HTC Incredible :: Lock Screen - Need Emergency Contact
May 15, 2010I need a feature I cannot find on my HTC Incredible. I have the phone locked so if I would lose the phone it would be more difficult to steal some of my information. But....
I need to have emergency contact information on the lock screen. For example, if I were unconscious or just lost the phone, how would some Good Samaritian know who to contact? I cannot find anyplace to enter this type of information. Had this on my previous phones (Palm) and miss it!
Android :: Setup Contact List / Auto Complete Feature Not Showing All
Feb 5, 2010I recently got the G1 and used my Gmail account online (via computer) to setup my contact list and then sync it to my G1. Now when I compose an SMS message, and begin typing the name of the person in my contact list, only some of the names that match will appear in the drop down auto-complete list but others that match don't show up at all. To compose SMS to them I have to use the Contacts>Scroll to contact>Select text to mobile method. Any ideas why some of the contacts do not show up in the auto-complete list when composing an SMS and typing in a partial name in the To field?

Jul 12, 2010My wife brought up a good point the other day. In case of emergency, my phone couldn't be used to identify myself, or be used to contact her. This seems to be a major oversight on Googles part. When locked, all you can do is dial a number from the emergency screen. There is no option to call someone listed as an emergency contact. Leaving my phone unlocked is not an option.

May 5, 2010I added a few numbers and names to my contacts and a few hours later when I went to view the contact list one of the names was on the screen inside a transparent black box and wouldn't clear even though i could scroll through the list. Has anyone had this happen? I want to know how or why it was there. It took restarting the phone to clear it.

Apr 29, 2010Just got my Incredible and it is rocking. Damn this thing is fast! I notice that when I try to compose an sms message, the contact search list contains ALL of my contacts (phone + Google). This is super annoying, as I literally have thousands of Google contacts and some people have numerous accounts, so it's incredibly difficult to sort through and is honestly the first thing I have seen the phone start to choke on. The 'People' widget has a 'View' setting that allows me to limit by just phone contacts, but I can't seem to find any sort of filter in the search when I'm composing a message. I can type each name individually and select, but having a big list would be nice. Again, I'd like to be able to select message recipients from a list containing only phone contacts.

Aug 7, 2010Under each contact person it gives the chance to enter numerous numbers (i.e. home, mobile, work). then when u go to that person it gives a ton of options. For example if work, home and mobile are all listed it will give the option to call all 3 numbers and send message to all 3 numbers. Obviously I can't send message to work or home numbers. So....my questions is can I somehow delete the options to send message to home and work numbers? That way the the only options listed are: call home, call work, call mobile and message mobile. Also I did it once and forget how...but how can I change which number is the primary one on a person's contact list?

HTC Incredible : How To Clear My Contact List Of My Twitter - Start Over With My Google-saved Contacts
Aug 27, 2010I recently had my DI replaced due to a tech issue, but before I switched over I backed up everything using "My Backup Pro".
When it backed up my contacts, it backed up EVERYONE - including 550+ people I follow in Twitter. I did not have these as visible in my People (phonebook) list, just in Twitter. When I synced with my new DI, My Backup Pro installed every contact to my People list, as the app must have thought it was all part of my phonebook. I tried to make the list invisible like I had it on my original phone, but that did not work, so I deleted each Twitter contact manually from my People list. They no longer show in my People list (though are available to be made visible from Twitter).
This did not solve the problem. Any app that accesses my contact list (even Search People) displays the FULL list which includes my Twitter contacts. There is no long-press or menu options available to hide them.
I am willing to clear my contacts and upload the list again, as they are all backed up to my Google account, but I am afraid it would sync with the server and delete what is saved there.
Any advice on how to clear my contact list of my Twitter followers, or start over with my Google-saved contacts?

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. Nov 8, 2010I was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

I already have to do the make new phone contact thing to keep high resolution pictures. Anyway that is working fine however there are a few different places I get messages from short code services. Is it possible to give these shortcodes an icon WITHOUT having them show up in my contact list? So have an icon for messages from shortcode 65146 or whatever. I obviously don't want the shortcode to show up in my contact list since I would never call it or reply to it unless I wanna stop it.

Apr 30, 2010I started this thread because i think i'm amongst the majority here so maybe we can get some specific responses.Here's what i'm looking for
- Form Fitting so as not to add bulk, but thick enough to provide some protection in case it's dropped. Also thin enough so that it will fit in any desktop charger/cradle that comes out.
- No high ridges (Especially on front like on the Body Glove) so that it doesnt block access to Optical Joystick, Volume Rocker, Power Button and USB Port.
- One piece - So if/when it's dropped the phone doesnt explode into a yard sale and it stays protected.
- Protection for Camera (Flush)
- Carry over styling on stock back cover (doesnt matter to me but may to some)
- Material - enough grip so that it wont slip out of your hand or off your shoulder but not too much so that you can't get it out/into your jeans.
- Color selection (but black is fine)
HTC Incredible :: Unprotected Without A Case
Apr 30, 2010I'm 24 hrs in, haven't dropped the phone yet, and I am NOT using "protection" .
I'm curious to hear if any of you new Incredible owners have dropped your phone yet (unprotected/without a case)!
I'm not all that interested in any of the cases that are available so far and would like to wait until something better comes along.
In the meantime, I'm curious to hear how this thing holds up to drops. Scuffs? Dings? Scratches? Explosions?
On a side note, I did absent mindedly drop my phone into the same pocket as my keys for no more than 90 seconds. When I pulled it out there were 3 or 4 tiny scratches on the top-left corner....luckily they are barely noticeable....whew, I'm an idiot!
Side note: I did promptly purchase a screen protector after that, but am still holding out for some better cases or to hear how these things hold up to some light, accident prone abuse.
I did see that someone already has a thread going referencing their phone dropping, however, this phone was protected....I am interested in hearing from those of you thrill seekers (like me) that don't use protection!

Apr 30, 2010I had a Seidio spring holster for my Palm Pre and loved it. I'm going to look for a case plus a holster for my Incredible. I would like something that isn't slippery and preferably one piece, so when I drop it things don't go flying. I use my phone as my music player at the gym, so access to the headphone port is very important to me.
