LG Ally :: Want To Stop Update Notifications
Sep 22, 2010I know you can rename outraces.zip to cancel the notification, but I have heard that makes the phone think the update is corrupt and it continuously tries to download it. I would like to have Velocity 0.2 on my phone but I cannot stand the constant nagging to update. I have tried flashing VZB and going back and the notifications still appear. Has anyone managed to stop the notifications?

Oct 6, 2010I'm not sure when this started happening or if it ever even worked, but my vibrate notifications do not work for text messages or email (i'm using K-9). I've gone through EVERY possible setting, in the messaging app, in K-9, and the standard phone settings, to ensure that Vibrate Notification is indeed on, and yet it does not work. It doesn't matter if my phone is on Vibrate Mode, Silent Mode, or Normal Mode, no vibration notifications.
I've tried restarting the phone, nothing works.
My Haptic Feedback works perfectly.

Nov 29, 2010so this is really starting to piss me off, there's a whole list of things that piss me off about this ROM.
It will randomly restart Text Notifications NEVER make sound no matter what i do. Home button does not work, neither does the search button.
I've tried rebooting, re flashing, downloading other things. Still to no avail. A little help please?
LG Ally :: Call Problems - Can't Hear Anyone
Aug 23, 2010My friend just got the lg ally like a month or so ago and he's had no problems (other than it being a bit slow compared to like my nexus one). But recently he's had problems with calls, he can't hear anyone but the caller can hear him. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem? I haven't had too much time to trouble shoot it yet. But i've tried checking all the volume settings, putting it into speaker phone, and all other sounds work though. Just voice call sounds don't work.

Oct 8, 2010This has happened to me at least a handful of times now with the Ally. I'll check my phone and I'll have a notification of a new voicemail, but with no indication that I ever missed a call in the call log or anywhere else. Is this how it's supposed to work? If you miss a call but no message is left, you get a "missed call" alert, but if they do leave a message, you just get a voicemail alert? Or is something goofy going on? Kind of annoying that I can't just quickly check the call log to see who it might have been. Instead I have to call in and listen to it. Is this to pressure people into using Visual Voicemail? I don't pay to have that on my plan.

Oct 2, 2010So when you normally make a call and the screen turns black when you put the phone next to your face. When you pull it away from your face the screen is supposed to come back on. My Ally's screen refuses to light back up. If I slide the keyboard out before the call ends the screen will come back on. If the call ends before I do that I have a black/dead screen for a random amount of time. This happened on stock rom and Velocity.

Oct 3, 2010I don't think I've seen this addressed elsewhere, but I could have missed it, and I apologize if I did. My phone is stock, has an 8 GB SD card installed, and very few apps beyond those installed by Verizon. I can include a list if requested. The phone works fine and all the apps I use regularly work fine. The only exception I have is that occasionally I will be talking to someone and I hear a descending 4 tone deet- da-la-deet.. and my call is gone, my screen is black and I can't get it to respond. If I slide out the keyboard, the buttons light up, but nothing else happens. I have to pull the battery to get it to work again. I can confirm I have the 50% bug and have tried all the suggestions which don't seem to do much. Also, someone else mentioned the problem of when I place a call, the screen goes blank and does not wake back up unless I slide out the keyboard. I have firmware version 2.1-update1, Kernel version 2.6.29 lge@android-build #2, Build number ERE27 and SW Version VS740ZVB. Does anyone know how to fix this bug short of taking it back to Verizon or living with it? Would any of the custom ROMs you have on here help? I have absolutely no clue about rooting and updating the ROM and don't want to complicate things further if it's not going to resolve anything.

Jun 21, 2010I've tried searching but most results get no real resolution.
Problem: Audible notifications don't go off during a call. So there's no way to know if you have a text/email/whatever unless you set the status LED to go off, which kind of defeats the purpose if you are holding the phone up to your ear.
Is this a problem with the Android platform or HTC's software? For those who are using FroYo, does this problem exist?

I don't want to turn off notifications and vibration completely; I just want the phone to realize I am busy talking to someone and don't need the sounds and vibrations distracting both parties on the call.

Dec 31, 2011My Android cell phone overrides my selection of vibrate mode and notification ringing volume (becomes the permanent settings) when pressing the side volume button. I was told by customer service ALL Android phones do this due to the Android operating system. First of all it true? Is there a way to force an Android smart phone to keep the receiving call volume at its intended volume setting and keep the "NEVER" vibrate selection from switching even when pressing the volume button (just want the volume button to control the audio level during a call)? In order to use cell phones for receiving emergency calls one should be able to force a phone to keep its intended receive call notification settings and not allow them to be accidently be changed by pressing an external button.

Jul 16, 2010Today makes it exactly one week since I upgraded to my Evo. I noticed, yesterday and today, an issue with notification. Yesterday I missed a call and noticed the led blinking but nothing in the notifications drag down window. Today I received a text message, saw the icon up top, then before opening it I received a call. Talked for a good hour on the phone and when I hung up, the led was blinking but icon was gone. Another thing I noticed from when I got the phone is I don't show any notification on the unlock screen as soon as you come out of sleep mode. Is this normal? My hero shows missed call or text on the unlock screen when you wake the phone.

Oct 17, 2010My LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

Feb 15, 2010I got Missed Call app because I liked the idea of different LED notification colors, plus some other stuff. However, when you start program it says to disable droid sms notifications (I think they mean just sms anyways), but I couldn't find that in settings. Also, not crazy about the icon it gives you in notification area, as one other poster pointed out, but I didn't know if that was partially due to having already gotten one notification from standard sms app, it's like a weird white sms icon, with a red exclamation mark, which always make me think it's some emergent notification, when it's just a standard sms. Also- LED was working at one point, but now I just get standard green, I assume this is because notifications is still enabled in Droid settings. So:
1) Is that the icon you always get, in notification area, for this app?
2) How do I disable sms notifications, or is it all notifications, and does Missed Call replace everything?
3) How's this app working for you, do you like it, is it working well?

Dec 12, 2009Does anyone know where the value for "Use incoming call volume for notifications" is stored? This is a checkbox found in the Ringer Volume settings that allows you to set a separate notification volume and incoming call volume. I would like to programatically toggle the value, but I can't figure out where it's stored. I looked at Context.AudioManager, I see methods for controlling the notification volume, but I can't find a setting for separating notification volume from incoming call volume.

Nov 23, 2010I figured out how to full flash the LG Ally 740 to cricket but 3 out of every 5 phones I flash do not save the NV settings. When I go to manual programming (##program740 send) then select DATA. The MIP & DUN MIP settings always revert back to the default 0000000000@vzw3g.com settings. I've changed them in LGNPST,CDMA Workshop & QPST but still reverts back to VZW. It's rooted and tried several different ROM's to fix the problem. Could it be the kernel? If anyone can help, please let me know.
