View 8 RepliesFor some reason google search widget is being obnoxious and i cant remove it from my home. it wont even respond to long presses. i tried deletion and that made my phone unable to reboot.
so I just re-flashed my CM11 ROM again. It just bothers me because its always sending out packet data and utilizing my cpu even in background...i thought it would be easy. my galaxy express sgh-i437 only has a dual core 1.5ghz.
I have a Galaxy S5 with 4.4.2. I dont recall if this happened when I had my S4 but this is my issue. When I am in my car and connected to the cars bluetooth, whenever I want to speak to google to do a search or something it goes through the bluetooth of the car. This would be fine but sometimes it waits like 2-3 seconds until the bluetooth in car picks up and messes up my train of thought. I would like to make the voice search not use the bluetooth when connected.

If I search for "My photos" or "My photos of trees" (for example) in Google.com search on the desktop via Chrome, or from iOS Chrome or iOS Google Now, it works as expected and shows my pictures from my Google+ photos as it has since Google rolled out the feature months ago. However, on my new Nexus 7 running 4.3, I get no results from Google+ at all, whether I use Google Now or even just Google.com via Chrome.
I'm logged in to Google+, on Google.com via Chrome I see it in the header bar, but no "Google+ results" appear in my search results. Other services appear to work as expected, such as package tracking via searching "My packages". Saying "Show me photos of..." will pull up image results from the web. The only way to search for my Google+ photos I can find is to go to the Google+ app, to photos, hit the menu button, and then search. (terribly hidden, by the way!). That works fine.
Is it possible Google doesn't have this feature on Android Chrome or Android Google Now, but has it on everything else (desktop, iOS)?
I would like to create a search in my app which acts like the map search in the Google Maps app. I have creates an an auto complete text view which updates dynamically based on the results of the Geocoder.GetLocationByName() Method. However the results retrieved from this function are really bad and not at all consistent with the text I pass to it. Is there a better method of doing this to achieve accurate results?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I looked at my phone this morning [Moto X, 4.4.2] I saw that the Google search bar at the top of my home screen has changed. It's hard to describe, but it looks like a spotlight. The spotlight starts underneath the microphone on the right side of the search bar and it shines on the word 'Google' on the left side.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a Motorola Moto X with Android 4.4. I set up my work's Exchange Server account on my phone and it syncs email correctly. However, most calendar events are missing. The calendar events that do appear on my phone begin to duplicate every time the phone syncs to the server. These duplicates do not appear when I access my calendar online or on my laptop.
The only trend I see is that any event added after I got my new phone will sync and then duplicate. Older events either do not sync at all, or do sync but then don't duplicate.
Touchdown does work correctly, but I also use Google Calendar so I need all my events to be access by the Android's native calendar application, so Touchdown is not the solution for me.
I have already done the following with no success:
1. Deleted and re-created the Exchange account on my phone.
2. Logged into the web interface for my work's owa server and deleted extra devices/phones configured to sync to the server (based on this thread: Duplicate email/calendar/contacts for Exchange ... | T-Mobile Support)
3. I have already cleared data and caches in my calendar apps, then re-synced.
It's a massive bummer for a scheduling bug like me not to have access to a reliable calendar.
I flashed Jellybean today on my Galaxy Nexus using the guide I found on The Verge [URL]
everything works great, except the fact that the sound search widget is nowhere to be found
the apk exists but the widget is not on the list, I tried to reinstall the apk but since the original one it's signed I can't install over it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI received my new Milestone yesterday, and I have to say I am very impressed so far. I got it from Telecom Personal in Argentina. It is like the European GSM Milestone but operates in the 850/1900 UMTS frequencies.
After the long wait and through reading about the droid/milestone I am surprised Voice search/dial are not available out of the box. At first I thought it was not available in Spanish (our native language) but after switching the phone to English it wasn't there either.
Is there a way to install Voice Search ? I wouldn't mind if it work only in English as I can speak the language (sort of ).
Ironically I work for Verizon as a developer offshore and can't get a Droid because there are no operating CDMA networks in Buenos Aires. It is all GSM here.
I've got an SGS that was on CM9, I'm now using pawitp's CM10 Alpha & have noticed something missing:
The arrows on the search box that allow you to enter autocompleted text without seaching for it (just adds the autocomplete to your search string) is missing. See the screenshots below for comparison (ICS (or GB?) on the left, JB on the right)
Was that something added by CyanogenMod? Or is it part of Android that's been dropped? I used to use it a lot! Back in the days of the HTC G1 you could use the track ball to scroll down through the list, but without that you're reliant on the arrows. [URL] .......
