1. Download http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/
2. Make sure HTCSync Is uninstall-ed
3. Run EXE and enjoy Root!!!

I just rooted my incredible with unrevoked and everything is workinhg except my video camera. I set the resolution. To 720p and I hit record and it stays on for 4 seconds and then restarts my phone. Please help. Wireless tether works though. I'm very happy about that.

First..you will need to unlock the Nexus Ones bootloader (doing this voids the warranty) Guide here:

Disable any kind of adblocker so the how-to video comes up (it loads in the black window at top) For me..I had to disable adblockplus on Firefox.
Then once that is done, you then can save a recovery file to your N1/load your custom rom.

You will need your computer to be able to recognize the Nexus One for all this to work..
You can either do it this way (which I believe just installs the USB drivers)

Or you can download the Android SDK

Once installed, I clicked on "download ALL updates" so I would recommend doing that just to be safe.
Ok so now that we have Root available, can anybody tell yet if we are able to set up video out? Is it now as simple as someone making an app for it?

So if anyone was curious on how to remove root this seems super easy. If any of you gurus (looking at you saps and nitsuj17) can confirm this is a good way to do this that would be awesome.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am new here and have not yet an android, as such, I have have a phew questions (actually quite a phew) so as to help me decide whether or not to purchase one. All help will be greatly appreciated. By the way this is all in regards to the hero, okay I'll get into it. 1. Okay the first is concerning to rooting and ROMs, as you all know the hero is well known for all its problems and hiccups (as evident by all the Qs on this forum regarding hero), e.g screen glitches and flickers, key board fails to register, no video play back on certain formats, problems with the social websites sync, computer sync issues, downloading apps, list keeps on going (see forum threads). My question is, if I were to root and get a custom ROM this would void my warranty which would be a problem if any any of the problems above (which are likely) were to occur, so what I want to know is if I root and do the ROM, is there any way I can 'uninstall' so to speak so as to not void my warranty? 2. I run a mac so will this pose any complications regarding syncing, or loading music etc? 3. I hear many problems in regards to the video playback formatting, I am unclear as to what this implies, does this refer to loading videos from your computer to the device? i just want to confirm that these problems do not refer to playback of videos that were actually taken with the phone.....

When I try to run video while on Yahoo's site I get message "Cannot play video - Sorry this video cannot be played." I have no issues with ESPN, Cnet, etc. I'm able to run these yahoo videos on my wife's Eris with 2.1 (v.3).
Anyone know how to deal with this issue?
Ok, I ran the new beta flash, it appeared to do what it was supposed to do, it got hung up on the clockwork recovery page, but rebooted. Now, how do I tell if I am rooted?

View 49 Replies View RelatedIt doesn't have a front facing camera like Evo BUT the Fring app works perfectly and will let you do video calls with the Incredible. This is actually excellent news for me. A lot of the times I couldn't care less who sees me but I want to see them (daughter, wife, etc.). This way they can look at what I'm looking at while I see them.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had a rooted Incredible using this method before however I had a problem with the on screen keyboard so I got a replacement. The replacement just came yesterday. Now I am rooting the replacement and the Unrevoked 3 program gets stuck at "Waiting for root... (Safe to restart if this doesn't work)"
I have the HBOOT drivers installed and my phone comes up in device manager as "Android Composite ADB Interface"
Did they apply a new update to the phone that prevents rooting? If so how long before I can get around it?
Nexus HD do you all think there may be a software update or something in the future that will upgrade the video-taking capabilities of our Incredible? I'm assuming that we could since the Incredible is nearly identical to the Nexus One, and it's actually a bit better in several areas. I know HD video is kind of dumb on a smartphone, but wouldn't it be nice to just have it? Then the iPhone 4 has only got a bit of battery life, frontfacing camera and gyroscope over the Incredible.

Tried it using the stock video player and the Act 1 player. I converted them using Handbrake as mp4 videos. I have a few movies saved onto my media card but I was wondering if there is an app that would allow me to login to my home server (through ftp or something) and let me browse my vids and stream them through. In the file manager I tried and it sais that streaming wasnt available and proceeded to download the file. It would play once it was fully transfered. Any avi streamers out there?

I downloaded a paid version of Act 1 Video Player and I just couldn't find any movies to watch. When I tried the Search for Videos button, it opens up "ipod mp4 videos" which when I tried a video is not supported by HTC Incredible.Can someone please help me as to how / steps to watch video using Act 1 Video Player? Is there a website that I can go to download movies that I can watch through Act 1 Video Player?
