I read in the manual that the Incredible will support multitouch for certain apps. There is no mention, however, of using multitouch to zoom the map application - the manual makes reference to double tapping the screen to zoom. Does anyone know if the Incredible will use multitouch in the map app like the Droid is able to?

When I try to pinch zoom in, it sometimes zooms out twice as hard.
When I try to pinch zoom out, it sometimes zooms in twice as hard.
When I try to pinch zoom in or out, it sometimes just moves the map.
With sometimes I mean, every time I'm in google maps all 3 of those problems occur more than it works normal.
Is anyone else having extremely glitchy pinch to zoom on their Google map?
Double tap to zoom in works. I have Traffic Layered. My pinch to zoom is working for everything else like Sense UI.
it should not zoom in too much (x < minZoomLevel etc) or zoom out too much (only one size - width or height - can get smaller than the display size)

I actually happen to like the default browser better than those two, I really just want multitouch. Named 'xScope', I did put a $2.99 price tag tough if you please excuse me. I need to buy a bird for this thanksgiving and wife kept bashing my development effort for not doing any housework in the past weeks. The browser is not full blown but works great for simple surfing.

This is SE official announcment about multitouch, and few month ago they say that it was not possible, but now they say that X10 support this. What to think people some alliens fly down and changed our mobiles or SE was able from the beggining to make multitouch and he didn't wanted. Htc Hero is supposed to be a multi touch device, you can pinch to zoom in browser and in photo viewer, the thing that I can't understand is why all other applications don't support multitouch.
For example I downloaded snesoid and nesoid and there is written in the options that my firmware (1.5) doesnt' support multitouch, making it impossible to play games.
So is HTC hero with 1.5 really multitouch or not? And will I be able to use multitouch in emulators and other apps downloaded from the market when the 2.1 will come out?
I am using senseable rom on my phone. But I noticed that the maps and navigation do not allow pinch to zoom even though it is a rooted image. Is there a way to install the correct one that will allow this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need an application with which I can store maps with different zoom levels. I remember the application "Istanbul Map" let me do this and I could download Google (or other sources') maps from the zoom level I was in up to the maximum zoom level of my preference. Therefore, assuming that I had downloaded the map, when zoomed out I could only see street names and when zoomed in I could see the shops and their names or any other details corresponding to that zoom level, in case I had set the maximum zoom level to 17, 18 or 19.
However it's been two years that I haven't used that application and now that I downloaded "Istanbul Map" from Google Play I noticed that it doesn't offer the same features as before and it seems that it is specifically for Istanbul. Besides, I need to buy the application in order to use it while the previous versions were free.
Now that I am going on a trip and while on way I might need to zoom in up to the 18th zoom level to see the names of stores or other details. So I need an application that provides me the same feature as the old "Istanbul Map" letting me download Google maps for different zoom levels.The built-in Google maps application only allows to download a map with a fixed zoom level and it is useless for me.
I've got 2 GeoPoints given to show them on the map with markers... so far so good...
how can I get the optimum zoom level for the MapController in order to focus the middle of both points, but also have them on the map.

So I just picked up my Eris yesterday. For the most part it is working great right now but a couple things are a little annoying.
First, pinch zoom isn't working in the Google Maps app. Should it? Works great in the browser when surfing the web but not in maps for some reason.
Second, it clicks at me. For example, I'll hit the red power/call end button when I'm done using it to turn off the display. Then I'll set it down on the table or something and it makes these little intermittent click sounds just sitting there. After 5 minutes or so it stops. It isn't constant, just a couple clicks ever 10-30 seconds for a little bit then stops.
New to these parts...
Is Pinch-to-Zoom stock on the Google maps app? or is my only option rooting the phone?
