HTC Incredible :: Receiving Strange Text Message Repeatedly
Aug 3, 2010During the first couple of weeks, back in June, when I received my Incredible I was receiving text messages from the same individual or something whom I don't know. The messages looked like this: 4756://BREW:0108f3d4:GCD. After a while I stopped receiving them. Now tonight I received another one. Does anybody know anything about this or has anyone else received these messages?

Jul 9, 2010Every once in a while I receive an empty text message that says the sender is anonymous and has no phone number assigned to it. It also shows as being saved to the sim card, which is weird coz the others arent! anyone ever received anything like this too? I didn't get this on my old Sony Ericsson w995 which used the same Sim and plan that i am on now.

Jun 3, 2010Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

Oct 25, 2010I have a desire on orange.Dont think this is really an android thing but i haven't got a clue where else to ask.Since getting my phone i regularly get a text/SMS message which on opening has nothing in it that i can see.i cant get any other info about the sender other than what is on the picture.how do i stop them coming through or are they needed [from my service provider].i have a virus program etc and am careful, just want to know how to stop this annoying text appearing.

Dec 1, 2010So my girlfriend is having an issue with her phone. I don't see it being an issue with mine but it might be something else. She is receiving non-alpha numeric characters in her text messages. So far shes gotten it from me and one of her other friends not knowing what to say she called it "caligraphy". Anyways, I am on Metro and her friend is on Verizon. I'd figure its a CDMA issue but she is on a Samsung Moment on Sprint which is also CDMA so idunno.
To me they send fine, but to her some of the texts she receives come in all garbled. Not sure whats going on, anyone got any ideas? Her phone is unrooted, stock, and like a week and a half ago had a factory reset done. Its 2.1 android. In this screenshot I asked her to forward me the "jibberish." She had tried to do it several times earlier but i never got the messages, this time i got it so heres a screenie for you all.

I've got handcent installed and I've got it set up so that when I receive a text, the quick reply box pops up for 10/20 seconds. But if I'm away from my phone and I later check to see if I've received a text, the only indication I have is a small icon on the navigation bar.

All of my text threads got erased when I went to reply to someone. The weirder part is that a few hours later, all of my texts had the mail symbol with a green "i" next to it, signifying that it was pending. People receive the messages, but mine all have a pending status.

"{recipientname}" is replaced by the name of the recipient that I get from the Contacts via Contacts.People.
For convenience, I'd like to replace "{sendername}" with the name of the sender, that means the name of the owner of the phone. (As stored in the email app, under Account Settings -> General Settings -> Your name) So, obviously that name is stored somewhere, ...
My question:
Is there any way to access this name via a content provider ? Or is there any other way to get a string (e.g. "John Doe" ) with the name of the owner/user of the device ?

No problem I thought, i'll send a business card. No I won't because I can't! No worries I thought i'll search google for an app, heard of an app called ciacs contact sender. Can't find it on the android market so any ideas where I go now?
