HTC Incredible :: Messages Contact List - Only Phone Numbers?
Apr 29, 2010Just got my Incredible and it is rocking. Damn this thing is fast! I notice that when I try to compose an sms message, the contact search list contains ALL of my contacts (phone + Google). This is super annoying, as I literally have thousands of Google contacts and some people have numerous accounts, so it's incredibly difficult to sort through and is honestly the first thing I have seen the phone start to choke on. The 'People' widget has a 'View' setting that allows me to limit by just phone contacts, but I can't seem to find any sort of filter in the search when I'm composing a message. I can type each name individually and select, but having a big list would be nice. Again, I'd like to be able to select message recipients from a list containing only phone contacts.

Aug 3, 2010Got my phone today. Problem is I went to the verizon store, had them transfer contacts from my blackberry and when I go to contacts, it is empty other than the phone default numbers. If I go to "All contacts" the list is populated with my regular phone numbers +600 facebook friends i do not care about. How can I get it so I only have the numbers I want?

I have the facebook phonebook link on my homescreen with the my contacts with their numbers but they are not in my people list so i cant directly send a text from the facebook phonebook I can only call, so is there anyway to merge/import to my people list on the phone.

Jan 14, 2010Is there a way in the contact list (People Icon) to designate individuals as ICE (In Case of Emergency) numbers? What I have done so far is when I entered all my contacts, who ever I wanted designated as an ICE contact, I just put a comment in the Notes field. Anyone else have another way of doing this?

Sep 12, 2010I am still in the process of learning and customizing this phone so there may be a famous app that takes care of this but I did a search and found nothing. I am not a big fan of how the contact list shows friends from facebook/gmail/Phone. I only want it to show contacts that I have personally added on my phone. Is there a way I can arrange this. I have it to where it remembers phone contacts only when I hit contacts but as soon as restart, it goes right back to all contacts. It also comes up when I try to text someone or in the contact section of the dialer. I just dont like this. I don't mind that they are there, persay, but I don't want it to be default all the time. Is there a way to change this?

Oct 16, 2009My address book is all over the place! I am coming from a BB curve 3300, i had my contact list with numbers and emails within same field per person. When the address book was transfered over to my Hero, i received 3 to 4 different fields per person! HTC Incredible :: Contact Favorites (multiple Numbers)
May 12, 2010After playing with my Incredible for many many many hours, just found a really sweet trick.In the favorites widget i have people with multiple numbers(cell, phone), and when you click on that person it calls the primary number, but last night i found that if you click the actual name of the contact(right under the actual pic) a detail properties pop up for that contact and from there you can callsmsemail the person via other numbers.now back to looking for more cool things

Aug 26, 2010After one of the recent handcent updates, I entered a number to send a text message. This number was not in my contacts. I entered the number, and it changed the number at the top to a persons name, who isn't in my contacts, and does not have the same number. They are my friend on facebook however. Is handcent linking with facebook? How do I turn this off? It's telling me this conversation is with the wrong person as of now, and I don't know if it's even sending to the right number.

So if they have a work, home and mobile it also gives me the ability to send messages to all 3 of those numbers, why? If I send a text I only want it going to their mobile....is everyones contacts set up like this?

May 5, 2010I added a few numbers and names to my contacts and a few hours later when I went to view the contact list one of the names was on the screen inside a transparent black box and wouldn't clear even though i could scroll through the list. Has anyone had this happen? I want to know how or why it was there. It took restarting the phone to clear it.

Jul 8, 2010I have recently upgraded from an Samsung Instinct to an HTC Hero. I am currently on my second phone. The first one had a major OS glitch. As the service tech stated it was possessed. I am into my new replacement for about 2 weeks now. Currently, I am having horrible luck with the phone. The keyboard lags, the phone auto dials random numbers while scrolling the phone book and today while talking to my wife it made a conference call to my wife. Also the weather feature on the clock won't update the location unless I manually refresh it. These are just a few of the things I have noticed. I currently am running advanced app killer to save on battery life and the phone is up to date on the software. My brother has an HTC Touch through T-Mobile and it rocks and I have other friends with android phones and they don't experience the same issues.

