HTC Incredible :: Upgrade Phone With Sense UI Disabled
Apr 15, 2010I'm looking into getting the Droid Incredible but had a question about all Android phones with the HTC Sense UI. I know that there is a wait for these phones to upgrade when Android has a version upgrade for their OS. If I were to remove the Sense UI from the phone would it be possible to upgrade immediately when a release is available? Take, for example, the Droid Eris. Would it be possible to disable/remove the Sense UI and install Android 2.1 and not have to wait? Or is Sense embedded in the phone to where that's not possible?

Jul 12, 2010I think I've read on the thread about the Froyo 2.2 release, that a rom has been leaked that will work with Sense on the Desire? Has anyone got any links/guides to getting this to work?
Secondly, I've currently got my phone debranded but this has led to my wifi being disabled since the last firmware update, I know I'll have to root my phone to install the 2.2 rom but will this then mean I will have to input the network code as that's what I was told would need to happen if I was to reflash my phone with the unbranded rom again.
HTC EVO 4G :: Improved Battery Life With Sense Disabled On Phone?
Jun 21, 2010I am curious to see if anyone has had improved battery life by disabling htc sense and running stock android 2.1. Since I purchased my evo I have been running sense and just recently disabled it from running by default and set it to run the original home by default. I have seen a little bit of battery improvement but not enough to come to any good conclusion just yet. To me sense makes the phone a lot better mostly because of the widgets so I'll end up switching it back after a while but I was just curious to see if there would be any major difference as far as battery life goes.

Jan 20, 2010Just wanted to relay my issues that occurred with Startup Auditor. I use a Moto Droid 2.0.1.
First issue: I disabled Google Talk Startup as non of my friends have an Android device. This caused an issue with the Market. none of my apps would download the updates and I could not Download new apps. The Market is somehow connected to Google Talk. After enabling Talk and logging back in my apps started downloading.
Second issue: I disabled the stock messaging app because I am using Handcent SMS. This caused my text messages to delete themselves. When I opened my messaging treads all that was shown was my side of the conversation. After re enabling the stock Messaging app my messages started downloading and showing up in the treads. Handcent must use some of the same things that the stock app uses and Startup Editor was killing.
HTC Incredible :: Can App.disabled Be Moved?
Nov 5, 2010I rooted primarily to get rid of bloatware. The instructions indicated that I should create a folder called app.disabled, and them move the bloatware and unwanted widgets, etc. to that file in case I wanted them later. Can that folder be moved to the SD card somehow, and if so, how? I am not at home right now, so I would prefer a handset only solution, but I can probably wait till I get home if the only solution requires a computer...

Jul 4, 2010I used to keep my SSID broadcast at home disable, and four computers have never had a problem using the network. Only my Incredible doesn't seem to be able to reconnect to a remembered network not broadcasting its SSID. In fact, if I turn off the SSID while the Incredible is connected, it instantly drops the WIFI connection. Anyone have luck having the Incredible use a network without the SSID being broadcast constantly? I'm using WPA2 if that makes a difference.

Sep 8, 2010I received the 2.2 OTA update. The phone is not rooted. Ever since 2.2, the Sense UI restarts dozens of times a day. By "restart" I mean the while HTC screen, followed by (loading...) with a spinner for about 10 sec. It happens sometimes when unlocking the screen, sometimes when returning from some app (totally random, no pattern that I can see). I know, "Factory Reset" or "Wipe and do RUU" or whatever other old wives' tale you want to dredge up from the posts here. Those drastic measures seem to have created new problems for as many (or more) people than they've helped.
Meanwhile I've seen references to this issue woven within threads on the many battery life and browser lag threads, but no thread on this issue itself. At the risk of creating more old wives' tales ("Uncle Festus told me I should"), I'd like to see if folks can detect a pattern or an app that might be making it happen. I suspect it's a bug in Sense on 2.2 and not some app. It started immediately after my 2.2 OTA, and before I installed any new apps. It seems to happen more often after some type of notification like an alarm or something that puts a notification into the pull down list. Did it start right after 2.2? When do you see it? Has someone found a cure apart from "reformatting the hard drive" (the ultimate sledgehammer)?

Aug 16, 2010I really love the Sense widgets for messaging and email and was wondering if there are any alternatives out there I have overlooked. I have tried Launcher Pro and I have tried every app on the market for these items and can find nothing that does the trick for me. I love the speed and features of Froyo but it does nothing for me without these type of widgets. Am I forever stuck with extra Sense, Plain Jane, and Smash and Suave Sense? Has anyone made any progress with porting 2.2 Sense from the Incredible or Evo to Eris?

When you push home, the switcher comes up, as you select HTC Sense turn your phone into landscape, then sense will run like that.
