HTC Desire : Unable To Sync Contacts With Parrot Ck 3200 LS
Apr 16, 2010
I received my HTC last week and I am very pleased with the phone. However I am experiencing one issue with my carkit, the parrot ck3200 LS Color.
It doesn't seem to sync my contacts. Everytime after a couple of contacts it says "Synchronization failed". At first I thought it was because I have some pictures associated with my contacts, so I deleted every picture from every contact, but no luck. The sync still fails at contacts that are in my Facebook friend list. I tried to find some settings where I can turn off the picture sych, but couldn't find it. Then I realized I don't even want the facebook friends to be synced with the phone, but I couldn't find any setting in the carkit or phone to turn that of.
Does anybody have an idea in solving the issue so that my carkit and phone will sync whitout issues?

I wonder if I am doing something stooped here with my new HTC Desire The phone is successfully connected via Bluetooth to the Parrt car kit. What I used to do with my Nokias was click the green button on the car kit, say the name of the person I want to call and then the phone would call that person. That doesn't seem to work with the Desire. Nothing happens when I click the green button on the car kit. Any clues as to how to make this happen on the car kit.

I experience poor sound quality after my pairing my htc desire phone via bluetooth with my parrot ck3100 handsfree device. The handsfree set is connected to my car stereo, and I need almost to turn up to full volume to be able to listen to the person on the side of the line. This problem doesnt occur with other cell phones i've tried, like nokia and samsung. I actually hear the person absolutely clearly with other cell phones. So this has to be some compatibility issue with my htc desire, or there might be some setting which can resolve this problem?

Activesync syncs my exchange inbox with my hero but not my calendar, contacts, subfolders or any other folder (deleted items, etc). It looks like the folders are there, but they are actually empty. The calendar issue is not really a problem now that i am using Google Calendar Sync, but i would like ALL my exchange email to be on my phone.

I just returned this fabulous device called the EVO. After waiting months and prepping by joining android forums and downloading various applications I found that the small bit lethal disagreements of not being able to properly sync iCal/contacts, wifi not connecting to networks in the same room and the biggest issue of them all, 1 phone bar in your house and outside of your house, making the use of such a wonderful device like buying a car without wheelswhats the sense (pun intended). I just dont get how after such advancements in technology how such well thought out devices like Macs OS and a open source OS like Android cant get along. Millions are invested in R&D in these OS and devices. And things like contacts and calendar should be simple enough to play with any OS. Still I looked past those issues until I ran into the wifi issues at home. I am a techie at heart and a finance database programmer by day. So, when I say that my wifi setup at home should be able to connect to any b/g/n capable chip, I am not doing any guessing here. My EVO just would not get more than one bar, and I updated the firmware on my wireless network even when all of the other devices work perfectly well with my setup.

I had been using HTC Sync successfully to sync my calendar items and haven't used it for a week or two and now all of a sudden when I connect my phone via usb to my laptop, its searching for ages and then comes up with "unable to find HTC Sync on your PC". HTC Sync is def open and installed on my laptop. Any advice on what it could be? I've powercycled the phone and laptop. changed the usb port can't think of anything else.

Whew... I just rooted and installed the "Official Froyo HTC Sense ROM" from AdamG.
It seems to look and feel exactly like 2.1, which wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting the lockscreen to be different (the horizontal one). Is that a feature of Sense? Do I HAVE to get rid of Sense to install that?
Also: Now I am unable to add custom fields to even my Google contacts (earlier I couldn't do it for phone contacts, but it was possible for Google contacts). Is that a problem with this ROM? What ROM should I install to have this feature?

The heading pretty much says it all. I've been searching and can only find people with Hero's saying there is an option in People - Groups, then press menu, and you should be able to select what groups to sync. But I don't have this option. (Though I did here one Hero owner saying his option wasn't there at first.) Strangely, I even have more contacts than my Gmail "all contacts". Somehow I have some duplicates or fragments, I don't know. how to leave out syncing All Contacts?

Have had a look through other threads, but with no result.I have synced all of my contacts with their relevant Facebook Profiles.Unfortunately, syncing has brought all of their details across - including 'phone numbers' such as 'ask me' etc etc.I've fumbled around the "Edit Contact" screen for quite a while trying to work out how to remove these details from here, but to no avail. It seems I can only edit the details I've entered in myself, and not the details that have been synced from Facebook.I'm aware I can simply remove the link / sync, but I quite like having the contact pictures in there.Anyone know how to remove these 'extra' details but leave it synced?

