How do I IM on Android (HTC Magic) like with ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN Messenger users? Do IM's on the android count as TXT messages with the wireless cellphone provider?I am with Rogers in Canada. If I send an IM, as opposed to a SMS TXT message, will I be billed for it, or does it go like a regular IM message?

I don't see how any of those companies totally ignore the android market. I have tried ALL messenger apps on the device and it just doesn't have a solid feel. I recently returned my Eris due to it not having those apps that I mentioned, however would def jump right back once I know its official.

I am trying to implement Yahoo Instant Messenger in Android platform. I have downloaded jYMSG JAR file and used that jar file with my sample application in Android.

Where the hell is the Yahoo Messenger App for Android? I have an Eris on Verizon and there is no Yahoo Mess. app on there. I don't want Meebo or eBuddy, just an official Messenger app. Is there one in development, is there some sort of rift between Yahoo & Android ? I noticed this same problem with my Palm Pixi too. No standard Yahoo app on their either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, they officially were approved from Itunes (Apple) a little earlier today and it is live. What disappoints me is the fact that they said they submitted it to Android Apps but it doesn't take but a few hrs to go through Android submitting process. And this was a few days ago from what I understand. I wonder when we will get it. I've been waiting for it since they announced the release of the Apple version. From the reviews I've been reading on itunes they said fairly positive. Minor things here and there but overall they are saying the video quality isn't half bad. Not as great as facetime but hell I'm sure it's better then movicha and the other one.

No flashing LED, unchangeable ring-tones or notifications or are full of advertisements. The ex has a Moment with yahoo and I was playing with it and it works perfect, just like on a computer. This phone should have come with a yahoo messenger app already.

I would like to be able to sign in as invisible and also have the option to switch to invisible once online. I have yet to find these features which I would think would be pretty standard. Was also looking for a program that would support webcam to a computer from the phone if that is even out there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use to have an Iphone and finally upgraded to my Droid. But thing that i havent figured out how to work is Yahoo messenger to SMS to my droid.
On Iphone, if a friend on yahoo messenger SMS'ed me a text from within it i got it just fine as a txt msg and can reply back, but on the droid, when u send the sms messege, my droid doesnt get anything.
I tested with AIM and Live messenger and seemed to work but yahoo doesnt.
If anyone has a yahoo account and droid can u please test to see if it works for u?
Regular phone to phone sms works fine too.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.

A phone call to a friend confirmed they were getting them from me, but I could not see anything back from them. One friend said she sent me over 50 messages throughout the day, to see if I would get one. I was signed in at the time, but never saw any of them. When I got home, I signed in on the computer and was hoping to see a flood of the messages, but nothing popped up. My guess is, the messages were getting sent and confirmed, since I was signed in through the phone, but the app was not displaying them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFirstly, I have an HTC Magic, so no hardware keyboard for me, only soft. I've found that typing can often be quite laggy. It depends on the application in which I'm typing, but Messenger can be quite laggy, especially in landscape, but is no where near as bad as ChompSMS was. On the other hand, Opera beats the default browser hands down (indeed, I think typing in Opera is the smoothest around!) - the default browser's typing is simply terrible when the page loaded has quite a few images and data. Now, I understand why this could be the case (limited ram, etc) but obviously, as a consumer or user, that doesn't make my experience any better.
The other day I reset my phone to factory defaults (gotta love gmail sync up!) and installed only the following apps:
AndNav2
Barcode scanner
BeebPlayer
Netcounter
Postcode Navigator
TTS Service
Useful Switchers
And it still seems pretty laggy. I regularly purge my browser cache and delete all my messenger threads. Is there anything else I'm missing? I love the phone, but this is becomming a bit of an issue for me, and the fact that so many others praise it makes me think there might be something wrong with my phone and/or setup, rather than it being a universal problem.
Is there an e-mail app where I can configure my gmail, yahoo mail and hotmail all at the same place?
