Feb 5, 2010
Does haptic feedback (vibrate) and sound on the keyboard. Really effect the battery life? I have the feedback off because of typing lag, but like having the sound on.

Is there any way to turn haptic feedback ON when using the keyboard? I haven't found a way with 4.6 and I really liked that feature.

I was in Verizon the other day and i realized that the Motorola Droid doesn't have haptic feedback on its home, menu, back, and search keys. I know that you can turn off haptic feedback for the screen, but on the eris, i have yet to find a way to turn off the haptic feedback for those specific keys at the bottom. So i was wondering is it possible? is there an option to do it in any downloadable apps?

Just wondering if anyone else has this with their phone: When I have haptic feedback activated and i am texting(not using swipe) with each vibration I can hear a very very feint tinny ring (This is the best way i can describe it) And the major emphasis being on FEINT. Ive never owned a samsung before and so im wondering if thats just something that comes along with the vibration.

I recently noticed an issue with my Droid Incredible that no one has been able to fix. Whenever I press the "t" on my virtual keyboard, I am constantly getting the "r" or "y". Rarely am I getting the "t". It seems like sometimes I press the "t" and I don't get any haptic feedback. If I continuously press any other letter, I get that letter. But with the "t", it is mostly "r" and "y".
I went to the Verizon store and they noticed the problem, but said only that I should do a factory reset which I did after organizing apps I have downloaded, with no resolution. And the first thing out of their mouth was if you get a replacement, it won't be a new one. Being with Verizon for over 8 years, I understand that since I've had bad Blackberries in the past, but I have also found that the so called refurbished ones have worked flawlessly. I went ahead and had them send one out to me.

My phone no longer vibrates in vibration mode or for any other setting for which I have vibration turned on. My haptic feedback disappeared at the same time.
Haptic feedback is checked yet there is none. I have rebooted and pulled the battery to no avail. My phone is useless in vibration mode since it no longer vibrates.
Anyone have a clue why this would have happened? One minute it was working the next it wasn't.

Don't know if it's just me, but I do not seem to be able to turn off the touch/haptic feedback for the keyboard since flashing this system. Using the old 'turn it off' option has no effect. Has anyone else had this happen? I was just thinking it might speed the keyboard up a little if I could turn it off (and may help save a tiny bit of battery too).

I'm trying to optimize my battery life and was wondering whether turning of the haptic feedback would have significant impact or not. Anybody try this and notice substantial decrease in battery consumption? I've turned screen brightness all the way down and have wifi, bluetooth, and gps off.

My phone just does not vibrate anymore. I've checked all my settings and they all say that it's on vibrate, but when I get a notification or a call it doesn't do anything (except the sound).

I've put together an update that will remove the haptic feedback on the Eris when you press the dialer keys (it does still make the sounds though). It works great for me but I was wondering if someone else could test and let me know how it works for them. All the credit for the method goes to JsChiSurf at xda-developers who figured out how to do this for the Hero. I just decompiled the HtcDialer apk from the latest Eris 2.1 leak (Leak 4?) and applied JsChiSurf's method to it (adding a return-void to the vibration function). Just load the zip from your recovery image. This does not delete any of your data. However, please, please do a nandroid backup before you use this. This is my first attempt at creating this sort of thing. Comments and criticism welcome.

I use Haptic Feedback for texting because I don't like that loud clicky noise, it's annoying. So my question is - considering that I text alot, is it possible for haptic feedback to lose it's "feedback" as to where it's not as "rumbly" anymore?

just curious, who uses haptic feedback and who doesnt? i wouldn't go so far as to say that i love it but it definitely feels weird to not use. i've been using it since i got my phone and i tried turning it off yesterday (to see if there's any real impact to battery life with/without haptic feedback) but i couldn't deal so now it's back on. thoughts?

Anyone elses Haptic feedback on the 4 touch-buttons make a "crack" sound sometimes? I noticed that I hear it more when I hold the phone in landscape with the screen slid up. It still vibrates, but it also delivers a very interesting crackling sound and the vibrate usually feels weaker than normal when this happens. I think I will turn it off because it always feels like i'm breaking it by pressing them too much lmao.

Has anyone here noticed that the haptic feedback on their droid is inconsistent? Not that different keys/inputs have different feedback levels (which is obviously intentional), but that occasionally and seemingly for no reason a key like "return," "home," or even an on-screen numeric key will have an unusually powerful vibrate?

For anyone wanting to disable the haptic feedback on the four touch sensitive keys, install an app from the App Market called "Spare Parts". Scroll down and select disable haptic feeback and it will disable the haptic feedback on the four touch sensitive keys.

I have been using HTC Desire S for about 2 yrs now, but since I am not a power user, I just use it as it came. Now considering to root it and was looking more closely at things and I see there are many services running in the background under "Running".
I don't know the inner workings of Android system, so would like to know if more services are running (especially from apps which I don't regularly use) then does it effect battery life and does it make the phone slower ?
For example under Calendar, 4 services are running - AutoSettingService, ImmediateModeService, DashboardService,ConnecttoPcService.
Google Maps has TrafficAppWidgetUpdateService and PrefetcherService ( I rarely use Google maps because I use offline rmaps)
Another thing is I have a prepaid connection without a data plan so I would like to control which apps connect to the net when i switch on 3G - i mean I would prefer if only the app which I want to use the data should use it, while others should not.
And there are some things taking data, which i don't really understand - but since they are related to Android system I am not sure whether to try to restrict them (Android System, HTC Function test, HTC Checkin service, Settings storage, VPN, Status bar, Bluetooth, Google backpp transport, etc, Phone, Dialer Storage, SIM toolkit)
Any general idea about these services - battery and network usage and effect on responsiveness ?

I was on the 2.3.9 and finally updated to the 2.3.15 last night. So far the only issue I have is that I lost Haptic Feedback. I haven't seen any other posts discussing this as an issue. Anyone know why this happened? Did the update for TBH include a new build.prop that disabled this feature? Speaking of build.props I also still have 2.3.9 showing as my system version? Is there any way to know for sure you're on .15?
