View 5 RepliesSurprised the phone doesn't have built in IM but I have tried a couple ebuddy and nimbuzz I think. Anyway I am looking for just a good client for yahoo messenger. I would like to be able to sign in as invisible and also have the option to switch to invisible once online. I have yet to find these features which I would think would be pretty standard. Was also looking for a program that would support webcam to a computer from the phone if that is even out there.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm about to buy a used HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1), but I'd like to know more about what MSN/WLM clients are available before I do.My ideal client would be a complete straight port of Pidgin. (I understand that porting isn't a straightforward task due to the vastly different environments.) The primary features of Pidgin that I would like to see are WLM connectivity and the ability to keep logs of every conversation locally.I've tried a number of WLM clients by downloading the apks and running them in the development emulator, but they're not suitable for a number of reasons:
- Meebo isn't suitable as my firewall is reporting that it tries to access meebo.com upon sign in. Does this mean that it acts as a thin client (and therefore I would be sending my password to this unknown company)? Also, I can't figure out if Meebo allows you to keep logs.
- Both MSN Talk and MSN Droid have adverts.
- Nimbuzz requires me to create some sort of meta-account, which I assume would allow me to sign into multiple different IM networks using only my Nimbuzz name and password. I'm not interested in anything like that. (Which rules out Trillian, if I recall.)
I want something that runs purely on the phone with no adverts: exactly like Pidgin. This rules out web based services such as Microsoft's own WLM web client and ebuddy (unless there's a native Android ebuddy WLM client that I'm not aware of).Can anybody recommend a suitable WLM/MSN app?
Would anyone know if/when there will be an official AIM, Yahoo, or MSN messenger app will be released? I don't see how any of those companies totally ignore the android market. I have tried ALL messenger apps on the device and it just doesn't have a solid feel. I recently returned my Eris due to it not having those apps that I mentioned, however would def jump right back once I know its official.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried Ebuddy and I was not very happy with it. I'm looking for just a Yahoo Messenger application. I can't find one anywhere. Yahoo is the only messenger that I use so I don't need all the other messengers on one, and I did not like the way EBuddy was set up.

How do I IM on Android (HTC Magic) like with ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN Messenger users? Do IM's on the android count as TXT messages with the wireless cellphone provider?I am with Rogers in Canada. If I send an IM, as opposed to a SMS TXT message, will I be billed for it, or does it go like a regular IM message?

I don't want Meebo or eBuddy, just an official Messenger app. Is there one in development, is there some sort of rift between Yahoo & Android ? I noticed this same problem with my Palm Pixi too. No standard Yahoo app on their either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, they officially were approved from Itunes (Apple) a little earlier today and it is live. What disappoints me is the fact that they said they submitted it to Android Apps but it doesn't take but a few hrs to go through Android submitting process. And this was a few days ago from what I understand. I wonder when we will get it. I've been waiting for it since they announced the release of the Apple version. From the reviews I've been reading on itunes they said fairly positive. Minor things here and there but overall they are saying the video quality isn't half bad. Not as great as facetime but hell I'm sure it's better then movicha and the other one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got a Nexus One a couple of weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed that there wasn't an official Yahoo Messenger app (everyone I know uses it). Anyway, I just found the official Yahoo Messenger just showed up in the Market. Yahoo Search and Mail are there as well but I'm not sure if they are new or not. Yahoo! Messenger for Android
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just installed the much awaited Yahoo! Messenger for Android from the Market. Unfortunately, all my contacts are shown offline, I can send messages to them but I cannot receive the replies.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am aware of the notification bar on the top that you can bring down to see new e-mails, SMS texts, etc. But how does notification work with IM (instant-messaging)? I would like to know how Hero notifies you of new IM's both when you are on the home screen/different app other than IM, and in the locked screen (where you have to drag down to unlock).
View 2 Replies View RelatedAre there any Yahoo Messenger applications that work properly on the EVO? Tried several versions last night and they either do not notify you properly or promptly. No flashing LED, unchangeable ring-tones or notifications or are full of advertisements. The ex has a Moment with yahoo and I was playing with it and it works perfect, just like on a computer. This phone should have come with a yahoo messenger app already.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am sure this has been discussed before but I have the Sprint evo and am looking for a way to video chat from my cell to another pc with a program like AIM, MSN, Google talk or Yahoo Messenger. I use to be able to do it with Skype (through Fring) but now that its gone im hoping if anyone could recommend another similar application for this. I am looking for a third party software that i could video chat with through using a common chat program (AIM, MSN, Google talk, or Yahoo Messenger).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI know Yahoo Messenger looks pretty good on iPhone. I was wondering what Yahoo! Messenger looks like on HTC Hero? Is it a build-in app to the phone or do you have to download YM
for it.
Well it appears that Yahoo! is now offering video chat support for the HTC EVO.
View 47 Replies View RelatedI am looking for what can be done for video calling from my Evo to my home desktop as I travel a lot and when Fring was working with skype it allowed me to see my son and him to see me. Any suggestions as Fring video calls with MSN and Yahoo messenger don't seem to work.

On Iphone, if a friend on yahoo messenger SMS'ed me a text from within it i got it just fine as a txt msg and can reply back, but on the droid, when u send the sms messege, my droid doesnt get anything.
I tested with AIM and Live messenger and seemed to work but yahoo doesnt.
If anyone has a yahoo account and droid can u please test to see if it works for u?
Regular phone to phone sms works fine too.
Is anyone having an issue with yahoo messenger on the HTC hero? It worked well at first - but now it doesn't. Specifically - I can log in - but none of my contacts pop up. In addition, I can send IM's from my phone - but I can't receive them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing yahoo crashing when I close a conversation. I get a fatal error then it shuts down.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using the Yahoo messenger app for the last week or so without problems, but today I have not been able to receive any messages. A phone call to a friend confirmed they were getting them from me, but I could not see anything back from them. One friend said she sent me over 50 messages throughout the day, to see if I would get one. I was signed in at the time, but never saw any of them. When I got home, I signed in on the computer and was hoping to see a flood of the messages, but nothing popped up. My guess is, the messages were getting sent and confirmed, since I was signed in through the phone, but the app was not displaying them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a Yahoo IM client that handles linked (AKA Aliases) accounts? I have tried the following clients:
- Meebo
- Palringo
- IM +
- eBuddy
- Nimbuzz
- Hi Yahoo
- Yahoo Droid
They all have the same issue which is: I have linked yahoo accounts (a primary with other accounts linked). When I log into a yahoo account with the above clients and I receive an IM to a linked account, I receive the IM just fine, but when I respond to the IM, it will send from the primary (or logged in) account and NOT the account that IM was sent too. What SHOULD happen is the IM should be sent from the account that the IM was sent too just like the desktop app works.
I've been having SMTP connection issues with Yahoo email for months. When I send an email via my yahoo account (using the native app), it fails to send perhaps 1/3 of the time. This is not a new problem, but seems to me to be getting worse. I simply get an "Unable to send mail" error notification. Usually, a couple at sync will make it successfully send. Or it will go out sooner or later if I wait. Tonight, it's not working at all.I've checked my settings, and they are all correct. And I do not have WiFi on. And as I said, it does work sometimes. But I did notice that if I try to re-confirm my settings using the setup wizard, it returns with a "server not responding" error for the SMTP settings tonight. I hadn't thought of doing this before, so I don't know if this is the usual issue, or "just tonight".Have others experienced this issue? I'm wondering if there is something broken locally, or whether Yahoo's servers are unreliable, or Note that all other network connectivity seems fine. And I have tried deleting and re-creating this account (on the handset), which has not helped - though I haven't tried it recently.
