HTC Incredible :: Do Themes Work With Leaked 2.2?
Jul 29, 2010Probably silly question but was wondering if we could apply any of the themes to the 2.2. leaked.

View 1 RepliesAll I really want is a black notification bar. I like the stock icons, I prefer the green color scheme to the blue that a lot of roms change it to. But really anything would be better than the stock white. Any themes out there that work with the new BB? The couple I've tried cause the phone to fail to boot (stuck at Motorola screen)
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen you download a theme it is XX.XMB. Does that amount get added on to the original ROM, or does it replace the information in the original ROM?The reason I ask is because I have always been curious as to if a theme in theory would slow down a ROM? I mean I know that even if it did it would be so miniscule that nobody would surely notice, but I'm curious just the same.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Droid, Android's just released 2.1, and I downloaded dxtop, which in itself seems to work fine.
However, when I install dxtop themes, they seem to download and install OK from the Market screens and the pulldown status bar, but when I go to install them they are nowhere to be found.
The documentation I have found, even by dxtop itself, is nebulous about (finding and) installing the themes.
I'm running the leaked 2.2, rooted, deodexed, themed and all that fun stuff. When the official 2.2 comes I plan on sbf'ing back to 2.1 to get that update since I am having a couple small issues with the leak. Questions are, since deodexing worked on the leak it should work the same way on the official right? to re-root, it sounds like people have been having luck using the droid 2 method in adb, so I should be able to run that to get root back? Themes for the leaked 2.2 should also work for the official 2.2 too? Or is this the same "we dont know till it actually comes" issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically, do you need to root your phone, to get apps to work? I've been reading around the net, and I've seen some things where it says that certain apps may require the phone to be rooted or what have you. Being an Android n00b, I have no idea what this means!. Also, is this the case for installing new themes? Does the phone have to be rooted for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason whenever I install the leaked OTA whenever I try to send a picture to my gf she cant download it. She has a droid so not like its a bad phone, I can send a receive to myself and she can receive if I just have stock on my phone. I really want 2.2 but won't if she can't get pics.

View 8 Replies View RelatedCan anyone on a leaked install verify if WMA files are not working in the stock music player? I could have sworn they were working before I did the install, but now they're not working. Weird thing too is that winamp is also not seeing them, but the files are definitely there when I view the folders in Explorer. I don't know if anyone can shed some light on that too. Last I knew, the Inc supported WMA's, correct?
View 2 Replies View RelatedPlease note that this can and will void your warranty and while no ill effects have been suffered, I nor this forum can be held responsible with what you decide to do with your phone. Use at your own risk! Warning! Under no circumstance should you reapply this patch over itself. I have seen two phones die over this. Dead as in, no power, no charge, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Go directly to jail! I also recommend that you Do Not accept any official OTA while running this leak. It could lead to the same end result. Instead, its best you root, downgrade the HBOOT, and reflash with an RUU. First of all, make sure you are not rooted. So this means you will need to use an RUU (ROM Update utility) to revert your phone back to stock. You can get it from here:
http://tinyurl.com/22rotth
Run through the RUU. If you run into trouble with usb connection errors, or other troubles, you can try these suggestions. Having troubles with the RUU giving connection errors? Do this.
Go to start, and in the search/run box, type
%temp%
Delete all that you can. Make sure the RUU is not running in the background. Now run the RUU again. Once it starts to the first screen, it has extracted the files to the temp directory. You can then copy them to a safe place. It will be a long winded numbered folder, with a similar subfolder. Once you have copied it to a safe place, you can then copy adb.exe, fastboot.exe, and adbwinapi.dll from the latest SDK into it, overwriting the older copies. Then start the RUU by executing ARUWizard.exe. This fixed the problem for me.
Otherwise, you can also use the extracted files to create an image that HBOOT can load. Search for rom.zip in those files and rename it to PB31IMG.zip and put it on your sdcard. Turn off your phone and then hold DOWN volume and power to get into the HBOOT screen. Let it scan through the files and when it asks to run update, say yes and let it do its thing. It will reboot at least once during update. Once you are back to stock, you can now provide the leaked update. MD5 hash is 68518f450fd4b15c696441f5f93deff4. Link can be found here:
dinc_ota.zip
or
http://www.4shared.com/file/ON3qK3n0/dinc_ota.html
Copy this zip file to your sdcard, renaming it to update.zip. Now power down your phone. Hold DOWN volume and power to get to HBOOT. It will do its scanning thing. If you still have the RUU on there, say NO to updating and NO to rebooting. Once you get to the menu with fastboot, recovery, etc. choose Recovery. This will boot you to the stock recovery with an image with an! Hold UP volume and hit power. This will take you into the recovery menu. Choose apply update.zip, navigating with volume keys and hit the power button. Let it do its thing. It will then say reboot to finish. Navigate to reboot and hit the power button. Let it finish. It will reboot several times during the update.
That's the easy part of installing it. You can also root it with unrevoked tools (3.1 is the latest). Having Market Issues?

