I just rooted my phone, I had to get the 2GB pny card from wally world and I have a bigger SD card. I'd like to use but don't wanna lose my WiFi tether, and I've heard you have to have the file on my pny to keep it, theres a way to do this.

So i ended up rooting using my PNY 2gif card. Is there any files on this sd card that I need, or can I just swap back my stock VZW one without loosing root.
View 2 Replies View RelatedVery happy with the i9000 in the last few days of ownership, using launcher pro in place of stock but otherwise mostly unchanged. One issue we have is that after being at home overnight on WiFi, the phone doesn't automatically re enable 3g. To restore the mobile data you have to go into the network operator selection and re select Optus (our carrier here in Aus). Leaving it on auto doesn't help, and you have to manually choose it each time (ie: it "forgets" what I selected or something). Using apndroid to mangle the apn on/off doesn't help. Restarting the phone fixes it but obviously not ideal.
Have tried entering the code to change it to gsm only instead of the default wcdma/gsm auto with no benefit. When the mobile data is working, it happily switches between 2g and 3g, but will sometimes simply stop working as per the wifi overnight problem and I have to manually select the operator again. This happens very randomly and can go several days without drama, our only a few minutes. While this data won't connect, the phone capabilities aren't affected and you can make and receive calls fine. In fact if you dial a number it sometimes causes the data to re connect.
It worked last time I was rooted but just rooted again after 2.2. My computer recognizes it but when I try to connect it just says no internet access.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI had wireless tether working before going to 2.2. Now it appears to be working on the phone, but on the computer it shows "Local Only". I tried uninstalling, rebooting then reinstalling... no luck with that.
Also, I am part of the Swype Beta. I had Swype resend the email when I updated to 2.2 and reinstalled. It works until I reboot my phone, then it goes into "tap only" mode. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.

This information is provided to attempt to help other people in the community that were having the same issues I was for the OTA. The way I did my OTA and got root back is this: (simplified version)
- install unrevoked 3, and unrevoked forevor (s-off)
- wait for OTA message
- click install later
- reboot into recovery
- do nand backup
- find and download stock 2.1 recovery zip file

- find and download (to a different location) clockworks mod zip file

(near the bottom of the page)
- place stock 2.1 recovery file on root of sd card
- reboot into hboot
- hboot will ask to install recovery update
- click yes
- reboot back to OS
- wait for OTA message
- click install now
- wait for 10-30 minutes while phone does OTA update
- place clockworksmod zip file onto root of sd card (overwriting/deleting the 2.1 stock zip file in the process)
- reboot into Hboot
- when asked allow hboot to update recovery again
- reboot phone
- uninstall any old super user program you had on your phone
- install this new one using the information on this link

Okay, I've asked this question in several other threads and forums, but never gotten a clear answer:
If I use Titanium to back up my Inc w/ 2.1+rooted+Leaked OTA , can I safely restore all apps, settings (including email account settings, wallpaper, home screens), and appearance once I install the Froyo 2.2 that leaked today?
I've seen some posts that say you should never apply system settings from an old ROM to a new one, but the whole reason I bought Titanium was so that I wouldn't have to re-set up all my home screens, background images, wallpapers, email accounts, etc. If I wanted to just backup/restore apps, there are a million ways to do that. I thought the whole reason Titanium only works on a rooted phone was so that I could restore EVERYTHING.
How can I SAFELY use Titanium to move to the leaked Froyo ROM without losing any of my settings, apps, or appearance?
I have been getting a error message in my notification bar that says "mounted read only--the sd card has an unexpected problem. tap this to fix" well it usually get fixed when I tap the message but not today, the message keeps coming back, any ideas?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew DINC owner here, I am somewhat questing if my battery is anygood on my new phone. I unplugged my phone with a 100% charge and the green light on. I made one 4 minute phone call and viewed 4 emails and in that 10 minutes my battery went from 100% to 90%.
Stats are:
Unplugged for 10m 22s
android system 92%
voice calls 4%
cell standby 2%
WiFi 2%
Just viewing the battery use screen brought my phone down to 88%. Is this draining to fast? I also noticed last night at work I walked in with a 100% charge, I played around online a good amount and looked at some apps. Within an hour my battery life was down to about 60%. I realize these phones use a lot of battery but this one seems to be losing it's charge in a real hurry, my Blackberry was no where near this bad.
Is anyone else having trouble with custom ringtones being lost anytime the phone reboots. I keep creating them from mp3's using the stock ringtone trimmer (which is an AWESOME feature BTW) and every time I reboot the phone, they get lost and go back to the standard ringtone. I've searched here and other places a few times and haven't found any answers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an evo4g and rooted it. I run 2.2 and a month old version of fresh or so.Anyway, just got a usb dongle at newegg for $7. I plugged it in and it connected my phone flawlessly for audio. Basically for audio all I do is toggle bluetooth on on the phone, then.. hit play and music is coming thru my computer speakers. That said - I can't seem to connect for bluetooth wifi. Is there a different driver for the phone that I need to d/l somewhere? Going to the windows 7 (I run win 7 ultimate) it says about my phone under the services tab:
BRCM Advanced Audio
Handsfree Telephony Gateway
Object Push (Obex)
This leads me to believe I need a different driver perhaps? When I go to "Join a Personal Area Network" there are no devices listed. I try to add device but it doesn't find my phone.I know this is kinda complicated so if you dont understand my problem please ask for a clarification.
I'm switching from iPhone to the EVO. Someone mentioned that free tethering can be enabled after rooting.
