HTC Incredible :: How To Get Rid Of Google Voice
May 10, 2010
I want to get rid of Google Voice. I uninstalled Google Voice and chose MY CARRIER to be my Voicemail but it keeps on going back to Google Voice when I call Voicemail. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

I was wondering if anyone has been using Google Talk exclusively for SMS and ditched their texting w Verizon all together. I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.

Searched for this but didn't find anything. I have my GV voicemail set up to go directly to my voicemail box (no pin) when dialing voicemail from my phone. I have everything configured correctly on the GV site and on my phone (dialed the *71GVNumber). When I call my voicemail it just rings and I have to press * to get to the PIN prompt. Is there something different about the Incredible that this doesn't work correctly? I had this correctly setup on my Storm2.

is there anyway to change the nav voice? I did some searching and people with the regular droid said that you go to settings -> text to Ipeech and can change it there (i changed it to british eng) but I did that and the nav voice is still regular english? Can anyone else try this and confirm if it works or not?

First android phone and am trying to use google voice for as much as I can, working decent so far, but several issues have come up, if anyone can address them.
1) Anytime Google voice is open, SMS notifications occurr basically instantaneously. Sometimes when it is not the open app, notifications for messages do not appear for up to 30 minutes (you can tell from the timestamps). I do not see any options about syncing frequency in the google voice app. Is there any way to rectify this?
2) SMS notification sounds. I can't find any way to make custom tones for each contact. The typical solution I've read is to use a custom SMS app, but can't do this with voice. Any workarounds?
3) Are there any 3rd party apps that handle any aspects of google voice SMS or customization? Some searches found nothing.Overall I'm pretty happy with using voice as my SMS, just want to make it as good as I possibly can.

l know not many have received the phone, but if you know the answer to this (by experience or just knowledge) feel free to comment!I like how gVoice can be fully integrated into 2.1 (on the N1). Does Sense change anything, or can one still achieve the same full integration with Sense involved? I would like to exclusively use my gVoice number when my phone comes in, but I don't know if it will be smooth, seamless, and fully integrated, or if it will be the way it is on my Blackberry Tour right now.

Hopefully next Thurday I will have 2 Incredibles. I have a google voice account and phone number. Currently mmy wife and I's cellphones both are connected to google voice, however when we call out they still see our number which is fine.
I know when I get the incredible I can set it up to you google voice to dial out and they will see the google voice number. The question is, does this work for 2 phones without screwing up other google services. i.e. I would like if both my wife and I could make outgoing calls through MY google voice number and the other side see the google number, but I want her phone setup with her gmail account etc and mine setup with my gmail account, etc.
Does anyone have this setup currently, or anyone at least know if this is a not possible thing?

I got an invite to Google voice and I don't have any SMS options listed on the home page.Under setting where you should be able to set voice mail/ sms mine just says voice mail widgets.Am I missing something? There isn't an SMS option above the in box button either.Although I don't expect it to be there until I can change the settings. This is the main reason I wanted Google voice.

I'm currently waiting for my dinc, I have a blackberry right now.
I set up my google voice today but i really have no idea to use it. I didn't elect to do the google number thing. I really don't want to get my house calls on my cell phone. Maybe I'm missing something about it?
My real question is with the voicemail part. So I now have this crazy area code number to call to access my voicemail. I'm guessing that cost some money. How do people work around that?
Also, i see people discussing about calling with GV. That probably comes with a droid app?

So I set up Google Voice to be my voicemail provider on my phone.
Twice.
The first time I did it directly on the site and followed the instructions.....THEN I went to the phone and actually changed it in the Voicemail provider settings (there is a spot for it)
When called it still made me put in my voicemail #.
So I started the process over again.
This time I set up my verizon voice mail with the phone number and the ",****" for the pause and the password. Then i told it to use google voicemail.
Then I went into google voicemail and set up the phone again.
And....
Voila....it automatically puts in my password for me now. Although on the phone it doesn't show that its there at all.
There doesn't seem to be a reason to switch the setting on the phone as the voicemail indicator in "messages" doesn't change.....and also It doesn't seem to be able to set up the true visual voicemail through it.
You have to use the Google Voice app to get them and just search through your mails. (If anyone has a way around that one I'd be grateful - for both the message indicator and the visual voicemail)

I am currently using Google Voice for my Visual Voicemail. When someone leaves a voicemail, I get about 5 notification sounds in a row! It's so annoying. I bascially get a couple of email notifications, a message notification, etc. Is there a way where it only makes one notification sound and just shows that you have a new voicemail? I don't need a bunch of things going off at once.

