Also - I would like some more feedback on those who have this Droid X Keyboard on their Evo.
Am I right in that the stock HTC Sense keyboard on the EVO doesn't do multitouch? If that is the case, is there any way to enable this or does it require a marketplace keyboard?

Looks like someone over at XDA's got this ported. Already confirmed to be incompatible with Froyo, but I'm sure there are plenty of people running 2.1 that want to give this a try.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been having typing issues with the HTC keyboard not seeming to support multitouch and I'm almost positive that it didn't i.e. when I'd hit two buttons at the same time only one would register leading to zillions of typos because I suck. Well anyway, I went and downloaded and installed the Skype keyboard, didn't like it, and went back to the HTC keyboard. Now it appears that after the Skype installation multitouch is magically enabled on the HTC keyboard.

Does anyone know if this device will EVER get MT on the soft boards? I have read elsewhere in the forum of people swearing it has it, but it just isn't true. What's the point of it being capable of it when the function that needs it most is lacking it?

When I choose to reply to an email(or anytime I use the keyboard), Espanol appears in the Spacebar position. Yes, the spacebar still works but the the suggested words appear in Spanish as I key letters in. I checked and rechecked English in the Language/Keyboard option in Settings but it will not go back to English. This started a few days ago and I do not know why?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI read in the manual that the Incredible will support multitouch for certain apps. There is no mention, however, of using multitouch to zoom the map application - the manual makes reference to double tapping the screen to zoom. Does anyone know if the Incredible will use multitouch in the map app like the Droid is able to?

Dev = ne0fhyk from XDA.
From the XDA forum: Link to app page = [APP][ROOT/Keyboard] Keyboard Manager - Dual keyboard: Portrait/landscape switch - xda-developers
Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'
Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon
-' start on boot' feature is disabled because it's not yet complete and tested... Sorry for the confusion
Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.
The app is still in development.
For those of you that are familiar with better keyboard. I was wondering about an easy way to switch from the t9 keyboard to the regular qwerty keyboard. I was under the impression that swiping left would toggle between the 2 but all that does is bring me to the numbers and symbols keyboard. I've been changing back and forth to the android keyboard because its faster than going into the better keyboard settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm developing an application that must handle multitouch. Basically I want single touch for rotating ( this is no problem ). And multitouch for scrolling.
I have the basic code in, but I'm having problems when the shift from single to multitouch, and vice verca, occur. Basically the movement will jolt because the median position of the multitouch ( two fingers ) and the absolute position of the single finger are at a distance. So if I have two fingers on the screen, they make up a median position, and then lift one finger, it would be like a quick movement from that median position to the absolute single finger position. This will be the movement that I don't want.
This is my code:
CODE:........
The onTouchDown function of the camera just sets the first value of the touch move. That's why I also use it in the up movement to set a new begin value for the single touch movement when coming from a multitouch.
Just listened to the Engadget podcast and they said that this device has no multi touch functionality period out of the box. Even the software keyboard does not have it according to them. I need to know if this is real or not it is really bothering me right now. The main reason it is bothering me is because if you go on the VZW Droid Does website in all the features right between turn by turn nav and GTAlk you will see that multitouch is advertised right there. Why would they advertise it if the device does not support it?

View 16 Replies View Relatedit should not zoom in too much (x < minZoomLevel etc) or zoom out too much (only one size - width or height - can get smaller than the display size)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to do is draw circles around two points that are being touched, and as the fingers drag along on the screen, have these circles follow each finger.
However, I'm getting some weird behavior that I can't figure out. So when I place two fingers on the screen I get my circles no problem. When I drag around with the two fingers everything works like I want it. However, if I lift the first finger, everything stops redrawing, and the second finger that is still on the screen stops being tracked. If I place the first finger back on, everything behaves good again. I figure I must be handling the two fingers poorly.
Also, if I have two fingers on the screen, and I lift and touch the second finger, everything behaves well. It's only in the case where I have two fingers and I lift the first one do I see a problem.