Please help - I'm a clueless Newbie with a week-old HTC Desire (fully updated) - and I am losing the will to live with this phone!
I have just spent 3 hours typing all of my contacts into my new Gmail account due to probs a)transferring contacts from my old iphone to my HTC and, b)transferring contacts from the iphone to gmail.
I have manually deleted all of the contacts from my SIM card to avoid further confusion, and am now trying to sync the contacts freshly added to my gmail account, with my empty HTC desire phone book.
This process would appear to be self-explanatory, and pretty easy, going by other peoples' posts...however the HTC has claimed to be 'synchronizing' via HTC Sync for the past hour, but nothing is happening!

I connect my DHD to the Exchange 2007 at works and it works great for the most parts, but weekly my contacts fail to synchronize. Mail and Calendar works fine, but when syncing contacts it says it can't connect to server. I then have to remove my account and set it up for scratch again. Then it works fine for a weeks or so. Anyone else with the same problem?

I am afraid I come up with a question that might be answered already. However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs. Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. Please correct me if I am wrong:From what I think I see my contacts are on my internet googlemail account only and my phone is connecting to the internet to get them. But that is not I would want. I would want my contacts being synced between my phone (which is not necessarily connected to the internet all the time) and my internet google-mail account. Now, is there a way to bring those contacts on my phone (using the on board tools) so I can use them "offline" or am I misunderstanding the menu and the contacts are already "offline" on my phone marked as "Google" contacts?

I recently purchased a HTC Desire Android phone and I'm looking for a way to keep a simple, basic contact list updated and synched with my Gmail account. The problem with the default way on my phone is that it will sync every contact on my Gmail. This is a problem as I only want to have contacts from my phone book synched to one gmail group and vice versa. There is an option to "disply only contacts with numbers" but I still don't like the idea of having every contact on the phone. There is also the problem of the extra empty groups I won't be using, can these be gotten rid of?
I basically just want one list and it to be my default list with all contacts and not have to go through an array of menus to get to that one list on the phone. I don't want that list to be populated by contacts who I may have only emailed once and will never email again. I don't want any gimmicks in between, no gtalk contacts, no facebook contacts, no default gmail contacts and I want to be able to then export this group to a CSV file to use with spreadsheets etc.
This seems to be possible on Android stock and even on HTC Hero Sense UI according to here: Tidy up your Contact List with a Custom Sync Group | Androidheadlines.com
but in the Desire Sense UI, when you go to people/groups/menu, it only gives the option to delete or add. Seems this guy is having the same issue, he has the sync group option but his friend doesn't, both using the same phone. No "Sync Groups" option
There are reports from this thread that some users have had this same problem. Some have a "Sync Groups" option when they go to People>Group Tab and click menu, most don't have this option however and I'm yet to hear from a desire user with this option. Also from this thread (Just want to sync 'My Contacts' on Android, not everything! - Google Mobile Help) one user reported that a "hard reset" gave him the "Sync Group" option. I tried this but had no luck, still the same menu as before.

I'm seriously thinking of upgrading my MDA Vario III to an HTC Desire.I'm getting on a bit and a bit stuck in Windows mode, so Android sounds a scary world. My questions are as below: How easy is it to synch calendar & contacts from MS Outlook Express to Desire (and vice versa)? I'm using Win XP on my PC, if that's significant. Is there an Excel type app for Android? I have a few spreadsheets I like to keep on my moby, backed up on my PC.

I have read the search results, but just a simple question. When you sync items, phone/pda/pc etc, you get the oppertunity to choose which item takes priority if say mobile phone number has been changed in two devices. How does this work between google and my phone.I don't want to spend ages today getting my contacts just right on google via my pc to find they all go wonky when it syncs later on.

I am trialing gcal because at some point i might switch to gmail and gcal completely from outlook/yahoo. All entries that i input in gcal sync to my phone fine but any new entries that i input into my phone do not sync to gcal. I have checked sync settings on my Desire are turned on for calendar and contacts. Syncing via mobile web instead of wifi. All previous calendar items have syncd to gcal but any new items that i put into my desire calendar don't sync to gcal or vice versa. I also can't get any of my contacts from my desire to sync to gmail webclient. (this is the first time im starting to use it for email instead of just android market).

When I sync my facebook contacts, a few appear in my phone contacts list.. I can not seem to remove them..
I only want to sync contacts manually to their facebook account and not some random people (who I only added for networking) to appear in my phone contact list.
Any idea why this happens and how I can delete them from that specific list?
