Jun 20, 2010Hoe does leaving this on effect battery life? I don't use apps that require it a lot but I wouldn't mind its functionality when I do use it.

May 20, 2010I am trying to figure out what is draining my battery all of a sudden. I was fine going all day without needing a charge, but now it is dropping fast. I was using the dazzle widget and really like it, but not if it is the cause. Has anyone else been using this and had any battery issues. I just deleted the widget to see.

General :: How Do Running Services Effect Battery Life And Responsiveness
May 8, 2013I have been using HTC Desire S for about 2 yrs now, but since I am not a power user, I just use it as it came. Now considering to root it and was looking more closely at things and I see there are many services running in the background under "Running".
I don't know the inner workings of Android system, so would like to know if more services are running (especially from apps which I don't regularly use) then does it effect battery life and does it make the phone slower ?
For example under Calendar, 4 services are running - AutoSettingService, ImmediateModeService, DashboardService,ConnecttoPcService.
Google Maps has TrafficAppWidgetUpdateService and PrefetcherService ( I rarely use Google maps because I use offline rmaps)
Another thing is I have a prepaid connection without a data plan so I would like to control which apps connect to the net when i switch on 3G - i mean I would prefer if only the app which I want to use the data should use it, while others should not.
And there are some things taking data, which i don't really understand - but since they are related to Android system I am not sure whether to try to restrict them (Android System, HTC Function test, HTC Checkin service, Settings storage, VPN, Status bar, Bluetooth, Google backpp transport, etc, Phone, Dialer Storage, SIM toolkit)
Any general idea about these services - battery and network usage and effect on responsiveness ?

- I'm running the "Battery Left" widget and I have it displaying "estimated percentage left", "system percentage", and "estimated time left until dead".
- I listen to A LOT of Slacker Radio.
My issues:
- I was previously getting about 19+ hours out of a fully charged battery. 2-3 days ago I started having issues with the widget (I think it may have started when I installed an update to the widget) so I recalibrated it to no avail. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Within a few hours it claimed that it was getting accurate readings (when I first installed the widget weeks ago, it took days to get accurate) and now says that I should be getting 9 hours out of a fully charged battery. I know that can't be right so I'll see how the widget adjusts itself over the next few days, but, any thoughts? (I know a lot of you guys use the same widget and know how it works...)
- Also, In the first two hours of my phone being unplugged this morning, it went from 100% to 70%. I did run Slacker for about an hour and a half of that time, but could it really drain the battery that much that quickly? And I noticed that when I close Slacker, if I go into phone settings, applications, running services - there's still a Slacker update thing running in there. Could that be draining the battery too, even if it's only checking for updates?
- I really don't run a lot of stuff on this phone. I keep wifi and gps turned off. I use bluetooth only a few hours each night. Minimal web browsing. Although, my POP email gets checked every 5 mins (but I just changed it to every 10) and I do use gchat and text a decent amount, but I'd say overall, it's "light" use (except for Slacker which could be a huge drain, right?)
HTC Incredible :: 3G On / Off - Toggle Widget?
Aug 23, 2010I currently have the SkyRaider 2.5.2 Vanilla ROM installed. I am wondering if there is a way I can get the 3G widget from htc sense on here somehow. I know this ROM still has a few sense applications and visualization, so maybe it is possible? I have been looking in the market with no luck None of the ones I have installed has worked so far.

Aug 6, 2010Just recently I've been noticing my Wi-Fi toggle widget acting up. It seems like it doesn't want to turn on my wi-fi for some reason. I've tried both stock wi-fi widgets and when I press them I see the green switch flip, but no wi-fi goes on. Only when I go into Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Wi-Fi Settings do I see "out of range" suddenly disappear and then I'm connected. My wi-fi won't turn on unless I actually watch it do so. Has this happened to anyone else?

Jul 15, 2010Does anyone else's battery go as such - full for a bit, then nothing but the nipple gone for half the day, then suddenly what looks like half left out of no where? No matter how much I use my phone. Like I guess I am looking for an "hour-glass" effect here, it should slowly drain until it's empty. I have never seen my battery icon look 3/4 of the way full, it just skips right over that look on my phone.

Jun 25, 2010I removed the People widget. From the main screen, scroll right. Hold down the People widget and remove it. I was getting 10 hours daily off a full charge. Today I got up to 14. Normally I lose 10% per hour. In the morning, I was losing 5%. I was hoping to double my 10 hours and get to 20 but I did make it to 14.
I was also losing 15-20% in the first hour battery drain. After removing the people widget, I only lost 3%! Previously, I tried everything. Turned off GPS, formatted SD card, hard reset, changed from GSM to CDMA, charging while the phone was off/on repeatedly. I have hardware version 003.

Oct 26, 2010hey guys i just bought and installed WidgetLocker and must say that it rocks. But there is one thing i can't get to work. I'm trying to display my battery life on the lockscreen but the widget i have (BatteryLife by CurveFish) does not work. It just shows a depleted battery icon and says "loading" while it never does load. It works fine on my regular home screen but I'd like to have one that is compatible with WL too. Also... i have limited space on my current lockscreen, so my ideal battery widget would only take up 1x1 space. Is there such a thing?

It's great for a day of snowboarding when you only need the essentials but need the battery to last! The battery was only at 75% by the end of the day for me. HTC Incredible :: Bad Battery Or Poor Battery Life
Jun 23, 2010My battery life was bad, but it was OK, but in the past few days my battery life is 10% per 30minutes(Just over 5 hours on a charge).I used to get 8-10 hours on a charge.I noticed last week that while it was charging the status of the battery was "Overheat".I think I somehow cooked the battery?I use TaskKiller and kill 95% of apps automatically, I have bluetooth,wireless,GPS disabled and the screen dimmed.I have not changed or installed any new apps.I have not changed the way I use the phone at all.My battery was dead, 0%, and it charged to 95% in about 45 minutes.Is this even possible?In fact in the past two days I have not gotten the charge above 95% at all.

Aug 27, 2010One of the things I liked about Sense (I'm rooted now and running the Second Wave ROM) was the HTC weather animations when the screen was unlocked. After installing Widget Locker, I noticed an option to turn them on and now I have them back! I also installed the Weather & Toggle Widget and installed the weather skin that looks just like the Sense weather with the flip clock.The annoying part is that when it's sunny, or partly sunny, the "sun animation" from Sense doesn't perfectly align with the Weather & Toggle Widget weather icon. I know, I know, it's a minor problem and goes away when the animation is done, but the lack of symmetry sometimes annoys the hell out of me.

May 24, 2010Just tested my battery (stock) vs my new battery (1750). I got about 4.5 hours running my stock battery down to 25% or so and I'm now at about 6.5 hours running the 1750 down to 27%. When people talk about measuring battery life are they talking about 100%-0% or are they just talking about just 100%-20% or so. This is really the only usable battery range because the radio turns off somewhere under the 20% point. I'm also thinking that my Seidio battery isn't working properly. It was kind of bent out of shape when I got it and felt pretty filmsy. I decided to give it a try but now I'm kind of thinking about returning it in the hopes of getting better life out of a new one.So two questions here what range are you all measuring your battery life through? and any chance that Il' get more life out of a new battery?
