HTC Hero :: Need An App For Mobile Networks
Jun 27, 2010I'm wondering if there is an app out there that i can use to set time for the mobile network to be on and off. I.E i want it turned off while i sleep and on during the day, i know i can do it manually but i keep forgetting and using up more of my allocation that i need to.

Jul 13, 2010I have a sim free Hero on 3UK that I recently upgraded to 2.1. Since doing so, I have noticed that the data turns itself on every so often.I normally use the htc widget to turn on/off the mobile data as I don't use it while at work/at home. Occaisionally, I notice that it is switched on and when I try to switch it back off, it restarts itself. I've noticed this on quite a few days now over the last couple of weeks and once it starts doing it, I can't stop it.I can only think it is down to either some app that I have installed or the synch settings, but I have checked for running processes and killed anything that looks like one of my apps.I don't really know what else to do to stop it. Has anyone got any ideas?

Apr 28, 2010Over the last few days my mobile data is being very dodgy.
Basically the data icons only shows the sending data arrow and it takes ages for both arrows to show any activity, if it does ever work.
Most the time it is unusable and I often have to restart, which sometimes helps.
I don't know if its my network (orange) or something to do with the phone. Any one else?
Android : Latency On Mobile Networks / GPRS - 3G?
Jul 8, 2009I am planning to give mobile phone development a shot and was thinking about making some simple multiplayer games. I know latency over local wifi is probably fine but what are the issues with latency over GPRS/3G?
I've searched and the best I've seen is someone saying it was 'high', without presenting any concrete numbers. I suppose latency fluctuations are important as well - does anyone have any info on this?
General :: Mobile Networks - Setting Goes Automatically In GSM Only?
Apr 25, 2014I have a problem with my android tablett, with sim card slot.In the mobile network settin, we can find this :
GSM/WCDMA (auto connect) - automatically switches between 2G/3G modes. When signal strength is low, 3G is favored more
GSM only - 2G only mode. When 2G signal strength is low, you get no data.
WCDMA only - 3G only mode. When 3G signal strength is low, you get no data.
But in my case, i can't switch to " GSM/WCDMA " or " WCDMA only ", it still changing in gsm only, when i change to " GSM/WCDMA " or " WCDMA only ", the setting goes automaticly in " GSM only ".
Motorola Droid :: Mobile Networks Status Disabled Always
Jan 26, 2010I have the following problem with my Milestone (~Droid): the mobile network status is always disabled no matter what I do! I have tried to switch the WI-FI network off, and I have tried to apply the airplane mode (as suggested here: Mobile Network Disabled?? - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum). Nothing helps. Actually, I have never seen the mobile network (3G/H) working on my Milestone since I got it.
I have a SIM card of my local operator, and that same SIM card is working fine on my HTC Hero. So there I can use 3G/H normally. It is also sad that there is no manual switch (I mean an option) in Droid/Milestone to switch the mobile network on/off manually just like in HTC Hero.
HTC Desire :: Unable To Detect Some WiFi Networks?
Nov 7, 2010The wireless network in my area follows the EALP/PEAP protocol which isn't supported on Android phones. So, I tried setting up local WiFi hotspots from my laptop to enable WiFi. But my phone doesn't detect that wireless network at all. My friend's Nokia E51 detects the hotspot, but not my HTC Desire. I tried detecting hotspots created from other laptops but the result remains the same. The E51 detects it but the Desire does not. Do I have to change some settings that I am unaware of?

I switched from Sprint to a different carrier and got a new phone with the new carrier which left me with my HTC Evo 4G and I've been trying to use the Wifi so I can use it at work or at home when I don't feel like using my laptop and whenever I try to turn my WiFi on it just turns on then off and tells me "Unable to scan for networks".
I've noticed that it says that my IP address is unknown and Bluetooth isn't working either. I did a factory reset on my phone and all that did was delete my Doctor Who background.
Sidenote: my husband was on my family plan and he had the same phone with the same service and his WiFi is working fine.

Apr 20, 2012After rooting with DooMLoRD v4 tool my china A6380 Android 2.3, which has mt6516 416MHz and Android 2.2.1 instead, wifi stopped working.
Tried unroot and factory reset but no luck, still "Unable to scan for networks".

Samsung Captivate :: Unable To Scan WiFi Networks
Aug 4, 2010It happened to me last night on the Captivate. I tried battery pulls, deleting the WiFi nets, etc., but it still kept turning WiFi off within a minute of turning it on. I did a factory reset (I'm getting better at this process. Can restore my device back to its former glory within an hour).

Aug 26, 2010I got the samsung captivate for AT&T a couple of weeks ago and have run into a few problems with it:
1) Wifi worked great for a while, but now it says unable to scan for networks and turns the wifi off...this wouldn't be too bad if I had a big data plan but I do not.
2) Battery Life...fml
3) I cannot find ANYWHERE any supporting software to sync media files with my PC
4) The drivers will not install on my computer
5) Way too many apps are using data without me even opening them (navigation, yahoo mail etc...) I have AdvAppKiller but that gets old
It is wonderful having such a wonderful, fast device with 16 gb of memory, but these shortcomings are making me realize why I enjoyed a flip phone for so long.
Samsung Moment :: Unable To Scan For Networks After CL14 Update
Feb 17, 2010I'm having a strange issue with WiFi on my Samsung Moment (post CL14 update). I don't remember having this issue prior to the update but I can't say for sure that it was something that started immediately after receiving the update. Whenever I turn on WiFi, it says "Scanning" for about 5 seconds, then an "Unable to Scan for Networks" window pops up. Sometimes it scans just once, other times it scans 2 or 3 times, but eventually it automatically turns off the wireless. At first, I thought the problem was caused by a WiFi toggle widget, so I tried factory resetting the phone to remove all of my downloaded apps, but I had no luck.

Jun 15, 2010most uk networks who say that their plans include unlimited internet allowance actually have a limit of 500mb per month. i am on o2's pay as you go and i get unlimited internet on my phone for each month that i top up �15. i used my laptop to tether my phone's wifi once and ended up wuth a huge bill when i found out that the "unlimited internet" was actually 500mb. if you are listening to internet radio all the time or watching online videos then this 500mb is not enough. so my question is are there any networks who actually do provide unlimited internet allowance for your hero?

What is the efficient way to quickly lookup my local phone contacts database and "match" them based on their name. Since there are firstname, lastname and displayname this can vary.

Jun 21, 2010I have this weird problem with messaging. I do not receive more than 10 (around) SMS.. To receive the 11th SMS, I'll have to restart the Phone literally.. I tried many Networks and SIM cards.. but the problem continues on every service provider.. The Customer Care guy talks nothing more than the Service Center Number which is fed correct in the phone.. I thought the problem is with the phone software and rooted it .. Tried GalaxoROM, and 1.6 Donut firmwares too.. but nothing fruitful..
This might be small setting problem or a similar thing.. but is a real big pain.. I'm having a conversation with friends and after few messages I do not receive his replies.. There is no problem with sending SMS.. my every message reaches the destination.. problem is only with the receiving messages..
Restart the phone and after few mins, I receive all those pending messages one by one..
I know you guys are champs in this field.. any solution would give a big relief to this frustrated human..

Mar 30, 2010Im using the stock messaging app and for about 3 weeks or so I haven't been able to receive an MMS messages. Everytime i receive one it will say in the notification bar "message not downloaded, retransmission scheduled for xx:xx" and in the actual message there is an option to download but when that is selected it just reverts back to the message in the notification bar.
