HTC Desire :: Lost Data And Internet Connection
Sep 26, 2010Took my HTC Desire to Italy and since then have lost all mobile data connections - though works fine on WiFi. Switched on airplane mode for flights, and switched off data roaming to reduce overseas costs. But when switched back on to use internet couldn't get any network connection. Now back in the UK still same issue - no internet, and cannot send MMS picture messages - even when in strong 3G signal Tried all the options I can find but no joy at all.

Jun 8, 2010I have a question about Google Talk. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting after a while after the screen has been turned off? I have "always-on mobile data" active but after a minute or so after turning the screen of Google Talk disconnects and I don't receive any messages until I manually turn on the screen and wait for it to reconnect and retrieve the new messages.Just to note it doesn't actually show the splash screen saying signing into Google Talk it just says "Lost connection to server. Messages will be sent when online" bellow the most recent message.

Nov 17, 2010I've just noticed that I no longer get a notification of "Charge Only" in the top bar when I plug my HTC in to my PC via the USB cable!
I've gone into the settings for "Connect to PC" and it doesn't matter what I select, I still cant connect to use "HTC Sync" or "Disk drive" and yet the orange light comes on and the battery indicator says it IS charging!
I used to have it set to charge only and if I wanted to sync or copy to the SD card, I'd just drag down the top bar that lists widget locker and my mobile internet usage and I could select it and choose what I wanted to do - only now there is nothing there to select!
I've today replaced the trial power widget with the "Widgetsoid switcher" - could that have something to do with it? - I've tried adding USB connection and USB tethering and they dont seem to work either!

Sep 9, 2010I have just done the 'one click root' to my desire (here), and after installing leeDroid's Froyo rom (2.0c) I have lost root access to my phone. This means I cant do a Titanium Backup restore to get all my stuff back. Anyone know of a quick fix? or do I have to roll back and start again?

Jul 19, 2010As it says above really. I've rooted to the new Froyo with sense release (seems slow but stable) and all was well until I restored with mybackup pro. Some apps were missing even though they showed as installed and even so, I've got A LOT less internal memory than before and I'm still having to uninstall stuff
I thought Froyo was supposed to let you install apps to SD?

Sep 1, 2010Orange haven't had any since 26th August and won't have any until the 8th!?! What the hell is that all about lol my mate is going mad. He's called 'em up to upgrade, got a mint deal but now has to wait to receive a text to tell him that they are in stock (Like that is ever going to arrive He's been told that they receive them on an add hoc basis, sometimes 10, sometimes 700. Sounds a bit slack if you ask me. Does anyone think that there is a connection between a delayed Froyo release and low stock? Don't forget that they were blaming stock shortages on the success of the Galaxy S because it slowed down the production of the HTC as Samsung apparently manufacture the screens for both. wish I could treat my customers like this

Jul 20, 2010All the sudden today i just lost my 3g data connection. I actually saw the airplane symbol for a min or two as well. I toon it to sprint and they couldnt get the data connection back thy tried some kind of "activation" which didnt work then they wanted to have the phone for a day which j cjldnt do today. Now i disabled the 3g on the phone and turned it back off and on again and it said it was runnjng the activation again but this time t ran through and i turned 3g back on and the arrows show up but they never flash but i am on the pjone now posting this.

Dec 7, 2009After reading the forums and changing settings and doing a few battery cycles, I had been getting really good battery life of at least two days on medium usage and 3 days on light with my connection not having any real issues. Then, 2 days ago I installed weatherbug and beautiful widgets. While I enjoy both, it seems like my network connection goes down fairly often now and I need to turn on wifi to check email or do anything else web related. Has anyone else lost their network connection and been able to narrow down the cause? I'm hoping it's not one of these two, but I can't imagine what else it would be.

Mar 25, 2014I used flash tool to try to install recovery on my Lenovo A750. I used DA_PL.bin instead of MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin as download agent.
Now when the phone is turned off, it is not recognized (no MT65xx), and I cannot use the flash tool again. Beside this the phone works fine including 'regular' USB connection. What is "download agent" and what did I do wrong?

