Just for sh1ts and giggles, I fancy de-branding my phone. Stuck on Vodafone apparently is not cool and software version 1.23xxx is way out of date.Anyone got a decent method of doing it and a list of benefits?

It's now version 1.32.161.4 and the root guide at 24/May r4 - HTC Legend rooting guide - Now with 1.31.x - Android @ MoDaCo says 1.31 and below is there any way to downgrade the Legend to what it was before? I think it was 1.21 or 1.23 not sure.

I have a Wi-Fi router D-Link Dir-615. My HTC Legend recognize the router but after enterring the key to unlock the connection, it fails to connect. 2 PC are connected and the HTC touch of my wife too, and all three work fine.

I will fix it soon, but I'll need a detailed guide on how to do it, I have seen some forums on how to do it but it doesn't seem that easy. I'll need a digitizer from fleebay & some tools, unless someone on the forums can do it?

I am pleased with the Legend, but at times things come up that confuse me somewhat. Recently a friend and I were taking photos and I thought it would be interesting to compare camera quality of her BB Curve 8900 with my HTC Legend. Below are the photos.

Is it just me or is something wrong here? (Forgive me naivety!) Also, could it be that I need to fine tune some settings or something? I hope somehow I can improve these shots.. the Legend's assumed superior camera was one of its main attractive characteristics for me!

I wanted to pair it with my new Legend, but for some reason when I press Scan for devices in the Bluetooth setup, my PC shows up, my neighbor's Nokia shows up, but the headset never appears. I thought that Bluetooth devices were pretty universal; shouldn't my Legend see this headset and pair with it without problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedOn every phone i have had for many years now, pushing any of the buttons whilst the phone's screen is off activates the screen briefly (usually just showing the clock or prompting for the screen unlock). This is both useful for ensuring the phone is switched on but is just as useful for ensuring the phone is switched off (night, meetings, flights, cinema etc).
The only way of activating the screen to check the Legend's on/off status appears to be to push the power button. However, if the phone is off, this simply switches the phone on! This strikes me as being a completely daft design decision.
So, is there any way of checking that a Legend is off without switching it on and then off again?
(Yes, i know there are silent, flight safe, meeting and other modes...)
I don't reach to download MMS. I have an Italian Vodafone SIM and I have the 2 APNs that are present by default: -Vodafone web -Vodafone MMS. I'm able to use the web browser, but when I receive an MMS with a picture, the phone tries do download it, but it fails. I've followed an hint from here: MMS on Vodafone. if in the setting I set to use the 2G network only, it seems to work!

I've always been a Nokia man through and through until I got the N97 - Nokia really let things slip here so here I am Anyway, I can receive picture messages via MMS ok but cant send them. Initially it was between the g1 and the iPhone, but the styling of the g1 really didnt get me going... Now I have discovered the gorgeous Magic and just want to know a few things. How are people finding coverage (3g and otherwise) throughout the UK on Vodafone? Also, I heard someone mention a limit on data transfer, any ideas what sort of limit is imposed?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNone of the MMS related settings are in place and Vodafone say they can't send the settings direct to the phone as they don't officially support the Hero. They did however email me the settings for the Magic which I've tried but they don't work. When I attempt to send an MMS to myself (for testing) I get two messages the first is blank and then the second has the link and password to view the pic online but when I go in to the message i get an error that says: "sorry! The application messages (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."..........

They are suggesting that I set up 3 seperate APN profiles - is this right? I already have an APN profile called "Vodafone PAYMONTHLY" where I have data set up. Can I just add MMS settings in that one? Can someone also confirm their MMS settings on Vodafone UK?
