View 4 RepliesI purchased an EVO a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still within the 30 day return policy. A couple of my apps are force closing quite often, such as Friendstream which won't even open. Is that enough for Sprint to exchange out my phone? Would they give me any BS?
View 10 Replies View RelatedNow my sms keeps force closing. Even if I just have 2 texts. Anyone else have this issue? I don't want a new phone because I have a full skin protector on.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIt's been happening a lot lately...when I open up my Internet and start to scroll around, it closes out and kicks me back to the home screen. I haven't downloaded anything lately, other than the maintenance update from Verizon/HTC. (It doesn't show the typical Force Close screen either, it just closes the internet window and I'm back at the home screen.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately I was going line-by-line through Jonamerica's root guide instead of reading through the whole thing in detail first. I ended up removing Twitter, facebook, etc w/o removing my user ID. Now, accountsync FC's everytime I try to open it. In light of my mistake, how do I correct this issue? I can't seem to find any answers via search.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with Unrevoked3. Then applied Unrevoked Forever. Then tried to update to 2.2 with the Update.zip method from the google server file. Phone kept rebooting and force closing. Attempted to Unroot which I am not sure I did properly. I also think my phone is still S-off. Tried to update to 2.2 after unrooting and get errors and it aborts. Now I am also worried that I will not be able to receive the OTA update. Any suggestions? Any way to make sure I am unrooted?
View 8 Replies View RelatedComing from having iphone for 3 years, so please forgive the dumb questions. Am I understanding that only way to close an app to free memory is an app like task killer? And if i turn therm off using this app, they will just turn back on of i press the program again? Is there any recommended memory setting that we should run at? So if start a game like black jack, if I go to task killer, uncheck it, it will load normally next time I play?

2) I see all this talk about app killers (pro/con) but I don't know if there is a way to actually close apps properly. Is there?
3) if I download something form the internet (like say a menu from a restaurant) how do I go and find that later??
I am about a week and change into my Incredible now. No problems. Suddenly this afternoon, it starts to auto-close anything I open after roughly 30 seconds, even if I am actively using the app. This includes native apps, and downloaded stuff. I am running Apollo Task Mgr (I checked the settings for auto-kill, and even turned off auto-kill), restarted the phone, searched the forum, and Googled it. Nada. Seems most people can't get apps to stay closed- I can't get them to stay open. Go fig. Also, I made no changes to settings today, no downloads, no nothing, just some Facebook, email, a few calls, Meebo, and SMS.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my htc incredible for a few days and I absolutely love it. However, I am less than pleased with the battery life. I run a good amount of apps and widgets and am sure this is causing the life to drain. I downloaded ATK in order to close apps when not in use, but I've noticed a strange occurrence. It seems that w/i 10 minutes of closing unneeded apps a bunch of programs that I have not been using open up. Is there any explanation for this? Also, is there a way to immediately close an app when I'm done using it rather than having to find the ATK widget?

Has anyone else experienced the problems with HTC Sense force closing and being extremely laggy after installing the android 2.2 update?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHTC Sense keeps force closing on my EVO. I have turned the phone off and back on and the same happens. If I switch to a HTC scene, as opposed to a Custom scene, it works fine for awhile. I had it working almost a whole day, but HTC sense starting force closing again, once it starts, it keeps doing it, until you change HTC scenes again. If you change to a custom scene, the force close continues. I disabled HTC sense. Now I can't turn HTC sense back on, but I don't really want to if I am going to keep having the same issue.
For now I need to know if anyone else is having HTC Sense force close on them, and if there is a fix, or if it is known what is causing it. I will worry about how to turn it back after I find out why it's doing it and can fix it. I did a search for HTC Sense force closes and could not find anything, so I started this thread.
I installed ADW.Launcher 2 times now. But for some reason I'm getting a lot of force closes. Then when I hit the icon at the bottom to display all my apps; that's even messed up sometime. Is anybody else having this issue? I'm thinking that maybe Beatutful widges or Bettercut is the problem but I'm not sure. I really don't want to uninstall all my apps and install them one at time just to find out what's the problem. But that may be my only choice.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have an app that I'm developing launching the web browser, running a page on my site that is reading a cookie/editing a database, and then Redirecting to "myapp://X/Y". This is all working as advertised. Is it possible to close the browser after I've navigated back to my app via the redirect? Perhaps a flag to set when starting the Intent that forces the browser to close or, at the very least, be removed from the stack so it's not visible when a user quits my application?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to the menu where you can see how much battery you have left and what apps are using battery life. Google Maps and internet were using the battery eventhough I wasn't using them. I tapped on Google Maps and Internet and got an option to close the app so I did. But the apps didn't close.
View 11 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, sometimes, when I open my 'messages', they automatically close after a few seconds. I have the t-mobile UK version of the desire. It is strange because it doesn't always happened and I cannot think of any applications which were running while would effect it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFairly new to Android, so just trying to work out:
I have a simple Maps app that plots a couple of locations. It's a demo for a potentially bigger app later. The one thing I would like to do is make it exit correctly. I want to assume that when a user hits the "Home" or "Back" button on the phone, that they have exited the app. I want when this has happened for the GPS process to shut down. I can't seem to find any examples of how to do this correctly. I have an onDestroy() subclass with a super.onDestroy() method but this doesn't seem to cut it. I've tested on my phone and while everything else seems to work fine, this is bugging me. I keep seeing the GPS icon in the notifications bar. To give you an example, this doesn't happen when you leave GoogleMaps.
i have an alcatel ot 983 just tried to root it and unlocked with codes provided by o2 uk everything was ok when suddenly many apps closed instantly after opening them . one of the apps not opening is the stock internet browser
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed (since getting a Task Manager) that apps that I run do not all seem to quit when I exit. For example, I load up an application, and then finish by using the back key, which takes me back to the 'desktop'.
When I then load up task manager I find that the app is usually still listed. Also I will usually find setting and a number of other apps listed. nb. These are Apps and not services.
As a new Magic user I wonder if I am doing something wrong or maybe not closing apps correctly. Some have an 'exit' entry in the context menu, but many others do not, and for these maybe I am not correctly closing them when I think I have by using the back key.
Also, does the Magic multi-task. Is there a way to switch between running applications?
All this seems that it should be obvious, but even after downloading the full user guide pdf, I am still no wiser on the subject.
Finally, is it true that to use the alarm clock I have to leave the phone powered up? My old Nokias used an alarm that worked when the phone was powered off, and even gave the option to turn the phpne on when the alarm went off. I assume this isn't possible with Android/Magic?
The SMS keeps force closing on me on my Droid 41/09. Sometimes two or three times a day. When it force closes, it deletes all threads. It even does it when there is only one thread with a few messages in it. I haven't noticed anything specific that causes the force close to happen, it just happens when it wants to. I removed all downlaoded apps and the problem persists. I am using the default messaging app. Is anyone else experiencing this and has anyone found a solution? I absolutely love this phone and it is my first Android device.