Jul 21, 2010when my Talk was going off line and saying "Lost connection to sever. Messages will be sent when online." This happened anytime the phone was idle for more than a couple minutes. I changed the seetings in Talk to automatically sign in, and uncheck the option to set status to away when the sceen is turned off. This did not help, so I made sure my data-always-on setting was on, and it is. Sometimes it would not even tell me it was offline until I tried to send a message, then it would give me that error. Other times, all my friends will be greyed out for a couple seconds until it reconnects to the server.
This is an Evo I got replaced by RadioShack on Friday, 7/16, since I was having sceen issues with my first one. I never had any issues with my orginal phone. Yesterday, I was noticing a lot of my Gmail messages were coming in in groups, and normally when I was using the phone. Today, I sent an email to both my gmail account and myemail@mydomain.net email which is managed by Google, and neither of those emails were recieved until I turned my sceen on and started doing things on it. I have also noticed that if I turn my sceen off, background downloads pretty much come to a halt. Like I said, I have my data to always be on, so this is not the issue. I am using mainly 3G for data. I have done about 5 hard resets, and tried my Talk client before installing any apps or setting up my second Gmail account, and this didnt help the issue either..........

May 4, 2010My phone (htc desire) loses connection with HTC Sync, version: 2.0.33 on my laptop when I start eclipse galileo. I have windows 7 32 bit. The followings are what I have done to solve this problem but with no luck:
- Unplug and replug the USB cable.
- Installed the old version of HTC sync
- Uninstalled the old version and installed the newest version of HTC sync.
I've to log off or restart my laptop to be able to connect the phone with htc sync again but when I start eclipse the connection is lost again.

Nov 19, 2009New to Eris and have set up Wifi to connect to home router (Verizon FIOS Actiontec). Successfully connected (accepted WEP) but get very weak signal and then lose connection. I've turned off "Mobile Network" but still have this problem. I am one room away from router and receive full signal on iMac and printer but only a dot under the Wifi symbol on the Eris. Exchanged a Motorola Droid (which received and held full signal -- as did my prior iPhone)) for Eris. VZW tech support clueless and immediately sent me to HTC support. While they tried (had some not very good explanations -- battery not pushing enough power) still nothing working. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated -- this is the only downside right now.

Apr 1, 2010for whatever reason today we lost our internet connection at work. Now I work for an airline doing charters and today we added a second flight to each shift. So I tethered my phone for the 3g and just plugged it in at the end of the day to charge it. Needless to say it handeled 300 passengers/customers easy. Changes, bag fees, checking in and selling for a solid 8hrs today! I don't think I'll ever get another cell phone ever. Maybe a bigger SD, but phone, probably not.

Jun 30, 2010So I recently rooted my phone and switched to the Kangerade 1.1 rom running a chevy kernel. I pretty much have no issues EXCEPT for the fact that maps wont function unless I am on wifi. Once I am using 3g I just get data connection lost, and then it loops....I am using version 4.3 of maps, my wife's phone is also rooted with kangerade using a p3 kernel but with maps 4.2 and she gets the same results.

Oct 27, 2010I was running the JI6 2.2 with cognition beta5.5 and was attempting to update however I needed to swap kernels since the current kernel didn't verify signatures. I was using vmware on a mac and i started it but then continued to use the mac side however the computer disconnected the phone from the windows side and now it is stuck showing an image of a phone next to a computer with a triangle with a ! in it between the two. Pressing all hardware buttons does nothing but black the screen and go back to the same screen. I've taken out the battery, sim, unplugged the cord, everything. Can't get back into download mode to redo the kernal swap. It's definitely connected to a valid, and working, usb port and i am now on windows itself instead of vmware. What do I do?

Feb 14, 2013I'm developing an App that sends keep-alive packets to its server to ensure the connection is still alive.
The server is java based and thus easily to run. I run the server on a virtual machine (Windows 7). After my App is connected and the first keep-alive packet is received (it displays a message in its console output) I disable the network interface in Windows. This step is very important because by disabling it, there is no way to send any packet back to the client informing it about network changes.
The clients are configured to send every 25 seconds a keep-alive packet, so you don't need to wait long.
When you use the sample JavaClient on Windows 7 it takes less than a minute after the keep-Alive packet and an exception is thrown which triggers reconnection (which currently can't occur). This is the expected behaviour.
When you use the sample Android App on an emulator (tested Android version 2 and 4) it is the same behaviour. So in less than a minute after the keep-alive packet it recognises that the connection is dead, throws an exception, this triggers reconnection.
Problem is now when this App runs on a real device (tested several, Xpearia Arc S, one Cyanogen Mod 4 on Galaxy S3 and my Galaxy S3). I've waited 5 minutes, but there was no exception. This behaviour is reproducable.
Since this is a sample App, it uses no wakelock or service, so to test it is important to have it in foreground all the time (don't switch to other Apps or homescreen) and increase your display timeout to a few minutes to ensure that it doesn't go off. Use Logcat-Output to get informed whats happening, because there is no output in the App itself.
Now Sample-Code is in the attachement. Something had gone wrong. The Code consists of 3 Eclipse projects which you can easily import.