Jun 16, 2010I've had my Incredible since 4/28, and everything has been working smoothly up until about last Thursday night when it just restarted out of the blue while I was listening to music. Then right after it booted up, it restarted again, then again about seven more times. I got fed up and took out the SD card and it seemed to stop after that, so I haven't put the SD card back in since then.
Just now, Wednesday, about a week later, I was browsing around on the internet and all of a sudden, it restarted, and then again, and again, and again. I've read that it is because of poor signal strength or something like that so I had just enough time to put it in airplane mode before it restarted again.
Side note, that theory about it being caused by poor signal seems to make sense because the first time it happened to me I was out of town in a city that gets very bad coverage with Verizon, and now today when it started happening again was at my house where for some reason I get very bad service with the incredible, my old phone worked perfectly fine in my house but the incredible gets terrible service, and so does my brother's Droid. In fact, about two weeks ago I got my first dropped call on Verizon in about three years, and it was in my house.
So anyways, I decided to put it in airplane mode, and just after I put it in airplane mode it restarted again. Then when it booted back up my Helix Launcher 2 home screen went back to the standard Helix Launcher 2 icons, I go into my messages and everything is gone, my contacts are all gone, everything is gone. I go to the app menu and all my apps are still there, but when I start up an app, all the custom settings are default now. I went into the settings and my accounts are all still there. I click on internet and I get a terms of service agreement, it's as if I am booting it up for the first time, but for some reason my apps and accounts are all still there.
I turn airplane mode off thinking it might have something to do with it not being connected to my google account, and I restart it again and everything is still gone. I don't know what to do, has this happened to anyone before? I feel like there should be a way for me to get this stuff back since my apps are still there and my accounts are still synced, but random things are missing like my contacts and messages etc. This is really starting to get annoying, I have insurance and everything, but I really don't want to exchange it for another one because I've read that other people who have had there phones replaced have still had the same rebooting problem, even after going through multiple replacements.

Aug 7, 2010Under each contact person it gives the chance to enter numerous numbers (i.e. home, mobile, work). then when u go to that person it gives a ton of options. For example if work, home and mobile are all listed it will give the option to call all 3 numbers and send message to all 3 numbers. Obviously I can't send message to work or home numbers. So....my questions is can I somehow delete the options to send message to home and work numbers? That way the the only options listed are: call home, call work, call mobile and message mobile. Also I did it once and forget how...but how can I change which number is the primary one on a person's contact list?

HTC Incredible : How To Clear My Contact List Of My Twitter - Start Over With My Google-saved Contacts
Aug 27, 2010I recently had my DI replaced due to a tech issue, but before I switched over I backed up everything using "My Backup Pro".
When it backed up my contacts, it backed up EVERYONE - including 550+ people I follow in Twitter. I did not have these as visible in my People (phonebook) list, just in Twitter. When I synced with my new DI, My Backup Pro installed every contact to my People list, as the app must have thought it was all part of my phonebook. I tried to make the list invisible like I had it on my original phone, but that did not work, so I deleted each Twitter contact manually from my People list. They no longer show in my People list (though are available to be made visible from Twitter).
This did not solve the problem. Any app that accesses my contact list (even Search People) displays the FULL list which includes my Twitter contacts. There is no long-press or menu options available to hide them.
I am willing to clear my contacts and upload the list again, as they are all backed up to my Google account, but I am afraid it would sync with the server and delete what is saved there.
Any advice on how to clear my contact list of my Twitter followers, or start over with my Google-saved contacts?

Nov 12, 2010First of all, I am running stock 2.2 on an unbranded Desire, with latest firmware from HTC. Sometimes when I go to my messages and say, click on messages from "John", messages from a random other contact come up. If I click back and click John again, the correct messages appear. It doesn't happen all the time (maybe once every few days?), but unless I am careful I end up sending a message to the wrong person. I have tried restarting the phone, but don't really want to factory reset for such a minor issue. Never happened under 2.1.

Jul 20, 2010Sorry I am a bit of a newbie on phones.I kept with my Motorola 1000 till I got a Desire. On this phone on the SIM card I could store several numbers for each contact/person.I swapped the SIM card into the Desire, and all the first number for each contact is there, but I can find no way to access the other numbers e.g. landline that I had against each contact/person.Does anyone know where I am going wrong?
