HTC Incredible :: Camera Not Working With Custom Kernel

Jul 18, 2010

So I rooted for the first time today, and tried to install Hydra Kernel's #1 & #3 kernels. The system seems completely stable with each kernel, except when I open the Camera app, the camera view is completely blank. Almost as if something was blocking the lens. Then when I try and take a photo, it locks up. I tried closing all apps, and restarting the camera, but this didn't work. Once I run a Nandroid restore prior to installing the kernels, the camera works fine.

HTC Incredible :: Camera Not Working With Hydra Kernel?

Jul 26, 2010

last week i installed the leaked OTA and i really like it so i decided to stick with it. I have been debating for a while whether or not to root. Well today i finally took the plunge and had zero issues. Then i decided to install the 1.15 ghz OC Hydra Kernel and it is awesome, makes the phone really snappy. I havent seen any lag at all. Well the only issue i have found is my camera wont work. I open it and it is just a black screen. At first i do have my normal options, i can choose everything on the left slider and the zoom, flash buttons. Also i noticed the brightness gets turned up. But its like there is a lens cap on it. It does not display anything the lens is seeing. I tried rebooting and it still did the same thing. Is this possibly becuase i installed the leaked OTA first and the Kernel is not compatible? Has anyone else seen this?

HTC Incredible :: Flashing Custom Kernel Using ROM Manager?

So I was under the impression that you could use ROM manager or ClockWork mod to install a custom kernel that I had downloaded to my SDcard. I downloaded a low-volt, overclock kernel and I have discovered that I don't quite know to flash it to my phone.

HTC Incredible :: Camera Not Working On Rooted 2.2

Aug 28, 2010

After many frustrations i just had to comment on the updates out there.NOT all the froyo 2.2 updates are effective. after loading one of the most popular ones, everything went right until it booted up.I had no camera, no video, and my SD card was constantly looking for errors!after searching extensively, I figured what the heck, and seen a post for 2.2 WITH CAMERA that works advertised. I installed over the existing one, and when it rebooted ALL was well with my rooted 2.2 incredible.

Couple of things I do agree on..Make sure you have ASTRO loaded, and ROM Manager. Make no mistake I am not Technically Brilliant but it is easy with these programs. The file that worked flawlessly and got my camera back was ...

20100727_stock_froyo_signed....Look for it....it works!..this all started when i kept trying to get Wireless Tether to work.I have tried Kernels (which screwed up froyo) had to redo it again...also tried every version out there..so for the time being until someone gets it right..I am using PDANET which works great! even though you need a usb hookup...

Again, updating is easy with the right files.
1-update radio. EASY (If you have to.DO NOT update radio more than once)!
2-UNREVOKED- EASY
3-ADD above froyo 2.2 EASY...

HTC Incredible : Installed 2.2 Camera And Internal Memory Not Working

Jul 28, 2010

Installed the new leaked froyo and now my camera does not work. Both Pic and video app come up but the screen is black. Also my internal 8gb of storage says "Unavailable". I tried formatting the storage a few times and reboot each time and nothing.

I had root my Dinc the old way so I unrooted back to stock, installed the first OTA, then rooted using the Unprovoked tool then installed the 2.2 zip file. Every step went exactly as the videos showed. Can anyone help me?

UPDATE!!!!

HTC EVO 4G :: OTA / Custom Kernel - Any Difference?

Sep 23, 2010

I use Baked Snack 1.7 and I tried the deodexed version of the OTA but noticed no change. Infact I found the OTA would stutter sometimes when scrolling. Also compared to CM6 and Neterchy kernel 4.1.9.1 I don't see it being same or better besides it being official. I know pretty soon the devs will have their own version but for now I don't see a reason to update.

HTC Eris :: Kernel - Overclock - Custom ROM

Nov 5, 2010

Issue is that I freeze at any speed over 604 max (via Setcpu). Tried setting higher speeds as a charge profile to see if being triggered would change yet didn't. I have done nothing with advanced menu as I have found nothing posted referencing it netting higher speeds. I am rooted, started with zanfur kernel, switched to a conap kernel (bfsv6), both with same results. Did dalvik wipe (i am running amon ra) then went back to zanfur kernel to try again, same results. What am I missing? If this is just equipment limit then what's the result of flashing a custom Rom with default clocks of 710+++?

I installed the latest version of fresh last week and im loving it... My battery life is amazing now. I was just wondering if there is a big difference in performance between Fresh with the stock kernel & fresh with a custom. Did i half-ass it by only installing the new rom with no kernel? what about that set cpu app that people were using with unrevocked when the evo came out... Anyone using that still with their custom roms or is it unnecessary?

Motorola Droid :: Custom Kernel Without Set CPU?

Jul 15, 2010

So I finally rooted my droid, installed BB 0.4 and from what I understand it comes with an 800 MHz kernel. Fair enough but lets say I want 1 GHz. I'm already noticing that I get slightly less battery life with this than with stock 2.1, so would the "low voltage" or "ultra low voltage" Chevy kernels provide me with more battery life? I know I should probably get SetCPU, but I don't want to constantly have to manage clock speeds manually and I don't know what profiles to set / what's safe and what's not safe and whatnot. If I DON'T install SetCPU, will the phone take care of it by itself and slow the clock down when it's not doing intense tasks and so forth? Is SetCPU really necessary with a kernel or is it just for extra control for super power users?

HTC EVO 4G :: Stock Rooted 2.2 ROM And Custom Kernel

Aug 4, 2010

They tell me this will change again when the Droid X and Samsung Galaxy get 2.2 - I wouldn't know. Until then, here's our moment in the sun. Made this using the Quadrant benchmark, free from the Market, using a the stock rooted 2.2 rom and the netarchy-toastmod 3.7.6c kernel with the 30 fps cap lifted. No over-clocking, no hair-on-fire super tweaks, no killing every process to tweak the benchmark - just downloaded and run, the number on the bar says 1165.

EVO-Froyo-fast.png
The Nexus One 2.2 at the top uses the exact same processor (aside from the radio-control circuit) as our EVO. I attribute its higher score to the fact that it's sleeker and not running Sense. I happen to like Sense so I don't care.

HTC EVO 4G :: Video Showing 30 FPS Stock With Custom Kernel

Sep 12, 2010

I made this video to show the difference between a stock Evo and one that has the FPS uncap via a custom kernel, in this case, netarchy-toastmod 4.1.7. See my sig for the kernel download link. I shot this at 60fps and 1080p in order to try to capture the difference in framerate before and after. 720p max on youtube. I believe it's the sharpest video out there showing off the difference. Look for two things: scrolling smoothness, and finger tracking. Tracking is the ability of the phone to keep the screen "stuck" to the finger. The better it does this, the better the tracking, and it makes the phone feel very responsive to your commands.

To many people, the difference is night and day. To some, they don't see/feel the difference. I find that hard to believe, which is why I made this video. The truth is out there.
TIP: Click on the video below and watch it from youtube. It's larger and sharper there.
