So I thought I read somewhere that once rooted, you can modify which programs startup on a fresh boot of the phone.am i making things up or can anybody help me find that info? i've gone back seven pages of threads and can't find anything in search either

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a HUAWEI Y300-0100, and it comes with a funny feature: every time it can't connect to WIFI a popup message appears saying that if you switch to data plan charges may apply.
I am constantly switching between WIFI/no-WIFI zones so that message really bothered me, and I searched a way to disable it.
Presumably, the only way to do that is by modifying a system file called "build.prop". I already had my phone rooted so doing so wasn't very hard.I used Jota+ to change a setting from "true" to "false" (ro.config.hw******), and saved the file in the root of the SD card. Then, with ES File Explorer, I renamed the "build.prop" in /system to "build.prop.bak" and copied there the "build.prop" I previously saved in the SD root.All seemed to be fine, except that after rebooting my phone it could not get past the HUAWEI logo.
Android recovery mode seems to work, but I don't know how to use a lot of its options nor I want to do a Factory Reset if there's a better alternative.Is there a way to modify system files before booting Android? I really would like to try to delete the "build.prop" file and rename the "build.prop.bak" back to "build.prop".
I have a Lenovo A516 rooted. I deleted some Lenovo pre-installed files that made my phone unstable and now it's stuck in boot.. I can get into my Android System recovery but what can I do from here? Can I try loading a custom ROM or should I find Lenovos factory ROM and load that?

In HTC, I get the option to add widgets, programs, shortcuts and folders to my home screen. Using LP, I only have the option to add to dock or home screen shortcuts, widgets, folders, and wallpaper; no programs. I especially want to add programs like Jorte to my dock. I'm sure that I am missing something easy but I cannot figure it out. I really like LP but I am frustrated.

Right now I'm using ShadowRom (love it) with LauncherPro and Folder Organizer as a solution but it's a wee bit laggy. I have like 50 game apps and I put them into a Games folder on my homescreen and then used LauncherPro to hide the games in the All Programs Menu to get rid of some of the clutter.

So the DI has the 7 screens that you can cycle through. The first one is home, then I swipe left and its full screen Favorites, on more to the left is full screen calendar. If I go left from home screen, its full screen mail.
So my question is, how can you make other apps/programs/widgets full screen? For example have google maps open full screen or photos or message etc. I can drag the little icon to a new page but it stays that small icon size.
The 2 programs I have of concern are both unavailable on the market.Shapewriter and a legal beta of Swype. My phone needs a factory because screwy things are happening.Although I screwed up my swype by deleting the installer, which i though i could do, so that doesn't work any longer now anyway.Is there a way to save the programs fro later?

If I try to add a program to my home scree, none of the apps recently installed (e.g mint.com, yelp, dictionary) show up in the list. But if I go to "All programs", they are there. Has anyone else had such a problem?
View 2 Replies View Relatedafter my update i noticed programs opening in the background all the time. between this, the choppy everything, and pandora never closing, i decided to do the hard reset. after that, i just had to reinstall apps. now its smooth and faster than ever. so, the issue ATK still shows apps open that were not open before. i kill them and check in 20 and sometimes things like Skype and pandora are open but i never started the app. i am thinking that the ATK isnt working. to even push this idea more, now when i surf the net, i close it with the ATK. it says its closed but when i open the internet again, its on the same page i left it on. why not my home page as before. i did set my home page.
View 12 Replies View RelatedThis thing doesn't seem as if though it was designed to be used in landscape at all. The desktop can not go landscape along with many other programs.
But the biggest issue I am seeing is that the landscape keyboard doesn't seem to assume the same rules as the qwerty portrait. When you are in landscape and make a typing mistake it will not auto correct. No matter what the settings. If you searching something in google or typing in chat program it will not stop suggesting words to you. No matter the settings. But the worst offending issue is that in a chat program like meboo you can not see your conversation while typing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn the phone on programs like blue tooth share, calender storage, facebook for htc sense, flickr, footprints, city ID, friend stream,maps, peep, visual voice mail....are all opened on their own. I have no option to force stop. And even if i use an ap killer to end them, they come back on their own.
I've got to imagine this is effecting my battery and usage...how do I stop these from running on their own. There is nothing in settings that I can do?
Seems like there are a lot of programs, when I look at my task killer that have started on their own for example
Footprints (what the heck is that anyway... wanted to uninstall but can't)

Is there a "msconfig" of sorts where I can stop them from starting on their own or....?
Is there a way to create a folder that will show up in the "all programs" list? I"d like to clean up the screen by putting all the games in the "games" folder, etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.
Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...
I would like to change the boot animation on my droid incredible I saw these 2 threads on here. I downloaded all the zip files and I've been trying to change the boot animation with terminal emulator. I'd like to change to the boot animation with the droid peeing on the apple logo. I'm have no knowledge of programming and the more I read these the more confused I become. Has anyone been able to change the boot animation using terminal emulator? Ever time I try to change it the apps keeps telling me "permission denied."

Say I have a header (just 2 textviews) that will remain at the top and below that is a search box and button (main.xml). The user searches and I have it display the search UI (search.xml). This UI will have the same header (2 textviews) and below it will have several textviews each one containing a search result... Kinda like if you search for an app in the market. There's no way of telling how many results would be returned so I figured I would have to create each textview on the fly within the .java file. I'm not sure how to do this. Most likely would require a loop of some sort, but whats the syntax to create a new textview and display it right below the one above it? I'm working with linear here so I would assume just creating a new textview it will by default go to the next one down which is what I want.
Also, say I have 30 results... How do I get those to scroll but leave the 2 textview header in place? Would I create a ScrollView and put the new TextViews in that?
So after fiddling around with theming and getting comfortable decompiling, recompiling and pushing system apk's to my phone I figured I would try to mod one of my games. The game is called chess time and is a free online pvp chess game. I am trying to find the movement permissions to the specific pieces. I have had no luck. I decompiled the apk and checked all the xml's and cannot find anything that seems relevant. Where those would be? If I do not set the property FillAfter to true then the image in my view, that I use RotateAnimation to animate, returns to the initial position after the animation is done. My problem is that when I set fillafter to true when I later set the image on my imageview to another image than the one I animated some kind of transformation is applied to that image also.
