USB Debugging is enabled on both phones. After changing the udev rules I did a "service udev reload" and
"adb kill-server" -> didn't help. I even tried to restart the whole machine. Without success.
HTC Hero :: Everything Works On Network Internet
Jan 8, 2010i got a new htc her and my network provider did the APN settings everything seem to work fine, mails, google mail, facebook , twitter - all services work well on both 3G and WIFI.ONLY THE BROWSER WORKS ON WIFI AND NOT ON THE 3G when i open browser on 3g it tells me PAGE NOT AVAILABLE.

HTC Hero :: Long Touch No Longer Works
Feb 24, 2010On my HTC Hero, when typing messages, I could always easily access characters like "?" and "!" and numerals by simply "long touching" that button. Very convenient. However, recently, that featured stopped working. I can no longer "long touch" the K-key and get a question mark like I used to.
Is this a setting that has been inadvertently turned off? If so, I can't find it.

Jun 15, 2010So my battery life was pretty poor, i'd be lucky to get 5-8 hours with minimal use and playing around with 4G on occasion. I tried my wives Hero battery to see if it made a difference.. it didn't seem to. So after her phone charged my battery up I swapped back. Now with normal use, playing music with it in the car, browsing the web on occasion, doing speed tests 3G/4G, couple hours of phone calls, some games, messing around with the LEDs as a flash light i'm still at 30% with 1 Day 4 hours unplugged. What the heck happened with her phone charging my battery!? What an improvement! I made no other changes on the phone besides that. I'll see if after my own phone charges the battery if this lasts or if perhaps there is an issue with the phone charging the battery. Pretty odd, just thought i'd share and see if anyone has any ideas what could be happening.

However, when trying to synchronize with Outlook 2003, it works with my contacts, but then it stops and says the synchronization failed and no calender entries are copied.

The new weather app HTC included with v2.1 doesn't allow me to add cities that aren't in its list ... frankly I don't give a crap what the weather in Paris or Dubai is! We used to be able to input additional cities, current locations, etc. and swipe thru the list. If there's a way to add cities I haven't found it yet ... anyone know how?
I've looked at the WeatherBug, Accuweather, Weather Channel, etc., etc. apps and while they're nice they don't allow me to EASILY switch from city to city. So, what I'm looking for is EXACTLY what we had before.... Anyone know where I can find that?
HTC Hero : No Service - Calls And SMS - But Mobile Data Works
Dec 1, 2009My Orange UK Hero is unable to make/send calls or send/receive sms. It displays "No Service" on the lock screen but mobile data seems to work perfectly.
If I go to...
Settings->Wireless Controls->Mobile Network Settings->Network Operators->Search Networks
then select Orange, it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
If mobile data wasnt working then I would guess that its a SIM issue but I'm clearly connected to the network as im using their internet!
Just swapped SIM with a friends phone.
My SIM works in his phone and his SIM has the same issues in my phone.
Booting up, it was connected to the network for enough time for it to get a voicemail notification but showed "No Service" straight away.
Im guessing the best bet is to re-flash with the latest Hero Orange firmware. Any tips for backing up numbers/sms/cal etc?

Nov 8, 2009Running into REALLY interesting problems with OpenGL ES. Basically when I start my program in 1.5 or 1.6 emulator, it works just fine but on HTC Hero 1.5 it does not. The problem is that the vertices are not being rendered but the gl.glClear() command is working just fine. I followed in with the debugger and it does go into the rendering function and such but still not rendering the vertices...

Also I got my projection set in 2D ortho projection to match screen coordinates so that's why scale to 50,50 to actually make a bit bigger. I've tried using glDrawElements and glDrawArrays and nothing on the actual phone but works perfectly fine on the actual emulator. Any ideas where I might be going wrong? Why is the actual phone not rendering the vertices like the emulator is?

HTC Magic : Putting Openhome Themes On An HTC MAGIC Rogers
Aug 18, 2009Sadly, the Android Market in Canada does not have any paid apps. I was just wondering is there any way I can put themes onto my phone? I find that it really sucks that I can't use any of the dxtop themes or openhome themes in the market unless I actually have the app itself (which I cannot purchase).

Dec 5, 2009new to this site as never had any problems with my magic till today, my 2 year old to my horror threw it against the wall and the battery etc fell out, Fortunatly when i examined it there was no damage screen wasnt cracked or damaged or anything, however since ive turned it back on theres safe mode in transparetn writing at the bottom left of the screen and the touch screen doesnt work and every time i go into a process such as say contacts , i get the 'the process android.process.acore has stopped please try again everything works like i say i can go online but obviously without the use of the touch screen i cant type, nor can i send texts due to the lack of touchscreen so what can i do HELP PLEASE Or do i have to face facts and get in touch with my insurance ?

Just better will I be satisfied with the magic if I make the switch to android or should I wait for a G4 or something? I can't get the hero cause non currently or ever will support my art carrier. HTC Magic :: A Docking / Speaker Thingy For Magic?
Aug 19, 2009I was wondering if anybody docks their Magic (or similar) to one of those thing-a-ma-bobs that holds it between two speakers? They're generally made for iPods but hold other players as well.Because of the wee USB port, I have bought a little adaptor so now I've got 3.5mm jack, but I don't know how well that would dock.
I just want something cheap so I can set it on the kitchen counter whilst making dinner and washing up. I don't even necessarily need it to be at a good angle, so I could just buy a cheapie pair of stereo speakers, but thought something small and compact would be more convenient if I want to move things around to different rooms.I went ahead and bought something verrah verrah cheap off Amazon. I'm not looking for a Carnegie Hall experience, so cheap oughta do the trick. But, would still like to hear about your gadget if you want to talk about it.

Aug 17, 2009Anyway just recently got my best skins ever. If you don't know its a clear skin that goes over your phone to protect it from scratches. Anyway here is my review on it.Installation on this skin, like all skins, is fairly hard. Here are some great tips that really helped me move the proccess along.
1) Using an exacto-knife (or even better a model knife), cut the top piece near the earphone and the bezel piece into two. I guarantee you this will help GREATLY!
2) Do the same on the face buttons, and the bottom bezel. Here is an illustration
3) Palm technique: This is a well-know technique among people who use skins often. On skins, corners often don't stick down. So what do you is wait a couple of minutes, usually 5, then using the palm of your hand press down on the corner and hold it for 30 seconds. The corner usually goes down, if not wait a bit more for the solution to dry then try it again. It is extremely useful for area's that just won't stick down.
4)Another thing that helped me, was get a deck of cards and tape them together. Put your phone on the top and apply the skin then. This helps to make sure your skin doesn't skin to the table.
5) The last thing is never, ever apply your skin over a paper towel, since the dust from it can stick to your skin. And make sure no dust gets under the protector because it is a huge pain to perfectionists like me.