So I have had Google Voice for the past month or so. I have had several people call me and I let it go to Voicemail and then they later tell me that the voicemail wouldn't work for them. They say they don't get my message and instead get some form of automated message that cuts out about halfway through and then ends the call.

I have google voice and I first added my google voice number onto my friends and family thinking it would give me the free minutes. I just read that I need to add my gogle voice routing number instead (which i got as 916-538-xxxx) so I went to add that but my Dad who also has google voice has the exact same routing number. So do I just add the one number as friends and family and we both get free minutes?

I just started using Google Voice last week and am in the process of dumping my BB Curve on my business line and using my GV number for work and having just one phone with multiple mail boxes (pretty exciting for me ) but in the demo videos I've seen they have the option to merge calls and also and this is a big one screen calls. I only get the stock screen on my DI when it comes in. How to use these features?

I have Google Voice, which I recently discovered counts against my minutes when it sends me a transcript/recording of my voicemails (this is because VZ forwards calls to GV and charges for the time). I am leaving the country and the cost of calls overseas is $2/minute. I need to avoid charges for calls where people leave me voicemail messages, so I need to disable GV for the time I'm overseas. I can't figure out how to temporarily disable GV.

So I noticed Vlingo is in the market now. It looks like they added a lot of features from the beta. Have anyone tested it out? Also, does it work with google voice for sms? On a side note, does any one have a list of all commands as well as examples for the built it Voice to Text feature?

Has anyone else noticed that calls placed using Google Voice don't sound as good as a regular cell call? I hung up from a friend and called right back using Google Voice, and it was more difficult to understand. I was using my bluetooth speakerphone, and their voice kept fading in and out. So I hung up again and called back via the handset, and experienced the same problem. I did this last week and also had this problem, but thought it may just be a temporary glitch. Apparently I also sounded fuzzy to them. Shouldn't be too much different from a normal call should it? It's just basically calling a Google number, and then Google is calling to the actual number you want to call.

I have been trying to activate either Voice or YouMail to no success. For both I am instructed to dial a *7 number and for both I get a Verizon nessage saying this feature update could not be completed. Calling Verizon of course is no help as they say they dont support third party applicatons. Why wont any of these numbers go through for me? I was using Youmail on my previous Stom with Verizon, but no it wont connect, and I just cant get Google Voice to recieve a message either. After setting up accounts with both I call my phone from a landline and leave a message and can only retrieve it by calling *86 (Verizon voice mail) from my cell phone. So its not forwarding. Any suggestions?

I like to SMS these numbers for my contacts so I can send the same text to multiple people. Usually the texts also appear in my Google Voice App, but since today the people haven't been getting my texts. I know this by them telling me and the texts not appearing in my GV app.

I am an iPhone user seriously considering switching to the Incredible as the Android platform has matured and I am sick of Apple's "Walled Garden". My one big question is actually a Sense UI question. If I enable Google Voice to "take over" phone calls on the phone (this is possible, correct? It could be done on the Motorola Droid). Will the HTC Phone app that is launched from the phone button at the bottom of the home screen use Google Voice to make my calls, or will I have to launch the Google Voice app to get that functionality (logging calls, correct number on caller ID, etc)?

I'm trying to let Verizon take care of my voice mails rather than Google Voice, but I'm not having any luck.I have gone to: Settings --> Voice mail Service --> and selected My Carrier. As well as setting my number under voice mail number but I still need to dial my Google Voice # then enter my passcode to get my voice mails which is what I want to avoid.
