HTC Incredible :: Actual Processor Speed Clocked Down Into 700s Out Of Box
Jun 4, 2010Tried searching but havent found anything that specifically answers the question. I had heard that the processor was actually clocked down into the 700s out of the box even though its a 1ghz processor. Is this true? if it is about what are we running at?

May 24, 2010So i was out the other night with a few friends and we decided to race our phones going to various web sites. We laid all three phones down in a triangle next to each other. We would all type in the same web site and hit go at the same time. My incredible was killing them. Compared to the droid, the incredible would load the site about 5 seconds faster. The iphone was not even close. One site took about 15 to 20 seconds longer to load on the iPhone. They were shocked at how fast the incredible was. I am so glad I have this phone!

Feb 19, 2010I've only had my Hero for just over a week and am more convinced now that I made the right choice for my mobile upgrade. It's fantastic. I just thought I'd add my 2p worth to the posts about the Hero and my (relatively) short time with it.
My last two mobiles, both on contract, were Symbian. I had the E61 first and just upgraded to the Hero from a Nokia E71. The E71 was a great phone, but the OS is looking old and tired now. I like Symbian very much as a mobile OS, but it hasn't been updated enough to keep up with the times and it is increasingly becoming a frustration to use. After nearly three years, I really needed a change and Android was the obvious choice.
The biggest gripe almost all reviewers have with the Hero is the laggy performance. Well, yes it does start to stutter if you have a lot of apps running and I suspect this is as much to do with the processor as with Android. It's a relatively new OS and will take time to get things working properly. As for the frustration of the lag, I have to disagree with the reviewers, but for different reasons.
If you want to experience a slow OS with constant lag, no matter how many apps are running, you should spend some time with Symbian. It is painfully slow compared to the Hero, even on a bad day. There really is no contest. So, it really does depend on what you're used to and what you expect. I expected similar performance from the Hero, based on the complaints in many reviews, to my Symbian running E71. Yet, in reality, the two are poles apart! I'd never go back to the Symbian we currently have after spending eight days with Android on the Hero. Everything is much faster and looks absolutely amazing.
The features of the Hero as a mobile phone are astounding and I think Android does well in its current incarnation to take advantage of them. I am very, very happy with my choice of mobile. I spent a number of weeks deciding on which mobile to go with as I took out a new 18mth contract and knew I could be stuck with a poor choice for the duration. My fears about the poor OS performance weren't borne out because of what I'm used to using on the E71 and that was a relief.
Like or hate Google, they have a lot of resources to throw at their OS and that can only mean good things for us fans of innovation. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Symbian shapes up over the next few years and whether it can become a real contender for the open OS crown. In the meantime, I am having a blast with my new best friend. I also take my hat off to HTC, they certainly know how to produce excellent phones.
Android :: Want App That Shows Processor Speed
May 12, 2010Is there an app that i can download that shows my processor speed? I have seen them on phones that have been rooted and overclocked, but never seen one for stock.I am on a Motorola Droid running stock 2.1-update 1. I dont want to hear "just root and overclock." If anyone knows of an app or tool that will show this.

Aug 22, 2010I've been deciding for days whether to go with HTC Legend or HTC Desire. The processor speed is what gets me, is 600mhz enough for alot of multitasking or should i throw up the extra 100 dollars and get that 1ghz processor.
Edit: Also can it play HQ videos on youtube with sufficient speed.

I thought few things are common like screen resolution, almost similar processor speed. With OSX you will get all multitouch, good performance and of coerce ITunes store.

Feb 13, 2010So the milestone and droid run a 550mhz processor, correct me if i am wrong, and that can be overclocked to run faster.
But with the new phones like the Supersonic, and the Scorpian from HTC running at the 1.5ghz does that mean those phones will stomp out the speed compared to the droid. Does that make them better phones?
Since the Nexus One runs a 1ghz as well, does that make it faster than the droid?

Oct 18, 2010So I have velocity 3 and turbo 4 and things are running good just not as good as what other people are clocking. I cant get past 600 mhz on setpcu. I can slide the bar past 600 to 787 but it says I am still only running at 600.

Upload: 148kbps
Wifi: Download: 7620kbps
Upload: 1344kbps I find it a little strange that my UL is so low on the wifi. My connection is about 9.5Mbps up and down.

Oct 22, 2009So I was very happy to show off my Hero to my friend who just got his pre. Anyway he was on this website to check his internet speed on his pre and so I wanted to check mine. I was averaging ~500kbps and I hit 1000kbps once. But my friend, he was averaging 8.5MBps, yes MBps. Obviously same network, at the same time. What up wit dat?
We also tried to go to websites we had never been to at the same time and he was beating me pretty handly. Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys were getting? Site is mobilespeedtest.com, then it run test and post results! Whoa, just did it right now and I got 1311kbps.

And when it does connect, it (a) either doesn't work at all (browser, speed test, nothing registers an internet connection) or (b) works for a minute, then (a) happens. Motorola Milestone :: Graphics Lag Test - Running 2.0.1?
Apr 7, 2010Apparantly the 2.1 update has reduced the graphics capabilities of the Droid, and therefore I'm assuming the Milestone too. Unfortunately, I never ran the lag test before I updated to 2.1 so I can't say whether my phone is better or worse off in the graphics department. Currently running official 2.1, my average fps sits at about 37. Can anyone still running 2.0.1 download this app , run it, and post their results here? I'd be interested to know whether the reports on the Droid's graphics are the same as on our Milestones. And of course we then need to make Motorola aware!

Apr 22, 2010Fully charged, never registered/activated, new, 8GB card in place, fingerprints wiped off. Ready... you'd think. I press the right hand power button, and see "Airplane Mode is on" and the time. Battery indicates full, time is correct. If I push the MENU button, I feel the buzz and the screen goes black with htc in the middle. Pushing the power button goes DARK, then back to Airplane Mode. All four touch points (Home, menu, back, and search) produce the buzz but do nothing. I haven't found the RESET button, and it's not in the Index. What basic, simple thing have I missed? Unfortunately, there's no 10 year old kid around to show me how to operate this #$!! thing.

Next, Do i really need much processor power at all when screen is off? Why cant i just dial this way down so the battery is barely being used when screen is off? (how low can i go and still have no issues with email/messaging sync?)
Right now I have "screen off" profile set to 284/245. Is this why there is a bit of lag when unlocking? And is did i just answer my own question above? Meaning is this the reason why its not good to crank it way down during screen off?
