Is there anyway to create a icon on my Droid desktop pointing to a specific folder on my SD Card. I have a folder where I store all my movie videos that I would like quick access. The Gallery is much too slow having to search all my pictures and videos on my entire 16GB SD Card to populate and it doesn't even display the video name (its difficult to identify movies by the small thumbnail it displays). The best way to launch these currently I find is to traverse the directory tree using an explorer app, but I prefer a quicker method if possible.

I am a neat freak..well not so much super anal...but i like efficiency. When I mount my card to put music or photos on it, there is a bunch of folders created by apps. Is there a way to have the android 2.0 os put all the app created folders in its own version of a windows like Program File folder so its consolidated.

I have to create a program using accelerometers. I have written these pieces of code in order to start recording the accelerometer data when you push start, stopping when you press stop and then saving that in a file called data1.csv and so on (data2,3 4 etc). The reason I want to do this is so that I can look at the data for a given gesture and analyse it using graphs and other simple methods.
The issue I'm having is this program just makes random empty files - doesnt seem to log the data. It does make each file though, so that's nice
Code:
package com.test.Acceltest;
import java.util.List;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.content.Context;
import android.hardware.Sensor;
import android.hardware.SensorManager;
[code]...

my newly bought Tattoo became unbootable a few days ago.It worked perfectly fine two days ago, then it started to randomly reboot itself, but after that, it became completely unbootable, as in, it was stuck at the "TATTOO" screen. The phone internals are completely untouched, no custom images, not rooted, no nothing, it's factory fresh.The battery is full too, and I didn't install anything that could possibly have corrupted the bootloader (or whatever is failing to load).I already tried to wipe the user data _TWICE_ (using HOME + BACK + POWER) with no success. I'm also perfectly able to get into HBOOT (using VOLDOWN + MENU + POWER), and connect via usb (using "FASTBOOT USB" from HBOOT). However, I can't completely wipe the cache with fastboot.exe from the android-sdk, since it doesn't allow it: "erasing 'cache'... FAILED (remote: not allow)".

I am trying to find a way to create a widget and the program on the same app so that i can give the user the choice to add to the home screen either the dynamic widget or the normal program, same functionality for both except that the widget would run a service to update every x hours and the program won't. Similar to what "bbc news" and "weather bug" have done. I am guessing that something needs to be added to the manifest but i have not found any documentation for it. Can anyone help on this?

I use a Live Wallpaper .apk called "Waterize Live" that is very cool. You can basically make any wallpaper look like it is submerged in water.Anyway, the only problem is that it only takes images that are sized perfectly to fit in "portrait" mode on your EVO. I will use larger images, but squish them to fit.I am looking for a wallpaper editing program that will take my normal EVO wallpapers are create these "portrait" sized versions for me. If no such app exists, can someone tell me the exact dimensions on EVO portrait view?

An application I'm developing requires that the app main a local list of things, let's say books, in a local "library." Users can access their local library of books and search for books using a remote web service. The app will be aware of other users of the app through this web service, and users can browse other users' lists of books in their library. Each book is identified by a unique bookId (represented as an int). When viewing books returned through a search result or when viewing another user's book library, the individual list row cells need to visually represent if the book is in the user's local library or not. A user can have at most 5,000 books in the library, stored in SQLite on the device (and synchronized with the remote web service). My question is, to determine if the book shown in the list row is in the user's library, would it be better to directly ask SQLite (via SELECT COUNT(*)...) or to maintain, in-memory, a List or int[] array of some sort containing the unique bookIds.
So, on each row display do I query SQLite or check if the List or int[] array contains the unique bookId? Because the user can have at most 5,000 books, each bookId occupies 4 bytes so at most this would use ~ 20kB. In thinking about this, and in typing this out, it seems obvious to me that it would be far better for performance if I maintained a list or int[] array of in-library bookIds vs. querying SQLite (the only caveat to maintaining an int[] array is that if books are added or removed I'll need to grow or shrink the array by hand, so with this option I'll most likely use an ArrayList or Vector, though I'm not sure of the additional memory overhead of using Integer objects as opposed to primitives).

I am testing my android application on HTC Tattoo device.
I have written some custom list views with my own adapters. The problem i am facing is that i can see my list properly in the emulator but when i run the same application on HTC tatto, the divider line between individual list item is not visible.
What may be the problem and how i can overcome from it. In addition, i am also not able to see separator between menu items as well on the device.

I thought this was covered before, but if it was, I can't find it.Is there a way to add a program, like a video player to the list that pops up when you want to "preview" a video in an email in Gmail"I keep getting wmv videos in my email and the only option is to "preview" it. When I say "OK" a list of players pops up, but none of them play the video, most don't do anything and some play the audio only. I have a player I would like to add to the list and even make it my default, but there is no way to leave the list of choices and "browse" to the player I want to use.Does anyone know where to add a player to the list?

I'm new to Android and Java programming and I've manage to create a simple paint program, but how do I add a zoom feature? Right now I'm just extending the View class and using the "on Draw()" method. Do I have to use a Drawable to be able to add zooming functionality? I'm not really understanding the differences between the two. If I am way off base then please point me to a good tutorial on paint/zooming.

I had a Win Mobile phone prior to the Droid. I had Ilium EWallet and Listpro. So I'm looking for replacements. Listpro could make multiple lists and within that list I could check mark things without it actually deleting the line. Such as I had a book list going for my mom. I would have books she wanted me to pick up for her flagged and one color. Then once I got the book I would check mark it. Once it was no longer flagged and it was checked marked then it would sort but the books I still wanted first then what I had last. Then I also made the ones she actually had read a different color so I could keep everything straight as what to get her. (I hope I'm making sense here).
So I need a list program that is very detailed like this. I tried SplashID for lists but could not get it to download onto the Droid itself. This would have been perfect as it also has a desktop program you can type everything in and then just sync to the phone. The would be perfect. Then I had Ewallet which is a password, bank info, credit card, etc information that you could put in it to remember all your passwords and such. I have not found anything like a password keeper for the Droid. Does anyone know if either of these programs exsists, hopefully free but willing to pay if I have to? Or has anyone heard if someone is making a program like these for the Android platform?

I have a sprint HTC Hero and have made a few folders on it. But I *hate* the grey colored standard icon - how do I change this? Someone recommended "BetterCut" which I downloaded...it lets me change the icons for other shortcuts (which is great) but not for folders. I don't even mind navigating to this on the actual android device and replacing the original files with new ones - just someone please tell me how?

Is there anyway to create folders on the "all programs" page you get when you push the widgets/apps button next to Phone? I'd like to push that button and then maybe see a games folder at the top and a media folder for camera apps and media players. Maybe a news/reference folder for my dictionaries, reference and news apps. The rest of the stuff I'd like to just leave there open and accessible.
