HTC Incredible :: Bloatware Free / Rooted Version Of New 2.2 Leak Available At XDA
Aug 26, 2010
I have not tried it yet, but thinking of going for it, rather than getting rid of the bloat through terminal commands. ADDED: Please read the top of the thread in the link. You will need a 2.X radio and s-off through unprovoked forever edit: new location for it: ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766223. Then again, I may wait for adrynalyne to add usb tether and other goodies.

Okay so a month or so ago I rooted with Unrevoked and put on the 2.2 leak that was available at the time. I doubt I'll get an OTA for the official 2.2 but I saw the update.zip was made available. Is there anyway to put this on my phone? I'm assuming I'll have to downgrade to stock RUU first and then I'll lose root and lose all my backup info. Basically I want the new 2.2 but I don't want to lose my data. Is this possible yet and if so how do you do it? There are a gazillion threads about similar issues but I haven't seen one that specifically talks about this yet, although it's probably in here somewhere.

I rooted my phone recently and installed the leaked 2.2 update.I ran Unrevoked as well as Unrevoked Forever, so I have S-OFF on my phone.I want to now put the official 2.2 release on my phone, while of course keeping my root.It would be best to keep my data on there, but if I have to run a Titanium backup and restore once it's installed, that's okay too.I just need to know the process to do this and where to get the update.I am running the leaked 2.2 Froyo update from May and I have the 2.05.00.06.11 radio.

Question:
Today I rooted my DInc with Unrevoked Forever, then I Flashed the 8/1 Froyo Leak but I did not flash the Radio.
My Software Info is:
Android 2.2
BaseBand - 1.00.03.04.06
Kernel - 2.6.32.15 - g5e1ad8b htc-kernel@and 18-2 #1
PRI Version - 1.28.002
So far the phone works I have Market 2.2 etc, but I tested Hulu and found out that my "handset" doesn't work with this format. I'm not sure how to check for Flash 10.1 but some video worked on the Adobe flash player site.

I recently rooted my Incredible and installed the leaked 2.2 update. Since then, occasionally when I go from one app and then click the home button, it flashes and then shows the HTC white screen and then it takes time to load all my home screens back up. It seems to me like HTC Sense is rebooting.

Anyone use Juice Defender free or paid version? Does it work on Froyo on the incredible? Is it worth paying for the paid version?

last week before getting the incredible i had 2 extra micro sd cards laying around. Today i have 4. Of course i got the free 2gb sd card with the phone, its still in the package. And today when i went to the verizon store to buy a car charger and the red and black gradient case they gave me a 4gb micro sd for free! So now i have 2 extra micro sd's that i didn't have last week. Not too bad. So for those who didn't know i guess verizon has a deal going on now where if you buy a car charger and case you get a free 4gb micro sd memory card. I"m not sure how much they retail for but its got to be at least worth $10-15. The case and the charger came to $50 + change. Just a heads up for those that need these accessories.

Totally stock ROM and kernel other than being rooted.
Running Juice Defender and have noticed very nice improvement in batter life. Still want more.
Is there a free way to underclock the phone? I'm not looking for anything fancy, maybe two profiles: 384mhz with screen off and maybe 768mhz with screen on just to try it out for awhile. Overclock widget does not seem to work on my phone. Don't want to buy setCPU without trying first. Is there anything else simple and FREE out there?

I used to be a C/C++ programmer before getting in to android. I am not sure how people maintain 2 versions of a program without using #ifdef preprocessor macros. Right now I am changing the package name in eclipse and changing the code manually, but this seems really inefficient. Can anybody suggest a good way of having 2 or more projects that share most of the code?

I'm planning on getting LockBot when I get my EVO and I was wondering, what's the difference between the free version and paid version. I basically want the Moto Droid lock screen on my EVO for the slide to toggle sound on/off feature due to the lack of an external switch on the EVO. Would I be best to get the paid version or will the free version do that?

I've just root my Desire using the unrevoked v3.21, and i intend to remove the bloatware like teeter, stock, talk and plurk once and for all. so i went to the market and download the root explorer and titanium backup. When i try to uninstall using the titanium backup, it freeze and reboot my phone, and the bloatware are still there. so i tried using root explorer to delete the apk and the odex in the system/app folder, but after i've deleted them, i reboot my phone and see they are still there. Is there any ways to remove the bloatware for good? I've search around and came across this "adb shell" that can be use to remove the bloatware. May i know how it works?

My hero definitely seems slower for some reason after rooting and removing some of the common sprint apps (footprints, nascar, stocks, etc). I didn't remove anything critical.

I know I'm on ver2. But is it the root? When I downloaded it there was also a recovery that I did not use. Did that screw me for root? Or am I just thinking wrong? Do we know if someone is working on rooting the leak versions? I know a lot of questions. My phone works really well on ver2 and I am afraid to go to ver3 and get the crap everyone else is dealing with, but root would be nice. Now that I have had the time to learn about it and how it works.

I've been rooted and running roms for a while, starting when Pete was just coming out with his first Bugless Beauties. I've been through a bunch of ROMS, and installed them pretty much all the ways you can. Lately I've been on DroidMod 1.0. I had originally installed it without flashing /data. However, I noticed that my memory was getting pretty low, down to about 90 MB according to mini info widget. So I re-flashed, but this time I allowed it to wipe /data. Wow, what a difference. Immediately, I was up to almost 180M of memory! But it's been dropping steadily since then. I'm down to about 145M and that's with not loading very many new programs. I'm very conscientious about deleting cache, etc.

Let's say for example that I have some Android app that does X. The free version has ads or basic features. I want to have a paid version that removes the ads and adds extra features. How can I use the paid app as a "license key" to unlock the features in the free app? So the user would install the free app, then install the paid app to get the extra features, but they would still run the free app (which would now be unlocked). What's the best approach to doing this?

I rooted my Captivate tonight and I know how the superuser icon with android skull and crossbones. However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA. So far I've tried to remove YPMobile, ATT Navigator, and ATT Maps. Any suggestions? I tried searching this on google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.

New to smartphones. Example: Just bought Picsay Pro. I see the free version is still on the phone. Can I delete it, or does the Pro version utilize and build on the free one? Another example is Documents to Go. OK to delete free versions after upgrading to pay versions?

I am releasing two versions of an app--free and paid. The differences between the two are few, and I would like to release both using the same codebase (maybe a different constant defined for the other build?). Has anyone done this? Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have a free app in the market and use the data directory of the app to store some files. Now I think about offering a paid (donate) version of the app, so that people who want to pay a few pennys will be able to do so. But AFAIK the new (paid) app needs a new name, so I won't be able to use the stored data of the free version. That means, that existing users would have to re-enter a lot of personal settings - which probably would be a no-no for a lot of users. So my question: Is there a smart way to have a free and a paid version in the market, where the later installed payed version can use the data of the free version? I thought about using the SD-card for data storage, but there might be devices without any SD-card...

I just installed the new version of AdFree from the market and they finally got rid of the annoying bug that made it a pain to update (for those that don't know it blocks most ads in rooted android phones). Just a heads up to my fellow adventurers in Rootland...

I just finished reading the docs on Google's new Android License Verification Library. I often give out free copies of my applications to beta testers. I don't, however, want the beta testers to share the app with their friends. What's the best way to give out a device-specific license free version? From what I can tell I will need to create a custom policy and then maintain a list of authorized devices/accounts in my own backend that I can check. Is that what other devs are doing?
