HTC Incredible :: Google Voice / Theme While Calling
Nov 19, 2010I like how the Google Voice looks when making calls. Is there any way to make it look like this all of the time, not just using Google Voice?

Jul 19, 2010I have google voice set up to make all calls. But whenever I call out, I call out using the phone's number, and not my google voice number. I've tried looking through all the settings on both the app and the desktop version and have not found anything that works. I still get my SMS through the app, so the service is working. I just can't get it to call out using my google voice number, and this was automatic on my incredible

If you, like me, have your outbound Google Voice access number set as one of your "Family and Friends", you'll find that all outbound calls are currently free (since Verizon sees them as going through the outbound number, regardless of who you actually call). However, this new method assigns a personal number to EACH contact.
So if your girlfriend or brother already had Verizon, and you didn't use Google Voice, it would be free calling.
But if you called them with the old Google Voice application, they would both appear on your bill as calls to your Google Voice access number. (So if you had that one number on your Friends and Family line, you could call both of them -- and anyone else -- without using any minutes.)
HOWEVER, if you upgraded, your brother essentially has 1 non-Verizon number, and your girlfriend has another non-Verizon number, so even though they're both Verizon users, you're going to get screwed over with minute usage.
Keep an eye out for these things! Google either needs to work with Verizon (and AT&T, etc.) to fix this gap, or they need to keep it an option to use a single outbound access number. I know I won't be upgrading my Google Voice app until they fix this.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Google Voice & Calling Minutes With Sprint?
Oct 15, 2009Is anyone else interested in how Google voice will affect calling minutes? If you currently have your GV number set to call your Sprint cell and your incoming call is from another cell phone will you be charged for the minutes? If you setup your phone so GV is used to call all numbers that you dial will you be charged for calling other cellular number because GV masks the number? I have been through every level of support that Sprint offers and no one can answer me. Sadly tier 3 technical support told me "Google Voice is useless on a cell phone and you would not want to use this anyway". I had nothing more to say after that!

May 12, 2010I was wondering if anyone has been using Google Talk exclusively for SMS and ditched their texting w Verizon all together. I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.

May 5, 2010Searched for this but didn't find anything. I have my GV voicemail set up to go directly to my voicemail box (no pin) when dialing voicemail from my phone. I have everything configured correctly on the GV site and on my phone (dialed the *71GVNumber). When I call my voicemail it just rings and I have to press * to get to the PIN prompt. Is there something different about the Incredible that this doesn't work correctly? I had this correctly setup on my Storm2.

May 12, 2010is there anyway to change the nav voice? I did some searching and people with the regular droid said that you go to settings -> text to Ipeech and can change it there (i changed it to british eng) but I did that and the nav voice is still regular english? May 5, 2010First android phone and am trying to use google voice for as much as I can, working decent so far, but several issues have come up, if anyone can address them.
1) Anytime Google voice is open, SMS notifications occurr basically instantaneously. Sometimes when it is not the open app, notifications for messages do not appear for up to 30 minutes (you can tell from the timestamps). I do not see any options about syncing frequency in the google voice app. Is there any way to rectify this?
2) SMS notification sounds. I can't find any way to make custom tones for each contact. The typical solution I've read is to use a custom SMS app, but can't do this with voice. Any workarounds?
3) Are there any 3rd party apps that handle any aspects of google voice SMS or customization? Some searches found nothing.Overall I'm pretty happy with using voice as my SMS, just want to make it as good as I possibly can.

Does Sense change anything, or can one still achieve the same full integration with Sense involved? I would like to exclusively use my gVoice number when my phone comes in, but I don't know if it will be smooth, seamless, and fully integrated, or if it will be the way it is on my Blackberry Tour right now.

Apr 22, 2010Hopefully next Thurday I will have 2 Incredibles. I have a google voice account and phone number. Currently mmy wife and I's cellphones both are connected to google voice, however when we call out they still see our number which is fine.
I know when I get the incredible I can set it up to you google voice to dial out and they will see the google voice number. The question is, does this work for 2 phones without screwing up other google services. i.e. I would like if both my wife and I could make outgoing calls through MY google voice number and the other side see the google number, but I want her phone setup with her gmail account etc and mine setup with my gmail account, etc.
Does anyone have this setup currently, or anyone at least know if this is a not possible thing?
HTC Incredible :: No SMS Option On Google Voice
May 10, 2010I got an invite to Google voice and I don't have any SMS options listed on the home page.Under setting where you should be able to set voice mail/ sms mine just says voice mail widgets.Am I missing something? There isn't an SMS option above the in box button either.Although I don't expect it to be there until I can change the settings.This is the main reason I wanted Google voice.

I set up my google voice today but i really have no idea to use it. I didn't elect to do the google number thing. I really don't want to get my house calls on my cell phone. Maybe I'm missing something about it?
My real question is with the voicemail part. So I now have this crazy area code number to call to access my voicemail. I'm guessing that cost some money. How do people work around that?
Also, i see people discussing about calling with GV. That probably comes with a droid app?
HTC Desire :: Voice Calling Seems To Not Be Dialing
Aug 4, 2010I've just received android 2.2 on the desire and like many wanted to use the new voice dialing!!! The only widget I can find is "voice search" but this seems to not be dialing specific and may choose to search the web for you etc. My question: Is there a dialing specific voice command widget, if not how do I do it properly?
I have a parrot bluetooth kit which usually prompts a phone to ask for a voice command. The desire although linked, doesn't seem to respond.
HTC Incredible :: Google Voice As Voicemail Needs Password
May 5, 2010So I set up Google Voice to be my voicemail provider on my phone.
Twice.
The first time I did it directly on the site and followed the instructions.....THEN I went to the phone and actually changed it in the Voicemail provider settings (there is a spot for it)
When called it still made me put in my voicemail #.
So I started the process over again.
This time I set up my verizon voice mail with the phone number and the ",****" for the pause and the password. Then i told it to use google voicemail.
Then I went into google voicemail and set up the phone again.
And....
Voila....it automatically puts in my password for me now. Although on the phone it doesn't show that its there at all.
There doesn't seem to be a reason to switch the setting on the phone as the voicemail indicator in "messages" doesn't change.....and also It doesn't seem to be able to set up the true visual voicemail through it.
You have to use the Google Voice app to get them and just search through your mails. (If anyone has a way around that one I'd be grateful - for both the message indicator and the visual voicemail)
HTC Incredible :: Google Voice Voicemail Notifications
May 22, 2010I am currently using Google Voice for my Visual Voicemail. When someone leaves a voicemail, I get about 5 notification sounds in a row! It's so annoying. I bascially get a couple of email notifications, a message notification, etc. Is there a way where it only makes one notification sound and just shows that you have a new voicemail? I don't need a bunch of things going off at once.

They say they don't get my message and instead get some form of automated message that cuts out about halfway through and then ends the call.

I just read that I need to add my gogle voice routing number instead (which i got as 916-538-xxxx) so I went to add that but my Dad who also has google voice has the exact same routing number. I am leaving the country and the cost of calls overseas is $2/minute. I need to avoid charges for calls where people leave me voicemail messages, so I need to disable GV for the time I'm overseas. I can't figure out how to temporarily disable GV.
