I enabled debug mode in the native browser to change the UA String. I typed in "about:debug" in the address bar. I then went into settings and changed the UAString to 'Desktop.' Now, every time I open the browser = force close. Yes, I tried rebooting. What are my options?

I just had the weirdest thing happen. As I was saving a bookmark all of my bookmarks disappeared! Then when I try to go to my bookmark' list from the web browser, it force closes. Obviously its some bug. How can I debug it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to view a regular PC version of a site and somebody in a comment said its easier to fake a User Agent through about:debug so I did and no since I changed it to desktop it wont open and force closes. I saved a log of the crash if you guys want to see it. I just came from the iPhone world so this stuff is a tad different.

It will work just fine for a few days but after a while I will get either a force close or a "connection error" message. the first time this happened. I removed the account and started it from scratch. Same thing happened. It worked for a while and then these errors.So I guess my question is, does anyone know how to fix this? Or, does anyone know a good (free) mail app that will work with MS exchange?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was able to access recovery mode on my bricked phone in a way that all of you may think is stupid.I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. My phone somehow bricked it self a few days ago. I wasnt able to get into recovery mode at all, no matter what I tried, how many times, and I tried every single method with no success.People on XDA Forums were mentioning about heat somehow allowing you to access the recovery mode. Some said putting it facedown in the sun for a few minutes, some said plugging it in for 15-20 min, some said playing games on the phone to heat it will would also allow them to access the un-accessible recovery mode on their phone.I tried all of them. I put my phone in the oven for 5 minutes, twice, last night, did not work. Ok I thoght to myself. Maybe I need more heat. To get it hot to the touch.So I tried once again today, and what a shock, I was able to get in recovery mode via the 3 button - WITH BATTERY OUT, HOLD VOL UP + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON, then insert battery, and let go of the power button once your phone turns on.Took 3 seconds to set everything to restore, in the recovery mode.It worked for me. If you are going to try this, maybe try with a hair blow dryer first.dont have one of those, so I couldnt, to be safer.I will not be held accountable for any damage you do if you leave it in too long or damage your phone in any way.This worked for me. Im happy I got it working.The only thing which worries me now What if heat or cold can cause your phone to brick itself? phone bricked itself out of nowhere, no idea how.
View 35 Replies View RelatedMy device is a Galaxy Y, and has no official support from both the CM7 or the MIUi teams. There is CM7 build by a developer here on the XDA device thread, but it isn't completely stable due to lack of closed source drivers from Qualcomm.
Since MIUi is only available on MDPI and above devices, I have resorted to taking files from other ports for LDPI devices.
I was very successful in booting a release of MIUi I had made the previous day, but the browser kept encountering FC errors. There is already a port of MIUi available on my device forum, and that has the same problem too. I have taken a logcat, but I am completely lost as to why it keeps FCing.
Here is a segment of the logcat that is relevant to the issue at hand.

my Eris this morning and was greeted by 5-8 force close notifications for what seems like all of my critical processes. My status bar shows that I have no reception, and my lock screen says I'm in Airplane mode, but if I hold the End button down, it says AP mode is off. If I try to go into my wireless settings, Settings will FC. If I bring up the dialer, that will FC. If I click my Wireless Network toggle widget, then Sense will FC. Everything is FUBAR. I can't think of any recently installed applications that might have caused the problem... aside from the latest OTA patch. This was the first time my phone has been powered off since installing the latest OTA.

I have factory reset, uninstalled everything, still the same. If I clear the cookies, cache, etc, and remove my homepage of google.co.uk, it seems fine. The T-Mobile default homepage works fine if I type a capital A. If I set Google.co.uk, and type a capital A, it force closes.
Hmm....and after a bit of digging....it only seems to do it on Google Mobile sites. Classic Google.com and .co.uk are fine. Google force loses, as does .com/m.
Anyone have the same issue, or know whats causing this?
Is it possible to start the browser activity from my game but force it to be portrait regardless of orientation so that it matches the orientation of my game which is always in portrait regardless.

But i am still having force closes, i have not even been able to run launcherpro, i just get a black screen and a force close. View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday morning my phone started freezing..It always freezes but like real bad so i took the battery out and put it back in and turned it on and it went all the way to the screen where samsung is across it and black in the background and stayed there for 20 minutes and it wouldnt boot past that so i did it again and this time it stayed there for 40 minutes so i called technical support and they refreshed my device and that didnt work so they said to bring it to a store to have it checked out...
I have done this before and all they did was reset the whole phone so i didnt wanna waste my time waiting for the phone to be ready to be picked up so i did a hard reset myself and wiped the cache.It is force closing everythng and still freezes..Is there anything else i can do or am i going to be forced to go to the store?.....

When I am having a conversation thread and I am responding, I open settings, attach, from camera, take a picture, and hit save. Once I hit save, Handcent force closes. I have tried to uninstall it and re-install it. I tried the same thing on the stock app and at first it didn't work but then I went into rom manager and went into JT's stuff and downloaded the stock MMS.apk, that did the trick for the stock messaging app but Handcent is still doing the same thing.
By crashing i mean force closing. why does my phone (Samsung galaxy s2) do that and how do i fix it ? ive tried cold boots, clean master and defrager pro.

When I try to go to google.com or use the google search bar on the main sceen it starts to load, and before it finishes its closes the browser. It happens every time, with no forse close screen. It didn't always do this since I updated to 2.1, it just started recently. Has anyone else had this happen or perhaps knows what causes this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUntil yesterday if I had an app like Pandora or ESPN Radio playing/running when the screen kicked off the app would keep playing. However, now when the phone goes to sleep everything else gets shut off. I have not altered anything myself per se. Even uninstalled a few apps like AutoKiller [which I had installed for weeks and everything worked fine with it on and installed] but the problem persists and remains. This really perplexes me as I want/need these apps to play with the screen off like they did before. For the life of me I don't know why this is; nor can I find anything in settings to change.

(not the first time) but after turning back on it throws this error at me com.sec.android.providers.downloads has stopped unexpectedly with a force close. Now every time I reboot it it comes up with the same error. Also it reset some of the factory settings (my internet browser got reset as well as my background and my alarms). Now everything is somewhat back to normal other then every reboot after I get that error my browser gets reset and I cannot download anything off there anymore (like pictures).
I have the Bell Vibrant not rooted or anything. 2.1 with a bunch of normal apps.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI followed the instructions on the how-to root sticky, but when I power down the device and then hold vol down+up simultaneously and power it back up to get to recovery mode (to root), it boots normally. I've done this 7 times now, with two fingers holding down the volume buttons (one each) and then pressing the power button until the device shows signs of life.
