View 20 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else here using the Juice Defender app? If not, I HIGHLY suggest that you download it immediately. There are two versions in the market. One is a beta and one is the regular or what they call the "stable" version. I am using the beta and it's working great!
I don't know the ins and outs of the program yet, but I just installed it and let the program set everything up for me. This morning I pulled my phone off the charger at 8:00 AM to leave for work like I always do, and as of typing this it's about 10:00 AM. My battery is still at 100% per Gauge Battery Widget. I have never stood at 100% after two hours until I installed this app. I will dig deeper into the app over the weekend, but the initial impression is that it really does help. If you get it, post your results here!
Was wondering if anyone has compared battery life with and without it. I also am using battery life (one word) widget by curve fish to see exact temp and battery percentage.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI used to be a C/C++ programmer before getting in to android. I am not sure how people maintain 2 versions of a program without using #ifdef preprocessor macros. Right now I am changing the package name in eclipse and changing the code manually, but this seems really inefficient. Can anybody suggest a good way of having 2 or more projects that share most of the code?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm planning on getting LockBot when I get my EVO and I was wondering, what's the difference between the free version and paid version. I basically want the Moto Droid lock screen on my EVO for the slide to toggle sound on/off feature due to the lack of an external switch on the EVO. Would I be best to get the paid version or will the free version do that?

View 9 Replies View RelatedJust downloaded it to test it out & there seems to be loads of different settings on it that to be honest I don't understand. I've done the setup but is there anything I should be toggling with or just let it do it's stuff & see if it makes any difference?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to run a quick vote among those that have tried juice defender. Did it improve battery for you, make it worse or have little to no affect? Personally, for a long time i believed it helped. I recently disabled it and went from 18 hours of use to 24, so thought id see what other people think.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes that mean it's using 13% less battery that it would without juice defender? Is there a way to translate that into hours if that's the case? I started out w/ Juice defender being 1.52x after 5 hours of having it installed and now it's down to 1.13x. What exactly does that mean? Also today I was in an area that had wifi. I don't use wifi much, but when I turned my phone on wifi was already enabled. It must have been searching while the phone was off? Also I have beautiful wifi widget on my home screen. That's normally red because I don't use it much at all, however I noticed that it was green even when I wasn't near a place where I housewife. Is it constantly searching for wifi and won't that drain my battery faster? Is there a way to configure that?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've only owned an Android for 6 days (Samsung Galaxy S i9000) and one of the first things I installed was Juice Defender, having used iPod Touch extensively, I know how heavy on battery things like WiFi can be. Anyway, JD makes the phone really really leggy. It can take a minute sometimes (literally, 45-65 seconds) for the JD screen to come up when launched. Similarly when waking from sleep it takes ages for the data connections to become active again. Have I misconfigured JD? Is it really this slow and creates this much lag? Does it just not like the (fairly new) i9000? I've just uninstalled it there right now (left Ultimate Juice on) and the phone is much snappier. It's like using it for the first time. Which, considering JD was installed in the first half hour of my owning the phone, it kind of is. What I really wanted was the WiFi on/off according to cell tower location data so I can have it go on and off when I leave the house. Guess it's no real biggie. Having limited background data (e.g. the 2 mins per 15) is handy too. Are there any other apps which have JD functions - even if more limited in scope - that I can try?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's now not showing in the market and the barcode in developers site also not working. Anyone access it on market? Anyone got the APK please?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a free app in the market and use the data directory of the app to store some files. Now I think about offering a paid (donate) version of the app, so that people who want to pay a few pennys will be able to do so. But AFAIK the new (paid) app needs a new name, so I won't be able to use the stored data of the free version. That means, that existing users would have to re-enter a lot of personal settings - which probably would be a no-no for a lot of users. So my question: Is there a smart way to have a free and a paid version in the market, where the later installed payed version can use the data of the free version? I thought about using the SD-card for data storage, but there might be devices without any SD-card...
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone use this? if so, what are the best settings to have it set at to utilize it the best. seems like my battery dies so quickly.
I had an evo before i got the epic, and i also had an extended battery (3000) so maybe it's just coming from that to a stock battery, but i still can't help but to wonder if this phone just dies so much more quickly because of some other reason.
