Today at one moment i was using my HTC magic on a call to my brother, and then 5 minutes later i try to unlock it on the pattern screen and the touch is not working! all the buttons work, however when i recieve a call all the phone does is play the ringtone and not show an incoming call!

Anyone having issues with the reply of a message in facebook? When I go to the facebook website I get forced into the m.facebook.com site (and iphone.facebook.com). When I try to reply to a message (inbox) it doesn't do anything. It only works if I go to the full site, but that is annoying and doesn't work too well on the htc magic.
I wonder if it is because of the rom update and/or being auto-directed to the iphone.facebook.com?
I want to use my HTC Magic with my W-LAN-Router (from D-Link, using DHCP).Using the valid WEP - hexadecimal key the HTC Magic tries to retrieve an IP address from the router, but then I always get a failuremessage.I log onto the router with my Macbook and also with my Iphone without any problems. Since there is not much to change about the connectionsettings, I dont know what to try to get the Wireless going.Does anyone have similar experiences or even better suggestions how to solve this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using an HTC Magic (Firmware version 1.5) and I am having problems syncing the contacts with Microsoft Outlook (on Windows XP). After I initiated a sync, the phone will reboot itself (after a couple of minutes, during the stage "Preparing data from your phone") and return the error "2 General" "No connection to the phone". I have done "Factory data reset" a few times. Every time I have done the factory reset, it will work for a while and then the problem will come back again.

Let me start off with a little background info. I got my droid november 6, 5 46am central time zone. don't ask me how but the vzw dude was letting me earlier cuz I had work. I was so happy that day leaving t mobile I did love my g1 but wen I read all about the droid I felt likt I had to leave her and move on. She did do a lot for me but time tells all and it was my time go and move on.Untill two months ago (Present time I'm talking in) I realized not everyone has the bubbly keyboard. I saw friends at my unit (I'm in the army reserves) that bought the droid a couple of months after me had flat keyboards n they were bitching bout how flat it was. I agreed with them since I was woth a g1 the keyboard was a bit flat but nothing to were its such a pain, so my friend shows me his keyboard and I looked shocked played with it was like wow and I pulled my n did a side by side side comprasion and this before I saw the bubbley keyboard thread on here. So unforunately my toucscreen starting doin its own thing like it was ghost writer and spazzing out. I had no control over it this happened monday nite and I was dreading it that I will end up replacing it. But it would not let me do nothing.I couldn't go ne where on my screen it would randomly hit different icons to the point were sum times it would call my contacts. I only had control over the physical buttons. So on Tuesday during work I fought the ghost writer to let get to setting a do a system restore. First minute of the set up was ok but right wen it finish and I was on the home screen again. I was like FUDGE I don't want to replace my rare Droid. After work I replaced it, I was real pissed I had the bubbly keyboard and (something I didn't noticed untill I got my replacement) the golden plated volume side button. I miss my precious rare droid. I was soo proud to be first non employee to have the droid in houston.

Sadly, the Android Market in Canada does not have any paid apps. I was just wondering is there any way I can put themes onto my phone? I find that it really sucks that I can't use any of the dxtop themes or openhome themes in the market unless I actually have the app itself (which I cannot purchase).
View 3 Replies View Relatednew to this site as never had any problems with my magic till today, my 2 year old to my horror threw it against the wall and the battery etc fell out, Fortunatly when i examined it there was no damage screen wasnt cracked or damaged or anything, however since ive turned it back on theres safe mode in transparetn writing at the bottom left of the screen and the touch screen doesnt work and every time i go into a process such as say contacts , i get the 'the process android.process.acore has stopped please try again everything works like i say i can go online but obviously without the use of the touch screen i cant type, nor can i send texts due to the lack of touchscreen so what can i do HELP PLEASE Or do i have to face facts and get in touch with my insurance ?

For people that made the switch. Do you honestly like it better? I don't care if it doesn't blow the iPhone out of the water I just want somethin onpar with the iPhone. Just better will I be satisfied with the magic if I make the switch to android or should I wait for a G4 or something? I can't get the hero cause non currently or ever will support my art carrier. I was wondering if anybody docks their Magic (or similar) to one of those thing-a-ma-bobs that holds it between two speakers? They're generally made for iPods but hold other players as well.Because of the wee USB port, I have bought a little adaptor so now I've got 3.5mm jack, but I don't know how well that would dock.
I just want something cheap so I can set it on the kitchen counter whilst making dinner and washing up. I don't even necessarily need it to be at a good angle, so I could just buy a cheapie pair of stereo speakers, but thought something small and compact would be more convenient if I want to move things around to different rooms.I went ahead and bought something verrah verrah cheap off Amazon. I'm not looking for a Carnegie Hall experience, so cheap oughta do the trick. But, would still like to hear about your gadget if you want to talk about it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyway just recently got my best skins ever. If you don't know its a clear skin that goes over your phone to protect it from scratches. Anyway here is my review on it.Installation on this skin, like all skins, is fairly hard. Here are some great tips that really helped me move the proccess along.
1) Using an exacto-knife (or even better a model knife), cut the top piece near the earphone and the bezel piece into two. I guarantee you this will help GREATLY!
2) Do the same on the face buttons, and the bottom bezel. Here is an illustration
3) Palm technique: This is a well-know technique among people who use skins often. On skins, corners often don't stick down. So what do you is wait a couple of minutes, usually 5, then using the palm of your hand press down on the corner and hold it for 30 seconds. The corner usually goes down, if not wait a bit more for the solution to dry then try it again. It is extremely useful for area's that just won't stick down.
4)Another thing that helped me, was get a deck of cards and tape them together. Put your phone on the top and apply the skin then. This helps to make sure your skin doesn't skin to the table.
5) The last thing is never, ever apply your skin over a paper towel, since the dust from it can stick to your skin. And make sure no dust gets under the protector because it is a huge pain to perfectionists like me.
I've just got my magic which is rooted & has the hero rom on it & other than it running a bit slow at times i love it.i have just come to change my 8gb sd card from my old phone & have formated it thru my phone on my xp laptop.the problem is my phone doesn't recognise it . it says the card needs reformating so i have done it thru the phone but it asks me do i want to continue & then it looks like it starts to format but doesnt seem to do anything.i did notice with the 2gb in the phone it did say it may be damaged & need reformatting & i got the same with that.

