View 4 RepliesI was wondering if there's a way to change default input options for portrait and landscape modes independently? I like using swipe for portrait and full keyboard for landscape and its kinda annoying to keep changing it every time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI switched from my Motorola Droid to the Incredible a few days ago and the one thing I have noticed is that on the Motorola in landscape mode on the touchscreen keyboard was a send button to send the text right from that screen. Is this possible on the incredible in anyway on sense ui? Its driving me nuts to have to lower the keyboard or hit back button to send it. Any idea? I know its a minimal problem, but its annoying to me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow come there is no voice input / microphone button on my android keyboard? I've had a look in the options screen, there's an option where you can enable / disable the voice input button on keyboard, but it's already enabled. I can press and hold the space bar and select Google voice input in the popup menu, but it's too inconvenient. I tried installing another keyboard (Hacker's keyboard), there I have the mic button.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI updated to the rooted FroYo, and I'm not seeing the voice input button on the stock keyboard anymore, it's been replaced by a button that toggles between english and spanish. Is there another way to access it so I can text or email by speaking to my phone? Did everyone else have this happen with the stock ROM, or is this a root issue?
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo the "minimize keyboard" button in the lower left of the landscape qwerty keyboard works maybe every 5th time. I only started noticing this after the 2.1 OTA. However my wife has the 2.1 on her Eris as well and hers works perfectly. If I make sure to push the very top edge of the button, it works fine, but just pressing it normally in the middle rarely works. Perhaps there is something wrong with that corner if the screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought my android incredible today and I'm absolutely addicted to it. However, I ran into a problem today with my phone that makes me wonder if it's something minor that I can fix on my own or if it has to be taken in. You know when you tilt your phone longways the display changes as well so you have a bigger keyboard? Well, mine's not doing it now and I'm wondering what the problem is.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow come you can't go into landscape mode in Sense?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo for some dumb reason I wanted to calibrate my G senser,
no big deal right?
now nothing is going into landscape mode.
I searched on 'landscape' and couldn't find what I needed.
Can the DI go into landscape mode with the buttons on the left? I'm left handed and would much prefer this arrangement. With my BB I was always able to flip it into landscape mode on either side.
Had the phone about 30 hours or so, been happily learning the ins and outs of my first android. Was streaming Pandora for a couple hours while working, then went to type a text and the full size landscape qwerty wouldn't come up only that aweful portrait mode cramped keyboard that makes me feel like I am typing on a blackberry now the browser won't switch to landscape either which is 'incredibly' annoying. Teeter seems to work fine, on level 19 and also "Bubble" an app for Leveling which switches to landscape in either direction.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to use voice input for SMS or email messages I am getting an error message. I press the voice input button and receive the "Speak now" prompt I say what I want to say then it goes to "Processing" followed by the error message "Unable to reach the server". I do not get this error when I use the voice search app for google searches.

View 3 Replies View Relatedthere are those of us, who due to whatever reason (helmet cams, preference for posture, etc) want to record videos in portrait mode.
What happens (on my sgs2) is that the video records just fine in whatever resolution I pick... but it records it 90 degrees rotated to the right.
The solution that is usually offered is that "you can rotate it after!" yes... but then you have to CROP part of the image and lower the resolution. 1920 x 1080 recordings end up having to be cropped so that half of the view is cut out , or even more if you are maintaining a real aspect ratio.
The questions about "why not just hold it sideways", are just as pointless as the statement by steve jobs telling iphone4 users that they were holding their phones wrong.
is this something that can be remedied ? or has google decided that people should only record videos when their phones are in landscape mode?
i understand that we cant see landscape resolution in portrait mode; but can't we just have a viewport into the camera, but record in properly oriented landscape mode? so that playback on a computer will show the full resolution, even though we will only see part of it on the phone..
dialer in kitkat is always in landscape mode when call is ongoing....how can we set it in portrait mode

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy biggest pet peeve about the Evo is how the landscape text input takes over the screen, leaving you unable to view new text messages or instant messages received while typing without minimizing the keyboard. This is also a problem when you want to submit a text or instant message and you have to constantly hide the keyboard to do so. Is there a way to stop this nonsense? Also I used to have the Droid X keyboard which I really liked, but it wouldn't work with Froyo - has a new version of that keyboard been released, or could anyone point me in the direction of a very similar keyboard (larger keys, no useless arrows on the right hand side) ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm facing the same head-scratching moment similar to what this person (from Jan 2008) experienced when I realize that there is no cancel button in Android's progress dialog or spinners. It is now July 2009 and I've just installed the cupcake version of Android. Has this thing changed ? If not, are you adding a cancel button into the dialogs and how do you do it ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my invite to Google voice and I was super excited, but then I found out there were some issues with Sprint playing nice with GV. I have a couple of questions for any of you using GV with sprint network. FYI, I have the any mobile any time plan. Questions:
1. I understand that sprint treats GV as a landline call, does this mean that it will eat my minutes with every call? also, is there a workaround for this? 2. should I get a google number or keep my number 3. if i get a google number can people still call my old number? 4. I read a lot about call forwarding and some *28 and *73 options, but i couldn't wrap my head around what to actually do. I know sprint dropped some 20 cent charge, but I also read that in some situations that charge still applies. 5. can you cancel out of the service after you have signed up.
I'm trying to show a simple layout where I can call this activity and fill in some values, then hit the save or cancel button. Unfortunately the save and cancel buttons never appear. Can someone help please?

I am an iPhone user seriously considering switching to the Incredible as the Android platform has matured and I am sick of Apple's "Walled Garden". My one big question is actually a Sense UI question. If I enable Google Voice to "take over" phone calls on the phone (this is possible, correct? It could be done on the Motorola Droid). Will the HTC Phone app that is launched from the phone button at the bottom of the home screen use Google Voice to make my calls, or will I have to launch the Google Voice app to get that functionality (logging calls, correct number on caller ID, etc)?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAlls well that goes well with the new Froyo leak.
However there is something that is annoying me with the default keyboard.
Now there is a "Voice" search button on the bottom left of the Froyo keyboard, where there used to be a simple "Down" button that would hide the keyboard. I don't know if pressing the back key is something I can get used to for all of those login forms.
Is there a way to bring back that "Down" button?
I'm using a datepicker in Android to let the user to choose the date. I want it to do one thing if the user picks a date and sets it (I have that working fine) and then to clear a certain text field if the user pushes the cancel button on the datepicker (open up the datepicker but then cancel out of it).
The way I've been trying is by making a code...
to attach the listener.
My problem is that the listener works if the user pushes the back button, but not if they push the cancel button. I tried using a dismiss listener, and that works, except for the fact that it goes off even whether I set or cancel the datepicker!
What do I need to do so something goes off if and only if I push the cancel button on my datepicker?
I have various activitys on my app. I have a configuration Activity, and i want to put a cancel button, that, when user press this button, the configuration window get's closed and turn back into the previous activity.i search in google and i find something about calling cancel or dismiss functions, but i can't call them cause this is not a dialog, it's an activity