1. Is it me or have they removed the Search feature in the People app in 2.1? I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. I also responded to another post in a different phone forum about the missing Phone "Favorites" sub-feature in 2.1. Anyone know where that is? You can add a contact from your recently called list to your "Favorites" by hard pressing the contact name, but there's no associated Favorites app to go along with it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne thing that really bothers me about Google Now on a mobile device is that if you say "Set a timer for 'x' minutes" it will set an alarm (vs a countdown timer) for 'x' minutes into the future. If you say the same command to Google Search on Chrome on a PC it will set a countdown timer. I would really like it if I could just say "Okay Google (Now)... Set a timer for 10 minutes" and then have it start counting down.
Does KK updates Google Now to the ability to set a timer?
How do I disable these apps. For many of google's apps, the disable button is un clickable !!
Google play services allows disable, but a threatening message comes up "If you disable an inbuilt app many of your apps will fail. All your data will be lost"
I'm still new to Android in general, so maybe I don't know something. I like to option of automatic sync of my photos to G+. However, when it comes to accessing those photos from my PC, it's rather inconvenient. The web interface is, to my feeling, rather lacking.
Is there a way to access the photos as if they were in a regular folder? Mostly, I want to be able to select a number of pictures and move them. To do this, right now I have to mouse-select them one by one, then download a weird zip archive, then select them one by one again and delete them from G+. Is there a way to do this faster and easier? If not, is there a way to sync them as they are now, but to Google Drive instead of G+?
Google Now Launcher on the Moto G? I don't really like the stock launcher and was thinking to install this(I like to keep with Google/trusted apps, so I don't install much on my phone nor want to try out the other launchers). Is it stable as the original launcher?

View 4 Replies View RelatedStarting on Sunday, I have noticed that I am having appointments missing on my calendar. Actually, it is my wife's calendar that is shared. They are not all missing, only some. Also, I have confirmed on a computer that the appointments are actually there. Is this a new issue? Is there something I can do to remedy it?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have several Google Calendars that I sync with my DROID Incredible running 2.1 update 1. One of my calendars recently quit showing up its data, although I have it selected on the phone AND all data displays fine on Google Calendars. I have tried reselecting some of the other calendars in case Android had a max number it would display. I have deselected and reselected the calendar on Google thinking that may refresh it but still no luck. Funny thing is, the calendar used to show up fine. Don't know when I lost it exactly. Any ideas?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was in an elevator, was trying to record a note to self.
When I pressed the record button in the app, the google red mic in a circle appeared.
I got an error saying I had no internet connection.
What's up with that? I thought it was supposed to work offline?
BTW, I own swiftkey keyboard (I didn't try the same elevator experiment using that)
easy way to use GCM (push message on Android for Gmail, Hangouts, etc.) behind a firewall?
The problem is not that companies want to block GCM, they are just unaware of the fact that their firewall is blocking it by default. GCM uses ports 5228, 5229 & 5230 which are almost always blocked on corporate networks. This means push messages don't come through. It also seriously screws with Hangouts (when I open the app random messages come though while others don't; this results in only being able to see parts of conversations).
Response from Google is to request the ports to be opened. This is not an option as I work as a consultant and move between clients. I can't get them all to open up the ports.
Google is seriously hampering the use of Android and Google services for professional use by using non-standard ports. I don't understand why they are not openly pushing for the ports to be opened by default or use standard ports (could also just be as a fallback if the preferred ports are blocked).I can't use Hangouts professionally now (which I would prefer over Skype).
Google maps used to have a cycling time calculator.
how to get it back?
This is for the app version
I recently swapped my iPhone 3GS for a Moto G and immediately upgraded it to KitKat. Since then I've been facing a variety of problems. Firstly, my camera would intermittently stop working and give the 'Camera Error' message. This was subsequently fixed by Moto when they released an update.
But another problem has been everpresent right from the start. Over my home WiFi, a number of apps requiring Google Sign in fail to work! These are :
1. Play Store
2. Facebook
3. YouTube
4. Google Search (Bing search works just fine!)
These work just fine when i switch off my WiFi and turn to 3G.
I have done a lot of research and tried a number of supposed fixes that worked for other people. They include :
1. Checking the Date & Time on my device
2. Switching to Airplane mode and back
3. Deleting my Google Account & Signing in again
4. Clearing cache, force stop etc
None of these seem to work. But at times, all of a sudden they start working. But it's completely random cause if I try the next day or something, they revert back to their non-functional state.
My WiFi at home runs on Google DNS servers. I can access these websites through my laptop.