It is recommended you do NOT install any third party kernels until new source has been released.
Going back is NOT as easy and I will list this in another thread located here:
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-incredible/123816-how-revert-back-earlier-version-hboot.html
When the official OTA update hits it will possibly include froyo but there is also a chance (maybe 50/50) that it will lock us out of root. If it doesn't this post is a moot point. Now you can't get a rom with the leaked update because of the change in radio performed to the phone, but you could always get a rom with just stock froyo (w/sense) ripped from it.
Meaning: If the update closes the "hole" to root, you will have to revert to stock, install the leaked ota update, than install the stock froyo rom after someone rips it for us. So just a heads up for those that have the leaked update, just sit tight and see what the future holds before you uninstall something you may need.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to know, in preparation for the 2.2 release to the Incredible, just what steps I will need to take to be able to get the OTA just like normal. I don't use root for much of anything. I am not overclocked, ShootMe is probably the only app I actually use regularly and the leaked 2.2 is way too buggy for me to keep on the phone. I currently have the updated radio via the leaked 2.1 OTA and my phone is rooted. I assume that I can't just apply the 2.2 OTA, but I am wonder how far I will need to revert. I'd like to lose as little data as possible from my phone, am I just SoL?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just realized that for the past 30 minutes or so, I had my phone sitting on my comforter while I was tweaking it after installing the leaked Froyo ROM, and it was working!
Before I installed this ROM, my phone would NEVER work while sitting on my comforter without touching a finger to the side (the whole grounding issue).
It sure seems as if this update contained a fix for the grounding issue (like the EVO had a while back IIRC).
How do you get the different lock screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was heading in to check if my EVRC-B was still enabled after the update and stumbled upon this by accident...

Voila. I haven't seen the windows prompt since.
So I just got done installing the leaked OTA and rooting my phone, but now I've read conflicting reports that when Froyo comes out in a couple weeks, I won't be able to install it without going back to stock 2.1. Even worse, going back to stock means erasing all the data and apps on my phone. I was under the impression that one could use Titanium backup to make sure all apps, data, and settings can be re-imaged to the phone, but then I realized that Titanium only works if you have root, which I won't if I go back to stock. But when the official update comes out, how do I install it without losing all my data? Why can't I just install it on top of the rooted OTA update OS?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI installed the leaked 2.2 update and got it all working. Not being happy enough with how it came out I started playing around with my Titanium Backups and system settings. (I was trying to restore system settings so I wouldn't have to go through everything again.) In any case, I took benchmarks while doing this, because I didn't want to gimp my now much faster dinc.
On a stock 2.1 my Quadrant score was around 530. With the 2.2 leak my Quadrant score was around 1050. After restoring some 2.1 system files my Quadrant score was 1213. Of course, my phone became a bit unstable. Somebody with more free time needs to sit down and play around with this. A few tweaks and the Dinc could really fly on 2.2.
Installed the leaked update minus the bloatware, and was trying to remove more, but there are a couple that don't seem to work such as PDF viewer, and News and Weather Reader.
I'm using these commands:
mv /system/app/PDFViewer.apk /system/app.disabled/
mv /system/app/NewsReader.apk /system/app.disabled/
mv /system/app/com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk /system/app.disabled/
Anyone been able to remove these two apps?
As titled, I installed the leaked OTA tonight for the 720p recorder, boot animation, etc.It did reboot 3 times initially right after the update but I was expecting that.I waited about 30 minutes for good measure and then restored all of my apps and data with Titanium. Ever since then my phone has been rebooting itself for no reason. I have noticed that it does it more when I am launching certain programs. For a while it was just rebooting one right after the other and the home screen never came available, it just had a Loading... notification. Once it finally did load the home screen it looked like the Weatherbug was struggling to load and as soon as I click on it, the phone shuts off.I uninstalled the app and it hasn't been rebooting as much but for a phone that has never ever had one problem I'm kind of inconvenienced by this.

I anyone else noticing issues with System Panel on the leaked Froyo Rom? I assume 2.2 handles memory in a different way, and System Panel doesn't read it correctly. It shows all of my apps running without anything being cached. Also, the CPU clock seems to be running at 700MHz or more constantly instead of coming down to ~300 or so like it showed on 2.1. However the CPU graph on the top left does come down like normal.
