This may sound trivial, but when I watch a video at night, the four button lights at the bottom of the phone (home, menu,back and search) are so bright it distracts from the screen. Am I missing a simple solution to fix this? I've tried various brightness apps but none of them control these lights.

all four of the buttons on the phone turned on out of no where this morning. i have it on my desk at work and it caught my eye as soon as they turned on. phone was sleeping. turned it on, no new messages, emails, calls, etc. any idea why they would randomly illuminate?

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy 3 year old loves playing the puzzle game. Great way to entertain her for 20 minutes. But I really gotta watch her. She was just playing and hit the home button was still trying to move a shape but brought up the recent calls list and dialed my boss! She doesn't mean to do it, but her hands are small. So, is there a way to lock those buttons while she's using the game? It would be nice Or would it be more of an individual app feature that I'd need to contact the developers for the feature request?

Most screen shots of Touchdown have the Home Screen Buttons on the left side. My Samsung Vibrant has them across the bottom and I can't figure out how to get them on the left.The Nitro Desk configuration manual shows them on the left, but the installation manual shows them on the bottom.It does not say in any of the manuals how to move them.
Just got my 1st problem with my nexus 1, had since january. my home and google search keys has stopped working. also the power button no longer locks the phone. problem started when the wi-fi wouldnt turn on, so i rebooted phone and then lost all these buttons when started up again. not done a factory reset yet as i am still at work and want to make sure ive got everything backed up 1st. also what is the best application for backing up sms?

So I hear my phone ring but can't answer it as I'm in home screen or it just cancels my call. I thought it was something to do with the signal, but I tested it in present of Rogers sale rep and he was surprised that HOME and RETURN buttons can be activated in ringing mode?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi saw a video back when i was debating between evo and epic, and it showed me how to change those bottom 4 buttons (PHONE CONTACTS MESSAGING APPLICATIONS). i figure phone and contacts kinda go hand in hand so its a waste, and i use HANDCENT. now that i have the phone i cant figure out how to do it to save my life. anyone have any ideas?
The same feature also allowed you to swap around the applications view, and delete unused home pages. i dont need 7 pages id be fine with 4 or 5 (multicon FTW)
I just visited the sprint store today and was testing an epic 4g and found that the bottom buttons were very unresponsive and I had to press them multiple times (sometimes up to 6 times) to get them to work. The guy working at sprint told me all the epic phones are that unresponsive. Is this true?

Seems like onKeyDown is filtering out all keys but "Back" and "Menu". Well, it's not true! Home button will still bring you Home screen and End Call button will run native Locker application!

I have a strange problem after using cm10 for a few weeks. suddenly my home and volume buttons aren't working most of the time. When I want to decrearse/increase volume and press the volume button (no matter if i press it fast again and again or if i wait a few second between pressing) it only goes one step louder every 5 seconds. Also when I want to lower volume. i also cant use cwm recovery cause my home button only works maybe once per hour. Now I have twrp touch recovery.
What i tried:
- wiped everything several times
- flashed gb and ics stock firmwares
- flashed different kernels
It's like a springy echoey feeling as opposed to the dpad, menu and answer buttons that feel quite firm by comparison? Is it just my phone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend just got an x10 to match mine and for some reason every once and a while, the 3 buttons at the bottom completely stop working. At first I thought the phone froze but I could still use the on-screen keyboard and press whatever I wanted on screen but the 3 buttons wouldn't work oO This has NEVER happened with my phone.
After searching around a bit, I only found one solution which was "if you have a gel phone cover, take it off and see if it works." We tried that and it seems (so far, for an hour or so) that it's working fine. That doesn't make much sense to me as we have the same phone and the same cover - just a different colour. Anyone had this problem before? Should we be bringing the phone back or is there something I'm overlooking?
How can I make an app or maybe service that looks like (Nexus One touch buttons) for the navigation keys (Home, menu,Back, Search)
The buttons should always be visibly and always stay on top and send the command to the app thats running.
Someone have ideas and sample codes how to do that?
*I see an app with name (Smart Taskmanager) wich always detect when you touch the right side of the screen and then detect when you slide the finger to left.
So I think its possible, with this function I think its possible to implementate the code to simulate the (Home, Meny, Back, Search) buttons.
*I also see and test an app wich show a "cracked display" always ontop so that tecnic maybe shold be useful to always show the buttons/bitmanp on top.
Thoose function, to show the button and catch the "touch event" and send the event to the active program, thats what i dont can figure out how to do.

Again, this is really annoying. I can't start up a podcast, then text/email someone. The music player exits.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is difficult for me to diagnose because the Log doesn't provide the offending code line that indicates what caused it.Running the app in the Emulator seems to work OK until I press Home or Back from the Main Activity. Using Back between the activities in the program seems to work OK, it only fails at the Main. I don't have the app finished yet so I haven't loaded it to a device yet.The Log says there was a null pointer exception so I would like to find why.The log points to the android routines (and I don't appear to have the source for those routines in the emulator-most but not all and these are refering to those I can't access). The log gives up at one point and says "11 more".It would be nice to see the remaining 11 in the hopes that one of them points to the line in my code that caused the offense.I'm looking for ideas on ways to find the error and hopefully cure it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell have had my hero for around 3 days now. I have recently noticed a creaking sound coming from the home and back buttons. It rarely makes a sound from the menu or search button. But the home and back make this sound if I push the button or if I lightly press down (halfway pushing the buttons).
Is this normal? Do you get this on your hero?
Earlier I've posted about losing my keychar and keylayout folders but however downloading some files and folders from the internet and from other (non-samsung phones) my keys started working...However my home key, back key, the power keys doesn't work!
I probably think that some files are missing from my system folder (keychar and keylayout folder). I do not want to re-install my android once again. (I do not have backups either)

View 4 Replies View RelatedTwo things I'd like to be able to do with my incredible.First is reduce the number of homescreens. Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.