I've read though that doing this stops me from being able to use the GPS and a couple other things. Is this true? If so, what other downsides are there to rooting the Magic? And is there a way to get the best of both worlds? Maybe I can get an app that gives me GPS back?

In a cmd prompt when I typed adb devices it said

so anyway.. my first question is, if I screw up, what happens? How likely is it that I will be able to fix it? I have a 2 year warranty so can I sent it in to rogers and have them reflash the original rom?

it says, "grab fastboot.exe from here (HTC - Support - Flashing your Android Dev Phone with a Factory System Image) and place it in the tools directory of the sdk." There is already a fastbook.exe in the tools directory of my sdk. Should I replace it? I may have put it in there a while ago when I first installed the sdk but I don't think I did..
it says, " [optional]. make a backup with nandroid". How exactly do I do this? I've screen shots of the device where it says something about a nandroid backup. will the option to make a backup just show up on my screen? can I just move it from my sd card to my computer after that?
do I do all of this with the device in fastboot? It doesn't really say in the walkthrough. at what point can I not return?
what rom will I end up with at the end? just the original rogers rom except with root access?
I am running 1.5 r00ted and unfortunately it was last used in mass storage, not debug mode. How can I get my data off the phone using ADB? View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a cheap A-13 MID of the internet and flashed a firmware for another variant common problem with these devices so i have no touchscreen and the usb has snapped of tried soldering it but was unsuccessful.
I have recovery installed but only way i can use it is through novotools but need touch screen.
So i need a way to flash firmware through sdcard on boot (Can be done, can't find guide though)
Or a script that will run reboot-recovery.sh on boot from sd or maybe emmc
Or that will run when the sd is mounted so that if i insert an sd card into the device with reboot-recovery.sh script on it it will reboot to recovery
Give me reason enough to confirm my impressions of the Droid X and Droid 2's touchscreen compared to the Incredible.

So I had to take my wife's EnV Touch in for a software update on Friday. I started playing with all the Android phones in the store (and yes I own an Incredible...since launch day). There were three Droid 2's and two Droid X phones on display and all 5 seemed to have crappy touchscreens compared to the Incredible. The 1 Motorola Devour actually had a better feeling touchscreen, more responsive and fluid. I felt like the Droid 2 and Droid X touchscreens were rough and had an issue picking up my touch consistently. The two Incredibles on display behaved just like mine.
The LG Ally phones on display worked ok, I hate the haptic feedback. It feels like a capacitive version of my wife's phone. Honestly, it didn't seem much better than the resistive touchsceen on her phone. If a live wallpaper was enabled, forget using the phone lol.
The Devour running 1.6...gotta say I was impressed at it's performance and responsiveness for such low-end hardware. If I had to get my wife a smartphone it'd be an Incredible, but if she HAD to have a physical keyboard I would probably suggest the Devour to her. She could care less for flash, the Android version, or getting a lot of apps.
Anyway, this was just an observation. Some people are probably fine with Motorola's touchscreen but are pissed at the Incredible's battery life. The Incredible really seems to shine with a good custom kernel and a larger battery. If Verizon does get a version of the EVO I hope they go with a minimum of 1500mAh. Then again, I'm fine with my Incredible until 4g enters my area. Given my location, it may be a couple years when they finish the 4g rollout.
I'm running Android on a Beagle Board and want to add support for input from the Xenarc 706TSA touchscreen. When I plug it in it's identified as:

When I touch the screen there seems to be some kind of response as the focus disappears, but I cant press anything on the screen. I get touch events when using "getevent".
I recently broke my G1 and I am thinking of buying the Samsung Vibrant. Since the Vibrant is touchscreen only I would have a hard time playing Nesoid, SNesoid, etc. I researched the app "Wiimote controller" but unfortunately it does not work for the Vibrant. Should I buy the Vibrant even though I use my phone to play emulators? Or should I just wait for the Samsung Epic or just buy the MyTouch Slide because both have physical keyboards?