I'm a loyal Juice Defender user. That thing has saved me so much battery life. I do NOT use task killers - strictly Juice Defender - and I had fantastic battery life. Since installing 2.1, my battery life seems equally fine don't get me wrong, but I noticed something. with 1.6 I couldn't get above 1.9x improved battery life, which was plenty for me don't get me wrong. It was reading anywhere from 1.5x to 1.9x. But now, after only running 2.1 for a day, Juice Defender is showing a 2.2x battery life increase. That could mean one of two things. it's either saving me more battery life, OR it's having to deal with more crap to keep the same battery life as before. I'm not sure which it is. Either way I'm finding my battery life to be very good especially in idle mode. I used to lose quite a bit of battery life in idle and today was the first day I put it down at 100% and went back to it 30 minutes later and it was STILL at 100%. I sort of did a double-take. I don't think I've ever seen that happen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell I like this Browser a lot. What do you get with the paid version vs the Free one ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an application for which I am planning to release both a free and a paid version. I found that this will require the two versions of the application to each have different package names.
When a user upgrades from the free version to the paid version, the paid version needs to be able to access the database built by the free version. I am trying to understand the best way to make sure that upgrade does not disrupt the user's data.
I have read that the AndroidManifest file setting for shared user id should allow both applications to access the same data. I don't need the applications to both be running simultaneously, as I expect the user will uninstall the free version after upgrading to the paid version. However I need to make sure that if possible the user's data is not lost and is still accessible and usable by the paid version of the application.
I have read about a problem with the shared user id where uninstalling one application will cause the other shared application to stop working because its permissions get deleted, (see details at http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2773 ) Apparently this issue is fixed in doughnut, but since all the currently deployed android phones do not have doughnut yet, this still seems like a significant problem.
In addition to the database information, I would also like to preserve the user's default shared preferences settings after the upgrade. However the default shared preference settings are not as critical as the data in the database.
Does anyone use Juice defender? I downloaded it the other day and first thought it was great, certainly improved my battery life, but after a while i noticed that i kept losing my data connection even with the screen switched on, and also as soon as i finish a phone call, i loose my data connection and it takes ages for it to reconnect! anyone else had experience of this, or does anyone know of a similar app i could try?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using the free version of Juice Defender. I'm not sure if your phone should be set with mobile data switched on or off while using Juice Defender. Does JD turn data on and then off with the phone set to off to start with, or should the phone be set to data on, so that JD can manage data access according to the chosen schedule?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just released Word Warz yesterday on the android market. Still looking for some valuable feedback! Tell me what your think about my first application.
Game Description:
Word Warz is a competitive spelling game. In the game players take turns adding letters to a board to spell a word. However, you don't want to be the last person to spell the word, because you will be out of the round. The strategy in the game centers around picking the letters at critical points that will force other players to spell a word. Also, a player can bluff by adding a letters that don't spell a word, and risk being called out by the next player. If a player calls a bluff, and the previous player was bluffing they are removed from the round. If the previous player wasn't bluffing the player that called the bluff is removed from the round. The last man standing during each round receives a point. The first player to 7 points wins the game.
Right now the game supports four offline human players, and 3 different computer players. The demo supports 2 players(either 2 human players or a human player versus chubs(the easy computer player)
I just got juice defender, Juice plot and Ultimate juice as well. But I am not able to understand the settings. Any help? I know its very basic question and I did google for it...But still not getting it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI definitely would love to see some battery performance. But i see that juice defender shuts your service off every 5 minutes or some cycle that you can set to.. So during these shut offs. What happens if i get a text? or want to send a text? or if i get a call/want to send a call? Or if i want to surf the net? Does it some how register that I'm getting a call or text and automatically turn the service back on or what?
View 2 Replies View RelatedNow that we are on 2.1, Juice Defender works on our phones. I have been running it for a couple days, and I think it is helping. Still need to do some better calculations. Once loaded, I did shut off Power Manager, as I think they conflict on some of the settings. Anyhow, has anyone else loaded it on the official 2.1 release? What's your experience?
View 8 Replies View RelatedLooks like Juice Defender is working w/rooted CDMA phones again, at least with CM 5.0.7.1...the install process is kind of cool, it does testing during the install to validate that it can work, and even automatically installed some sort of "helper" for the CM ROM I'm running.
