HTC Incredible :: Rooted To 1 Ghz With 2.1 Vs N1
Mar 26, 2010
rooted droid to 1 ghz with 2.1 etc vs N1 or Incredible. I could pick up 2 driods cheap ($40) or buy the next big thing @ $200 each. The N1 has many unresolved issues just search the help forums on Google. So to me HTC quality is still questionable, to me...

I rooted my phone recently and installed the leaked 2.2 update.I ran Unrevoked as well as Unrevoked Forever, so I have S-OFF on my phone.I want to now put the official 2.2 release on my phone, while of course keeping my root.It would be best to keep my data on there, but if I have to run a Titanium backup and restore once it's installed, that's okay too.I just need to know the process to do this and where to get the update.I am running the leaked 2.2 Froyo update from May and I have the 2.05.00.06.11 radio.

I'm a VZW subscriber. I currently use a Storm 2 (HATE IT). I have been waiting... and waiting for the N1. I have a friend that works in the higher ups of VZW (not retail). I was just giving him shit the other day about the N1 situation. He said, "you should just get the Incredible it has slight better specs and the optical mouse.". I then told him my dislike for Sense UI. He said, "well then just root it".Would there be any difference between a rooted N1 and a rooted Incredible? Wouldn't they then have the exact same OS? (Provided I was going to flash it with Cyanogen). Thusly I would have the same phone with better specs, if I got the Inc over the N1. Is this flawed thinking? Since the N1 is Googles phone and gets updates first. When you root and flash with a diff ROM, do you then not get updates? I'm guessing you would be reliant on the updates to that ROM which ever MOD you choose.

I've rooted my Incredible with Unrevoked 3 and I have successfully used Unrevoked Forever to set S=OFF.now, I am trying to update to Froyo, but I am confused as crap. Can I use the official OTA update and do it manually? Or do I need a different ROM to update manually with.I've searched here and there everywhere and I haven't gotten a firm answer or I can't find anything at all.

I ROOTED MY HTC INCREDIBLE LAST NIGHT WITH UNREVOKED AND THEN USED A ROOT APP (Titanium Backup) AND WAS UNINSTALLING APPS LIKE SKYPE, CITY ID, VZW NAVIGATOR AND NOW THE PHONE WILL NOT BOOT UP. WHEN I TURN THE PHONE ON IT GOES TO THE "HBOOT" SCREEN AND I CAN'T GET PAST IT. HOW CAN I REINSTALL THE ANDROID OS AND GET MY PHONE BACK UP AND WORKING?

I recieved the ota update this morning and tried to install. while the phone did its thing with the power off i would get an exclamation point and with any button press would bring me into clockwork. I have no idea how to get the 2.2 update working and upon reboot of the phone i go to setting and check for software updates and am told it is up to date. If i go to the about phone section I am still running 2.1update1. Is it because my phone is rooted that I can not update? I do not care for root capabilities as my friend did it for me and wireless tether can be done natively. I have done a factory reset twice now but i can not get this froyo update to work.

I'm wondering what are the benefits of having a rooted DI? I'm unfamiliar with the process (though willing to learn), but after I have it rooted, what can I do with it?

I rooted my HTC Droid Incredible with and it ran fine afterwards. Then I changed a couple of the files in /system/framework and that apparently was a bad idea, 'cause now my phone won't boot. It just stops at a white screen that says "HTC Incredible". I'd made backups of my system and programs through ClockworkMod and TitaniumBackup, but unlike when I screw something up with my Droid X, I never get a clockworkmod recovery screen with the Incredible. I can get to HBOOT, but running recovery or factory reset gets me nothing but a black screen with white bars. After backing up my sd card via an adapter, I formatted the card and copied to it some stock image file I found on some forum and rebooted, but that didn't do anything. Not sure what information I need to provide. The Rom was stock. According to the HBOOT screen I've got HBOOT-0.92.0000, s-off, and RADIO-2.15.00.07.28. I still have the clockwork mod backup on my PC from when I backed up my SD Card.

I followed this guide http://www.jonamerica.com/technology/remove-bloatware-from-htc-droid-incredible-2-2/ to remove some bloatware. Now when I boot my phone and it gets to Sense, I get a "this feature does not support current software version" error and no 3g icon.

