With every phone I've ever had with Verizon, I'd found that leaving the phone in 1x mode increases battery life significantly. Does anyone know if there is a way to force the Droid Incredible into 1x mode?

my Eris this morning and was greeted by 5-8 force close notifications for what seems like all of my critical processes. My status bar shows that I have no reception, and my lock screen says I'm in Airplane mode, but if I hold the End button down, it says AP mode is off. If I try to go into my wireless settings, Settings will FC. If I bring up the dialer, that will FC. If I click my Wireless Network toggle widget, then Sense will FC. Everything is FUBAR. I can't think of any recently installed applications that might have caused the problem... aside from the latest OTA patch. This was the first time my phone has been powered off since installing the latest OTA.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a generic LY-F1 Allwinner tablet which was working fine until a week ago. Now, however, it won't boot past the glowing Android screen. I've left it for five or six hours with no progress, so I guess the ROM is corrupted. Is there any other way to fix this other than flashing a new ROM?
However, the main problem with this tablet is that it does not automatically enter mass storage mode when plugged into a laptop, so I have no way to rescue my content. I can see the drives in Windows (one for the internal SD, one for the SD slot) but they are not usable (they result in an 'insert media' message)
Is there a way to force mass storage mode so that I can remove my data in preparation to reflash it? I'm sure I read of a command line method to get into the internal SD card? Or was I imagining it?
I was able to access recovery mode on my bricked phone in a way that all of you may think is stupid.I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. My phone somehow bricked it self a few days ago. I wasnt able to get into recovery mode at all, no matter what I tried, how many times, and I tried every single method with no success.People on XDA Forums were mentioning about heat somehow allowing you to access the recovery mode. Some said putting it facedown in the sun for a few minutes, some said plugging it in for 15-20 min, some said playing games on the phone to heat it will would also allow them to access the un-accessible recovery mode on their phone.I tried all of them. I put my phone in the oven for 5 minutes, twice, last night, did not work. Ok I thoght to myself. Maybe I need more heat. To get it hot to the touch.So I tried once again today, and what a shock, I was able to get in recovery mode via the 3 button - WITH BATTERY OUT, HOLD VOL UP + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON, then insert battery, and let go of the power button once your phone turns on.Took 3 seconds to set everything to restore, in the recovery mode.It worked for me. If you are going to try this, maybe try with a hair blow dryer first.dont have one of those, so I couldnt, to be safer.I will not be held accountable for any damage you do if you leave it in too long or damage your phone in any way.This worked for me. Im happy I got it working.The only thing which worries me now What if heat or cold can cause your phone to brick itself? phone bricked itself out of nowhere, no idea how.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid Incredible that will not enter Sleep mode -- the "Awake time" stays the same as the "Up Time" no matter how often I reboot the phone. I removed any recently downloaded apps and went so far as to do a full factory reset -- the problem remains.
Here's what happens: My battery, which formerly lasted for about 12 hours of regular use, now lasts no more than 4. Settings > About Phone > Battery shows that the Up Time and the Awake Time are the same. "Battery Use" lists a bunch of non-app program (Display, Voice Calls, Cell Standby, Android System, etc), and clicking the little graph at the top of the screen shows that, while the "Screen on", "Phone Signal" and "Charging" go in and out depending on whether the phone is on, has signal or is charging, the "Awake" bar is solidly blue -- as in it has always been awake. Moreover, the phone gets noticeably warm, as if I were using it for an hour or two straight.
I first had this problem a month or so ago. After searching on this forum and others I adjusted the sync rates on things like Facebook and Twitter apps and deleted a couple of apps. The problem went away and I thought all was fixed. Then, yesterday, I was on an airplane, turned my phone off at takeoff and back on upon landing, and soon after I noticed the Awake problem was back.
I hadn't downloaded any new apps recently but went back and deleted a few downloaded in the last three weeks or so anyway. I looked at the current apps running, checked sync frequency on the same old things again, went back to these forums and tried everything that was listed (downloaded some sort of program monitoring apps, force stopped things like Calender that may have been problematic, uninstalled recent updates), all to no avail.
I have a problem to start/create Activity in landscape mode. My Activity need to start in landscape mode and be used in landscape mode by users. So far, I used setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE) to force screen orientation of my Activity to landscape mode in onCreate() method.
In addition to this screen mode requirement, my application need to start another background thread in onResume() method, and this thread takes some seconds in order to finish an initialization process, and it is not desirable to to stop/restart this thread's service during the initialization process.
However setRequestedOrientation (ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE) forces my Activity restart in a very little while (means onCreate->onResume->onPause->onStop are executed twice at the first place). As a result, my background thread be stopped/restarted during the initialization process, and this makes me a mess at this moment.
How can I force my android activity to always display in landscape mode? For example, in android vnc viewer, it always display in landscape mode regardless of my phone orientation (see attached).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with Unrevoked3. Then applied Unrevoked Forever. Then tried to update to 2.2 with the Update.zip method from the google server file. Phone kept rebooting and force closing. Attempted to Unroot which I am not sure I did properly. I also think my phone is still S-off. Tried to update to 2.2 after unrooting and get errors and it aborts. Now I am also worried that I will not be able to receive the OTA update. Any suggestions? Any way to make sure I am unrooted?

I had a good week long run without any FC's, and then after an upgrade it seems like they're back.

Usually it's .com or .HTC processes.
Is there any way to fix the Friend Stream force close issue without a factory reset? I feel like that would be a huge hassle just to get this app to work again.
Also, whenever I receive a message in my inbox on Facebook the page just doesn't load when I try to access it from the Facebook application. I am always forced to go to the Facebook mobile site to check my inbox and I can't do it through the app.

Auto-rotation for keyboard when answering a text message received in sleep mode does not work. If I actively send a text when phone is already awake, keyboard rotates with no problem but when I go to reply to a text that I received while phone is in sleep mode, the keyboard does not rotate. Is this the norm?I am also experiencing a delay when the I wake the phone. After unlocking the phone, I used to go straight to my home page, now I get a "loading" message which takes several seconds. Is this due to the number of apps I have loaded? Is it possibly due to number of photo frames I have on my home screen or the complexity of the wallpaper?
