Is there a way (or app) to stop changing the in-call volume. Reason I am asking, is that I tend to bump the volume rocker during calls and it keeps going up/down. Is there a way to set it and then if you want to change it you have to confirm the change or something?

I am coming from a blackberry..and this is my first Android phone..the Incredible..
I made a mp3 as my text message tone...its only 6 or 7 seconds long..but, the problem I am encountering is that when my phone is idle and my text message tone goes off upon receipt of a new text...I am finding myself using the unlock button to awaken the phone..swiping my finger on the screen to unlock the phone, and then going to the message icon to FINALLY disable the text message tone from continuing.
Is there a way for the phone to recognize that I am touching it, using the lock button on top of the phone or the volume keys..or SOMETHING other than having to actually wake, unlock, and enter the message area?
First of all, I love my incredible, but I'm afraid my in-call volume is very low. I've turned the rocker all the way up, and it's still very low. Speaker works great on the other hand. Anyone else having these issues, or maybe mine's just low?

I'll manually bump it down two or three notches and it sounds fine, but then it goes right back to maximum volume for the next call. I've been through the menus, and I can't seem to find anywhere to adjust the default in-call volume. Does anyone know how to make that change?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed times when my in-call volume is stuck on high even when turned all the way down to the lowest setting. I traced this to having previously connected to a bluetooth device for phone use (this happens with two different bluetooth accessories). After disconnecting from bluetooth (whether or not the bluetooth antenna is also turned off), call volume is extremely loud and doesn't respond to the volume-down key. I have to reset the phone to get it back to normal. Anyone else notice this? Any fix for this? I presume this is a bug in the Android 2.1 OS. BTW--this also happens with a friend's Eris running a 2.1 leak v3.

I want this feature of course while I am NOT on a call, but while on a call people on the other end of the call have described it as a duck being murdered. I did quite a bit of searching the web for a solution to my problem with the HTC Incredible. Surely I cannot be the only one with the problem? I answer a call, I'm holding it talking, and the screen turns on then turns off, turns on, then turns off, speaker phone on, I have to click it off, mute on, I have to press it off. etc, I know its just the heat from my cheek from talking, but it goes right through the lock button. What is the point of locking the phone if on a call so this stuff wont happen when your touch (my cheek in this case) just goes right through the lock. I have tried in vain to find an app that could fix this perhaps, but most are just for answering the call or dialing a call, or something to that effect. Any info on how to keep the phone locked when I press the lock button would be appreciated. I love the phone but I am using another phone to make calls because I cant use the Incredible to talk. I don't feel I should have to keep turning off the mute or speaker phone or locking the phone to turn the screen off every two or three seconds.

Whenever I receive an incoming call on my incredible, the action of pulling it out of my pocket answers the call 99% of the time. I cannot screen any calls as a result and on one occasion, while driving, I had a hard time getting the phone out of my pocket and, unbeknown to me, the caller could hear me grumbling about it, so the call was picked up while still in my pocket even.
I've tried orienting the phone differently in my pocket (upside down, right side up, screen out, screen in), but the result is always the same. I've searched and searched the forum and the internet, but cannot find a way of locking my phone so that a button needs to be pressed for call answers instead of the screen swipe. Am I the only one having this issue? Is there a workaround that I don't know about?
I've searched around and so far I've only found apps that reject (forward to voicemail) calls from a particular list. What I am looking for is a way to reject a call from he lockscreen or incoming call screen.
Is there a setting I am missing or is this something that needs to be done with an apparently?
Usually the phone is awake, and when you lower it the phone lights up for numeric input (love that feature).
But after a minute or so it locks. You have to push power button before you can enter numbers- annoying. Is there a "keep alive" option I'm not seeing?
On a similar note, is there a way to make the phone lock automatically (like an app)? It's also annoying to have to manually lock it: I'd rather keep waking it up (if it was indeed idle and not running a program) than forget to lock it and dial/message everyone in my contact list from my pocket.
scoured "call volume" threads and not sure if this is experienced by anyone else. Intermittently when I answer a call I can barely hear the other person. Call volume is at the highest setting. I try making it lower then higher and nothing changes. If I end the call and call the same person back I will get normal call volume behavior. This happens every 5-10 phone calls.

I don't know if it's from some app I installed or what. But I noticed recently that suddenly the volume rocker only controls the Media Volume or the In-call volume (if you're in a call), not the Ringer Volume. I don't have anything playing, so not sure why it's like that. I want it to default to ringer and I'll worry about Media when I'm actually in a program that uses it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to adjust the volume (ringer/media/navigation) I press the button and sometimes it's okay but mostly nothing will happen for up to 5 seconds and then all of the sudden it'll catch up and shoot right to the end. If I press it repeatedly instead of holding on, it normally takes a few presses before the first adjustment then it'll work pretty much okay but it might do a few moves then stop again randomly. The most annoying time is when I'm on the phone and I can't hear what's being said! I do not want to install a volume control app.

I keep my phone on vibrate always. well, I try to, but sometimes I hit the volume button on accident and it would be nice to not have to adjust it. Not only do I not want the phone to ring, but I don't want it to not vibrate (all the way down). Also, I still don't always understand when I can adjust other volumes, like Media Volume. I noticed that there's light leakage around the volume buttons, where the top and bottom components connect. As I trace around the edges, everywhere seems to fine except at that one connection point. Now I'm really concerned that my phone has a physical defect and may need to be exchanged. Has anyone else noticed this? Should I be concerned and get an exchange? I'm really bummed that my phone may have a problem.

I bought my captivate 3 weeks ago from Amazon. It works well overall and I do enjoy a lot. Besides the GPS issue, low in-call volume bothers me all the time. Calls can only be heard clearly in a very quiet place, otherwise I need to keep saying sorry to people on the other end of line. I did search around the forum, no useful information on this subject can be found. So I am curious whether this issue only happens randomly on some handsets or it is a already solved issue which no one even bothers now?

I have no problems with these, they're perfectly acceptable to me. However, the in call volume on this phone is ridiculously low, if there is any noise in the room at all I can't hear a thing and this is with the volume maxed. Using headphones or the speakerphone it is fine. Is there a fix to increase the in call volume beyond the current maximum?

Just wanted to know if I can freeze the app "HTC Lock Screen 1.00" If I should expect some force closes or the phone will explode. and if it by any chance brings back the stock lock screen. If not if it will run right away after defrosting.
I do know about widgetlocker, tried it didnt like and I dont wanna have a bigger app or service running for just locking.