I recently got a new droid incredible (my first phone besides the crapy razer) and my friends told me to root it. I used the guides on these fourms, rooted it, and apparently it worked (I have superuser and can download root only apps). The only problem is that everywere, it says recover once you root. Every time I've tried this, it just leads to a black screen with two white lights on each side. I've tried everything to fix it; I've looked at multiple threads and youtube vids, I even found an app that should sent it into Clockwork recovery mod, but even then it still had the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this, or should I just try un-rooting it (maby I did something wrong and it dosent say) and re-rooting it again?

After many frustrations i just had to comment on the updates out there.NOT all the froyo 2.2 updates are effective. after loading one of the most popular ones, everything went right until it booted up.I had no camera, no video, and my SD card was constantly looking for errors!after searching extensively, I figured what the heck, and seen a post for 2.2 WITH CAMERA that works advertised. I installed over the existing one, and when it rebooted ALL was well with my rooted 2.2 incredible.
Couple of things I do agree on..Make sure you have ASTRO loaded, and ROM Manager. Make no mistake I am not Technically Brilliant but it is easy with these programs. The file that worked flawlessly and got my camera back was ...
20100727_stock_froyo_signed....Look for it....it works!..this all started when i kept trying to get Wireless Tether to work.I have tried Kernels (which screwed up froyo) had to redo it again...also tried every version out there..so for the time being until someone gets it right..I am using PDANET which works great! even though you need a usb hookup...
Again, updating is easy with the right files.
1-update radio. EASY (If you have to.DO NOT update radio more than once)!
2-UNREVOKED- EASY
3-ADD above froyo 2.2 EASY...

I used the Clockwork, un-revoke tool which is suppose to root your phone. My intention was not to root my phone but to run recovery. I wanted to downgrade so I went thru the motion and it said everything was done/successful. Now, I don't want to be rooted. I am thinking of exchanging my phone for the Droid X.
I went into the terminal and did some root things but they were unsuccessful like "whoami", tried to unmount file system, etc. I am running "sudo <whatever command>" and "su" so it fails. I assume I'm not rooted but why would unrevoke app say I am? I am struggling to downgrade using Linux (different topic) but for now, I want to confirm my phone is not rooted.

I've rooted my DIncredible, and have S-OFF through unrevoked. I know that when the OTA hits, I will lose root access. But with S-OFF I will be able to re-root.My question is, how would I go about doing that? Is my phone safe to let the update go through? Also, I've read around, but there's no all-inclusive guide that I can see that has how to get root back once I get the OTA 2.2.I'm kind of wary about using a leaked ROM instead, but that might be the easiest way to do this and keep root unless there's a guide out there.

1 From what I have read, I will have to unroot phone back to stock to get VZW 2.2 OTA. What will happen if I don't?
2 If I do the leaked OTA 2.2 with radio update and the radio file is different with VZW2.2 will phone brick??
Just curious, should I unroot?? any thought son VZW OTA?My DI rocks, I dropped the iphone and feel I have stepped up to a whole new world.

I wasn't even planning on doing it last night; just wanted to get the drivers/programs/etc all in line and wait for the official release. But once I actually sat down at the computer to get everything together I realized there wasn't much of anything needed for this other than the unrEVOked program (beta from the IRC channel) and the appropriate drivers.Any suggestions on "must have" apps to use on my rooted, otherwise stock, Incredible?I'm currently playing with WiFi Tethering and LEDs Hack. Other than that, I'd love to hear what you'd recommend!

Anyone else having problems with adobe flash not working on their rooted incredible? I received a message from Verizon that the "update" was available, but since i was already rooted, there was no "link" to install updates. So I went to the market and installed the APK, it even showed their was an "update" available once it was loaded. However, it still will not open the APP.

So I did unrevoked yesterday, found the update today, and manually upgraded to Froyo but in my excitement I forgot to unroot. Is that bad? I mean the phone works though lags and that's why I wanted to remove the bloatware but seems when I go to recovery I get a triangle exclamation point - so what do I do?
