I tried Sky Raider's rom last night and i did a nandroid backup beforehand, then used titanium to restore all my apps + data
well one hour later i decide to go back to my nandroid backup, theres apps missing and titanium backup fails to restore them? Nandroid is supposed to make it exactly as it was before no?

Perhaps it was only a one time occurrence, but long story short I can confirm that if you have a rooted phone, make a backup, unroot for some reason, then reroot, you can in fact restore to your backup.

I will probably miss sense and go back but I love all the options! I do miss being able to just restore data with nandroid backups on droid. Made flashing so easy. I am afraid to try this with the Inc. Anyone do this ever?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a question about restoring nandroid backups. I have quite a few ROMs saved as backups, for switching if I want to try something else. I have White Widow 4.4 installed right now, and am apparently stuck with it since when trying to roll back to Aloysius or anything else. When I go to restore a back up, after wiping dalvik/data, I get this error. Error : run 'nandroid-mobile.shrestore' via adb! What the heck are they talking about? I hope this isn't something simple and stupid, but I am out to sea right now with no access to my computer. Please assist! Thanks guys! Also, WW4.4 rules.

I know I have the update.zip option, but that seems to introduce issues for some that I want to avoid.Now, I know I have a few options. I can batch backup apps and data with Titanium Backup, then wipe, install the new build, and then restore via Titanium. Or, I can do a nandroid backup of my phone, wipe, install the new build, and then restore only the data partition of my first backup.My question is, are either of these methods any different from just using the update.zip version of BB? For example, when I upgraded from BB .7.8 to 1.0, I lost root and had to do a full wipe and I just manually reinstalled everything. Will doing the data partition restore or titanium backup restore result in the same issues?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI turned on DEBUG_CHECK_GL_ERROR for my GLSurfaceView to try to figure out why I'm having a problem on pause/ resume/reload everything, and when I turned it on, I got an UnsupportedOperationException when calling GL11.glGenBuffers() (for creating Vertex Buffer Objects).
Why is it saying that operation is unsupported when:
1) The vertex_buffer_object extension is listed on the target device and my code checks for it before trying to use VBOs.
2) VBOs are working correctly (and really well might I add).
This is on a G1. Yes, I know the G1 is only OpenGL ES 1.0 compliant and I'm trying to use a 1.1 extension, but if the phone lists the extension, doesn't that mean I can use it? Also - the extension works! Does this mean that it works but use-at-your-own-risk, kinda like how SoundPool was in Android 1.0?

View 31 Replies View RelatedSo I am trying to root my phone I am at the point where I am rooted and I have made a nandroid backup. I have moved those files to my computer and put the bugless beast nandroid files in their place. The problem is when I go to Droidroothelper and select reboot/recovery my phone reboots and the /! comes up on my screen and a line on the bottom says E: can't open /cache/recovery/command......
any tips I dont know what to do to load the nandroid backup of the bugless beast.
Just curious what you guys normally have freed up on your phones, since this is normally a way of speeding things up a bit. I've been reading today about how Task Killers are somewhat counter-intuitive and do not help with battery life. So I deleted and I'm now thinking about not having enough free memory... Figures.
Anyways, I'm 25mb right now, and I've hovered between there and about 125mb today. I'm curious what you guys are normally seeing. If I'm not using a task killer, is there something else you might recommend to keep things running smoothly?
I rooted with Un revoked 3. I installed the Virtuous Rom 2.7 with Custom Kernel. I restored all apps from Titanium, but my MMS/SMS did not return. I had to restore from My Backup Pro. I would like to only keep one and use one Backup app. Is this normal for Titanium?

What are my options for restoring?
I would love to try other roms or other things requiring a wipe, but id hate to re-download all apps and change all settings all over again.
For my first wipe, i ended up downloading each app one by one. Im assuming there is a more convenient way?
Can i also restore phone settings if i want to?
Do I really need to install these apps on my own one by one, or is there a way to make it install automatically? This is going to be a pain if I need to sit here and select Install then Done for each freakin app.

But when I factory reset my phone and try to restore the contacts it only gives me about 1/3 of them. What gives? The only problem is I have no idea how. I have ROM Manager installed. I read I need to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery so I did that. However, when I try to reboot into recovery either through Rom Manager or just holding volume down and power I get nothing. Does anyone have a clear and detailed guide on what to do? I'm not dead set on using Rom Manager I was just reading that it'd be easier.
