HTC EVO 4G :: Flipswap Getting Cash For Old Cell Phones?
May 29, 2010
Does anyone here have any experience with Flipswap getting cash for your old cell phones? Their amounts are a good bit higher than RadioShack's trade-in program for my two old Blackberries but I'm hesitant since I haven't heard much about them.

I was never really big into photography as its kind of expensive, but the camera on my own s3 is pretty awsome. I was wondering if there is a guide anywhere on taking different kinds of pics etc or what the different modes are for with situations. Like I don't know what macro is etc. Just looking forward to taking some cool pictures on my phone and maybe sharing on instagram. I wouldn't mind doing more than auto pics.

I'm writing an android application that collects cell signal strengths.I am having trouble getting the "current" cell signal strength, but I don't have any problem getting the "neighboring" cell signal strengths. To get the current cell signal strength, I created a PhoneStateListener and implemented the onSignalStrengthChanged callback. It works, but not very well.It seems like the signal strength hardly ever changes, and resolution jumps to only a few numbers.I would accept the answer that the resolution of the signal strength hardware is coarse, but when I use the TelephonyManager's getNeighboringCellInfo() method, it works much better. The signal strength readings from neighboring cells change frequently, and they have much better resolution. So, how can I get the current cell signal strength in the same way that I am getting the neighboring cell strengths? It seems odd to me that the functionality of the neighboring cells is better than the current cell.

I have some things that I would love to have but, can't afford at the moment (new computer/nexus one in particular)I am wondering if anyone out there fixes computers either as a primary or secondary job. This week I worked like 2 days at my "regular job" and I was thinking about charging a flat rate of 50$ per comp + whatever parts are needed. There are some ups and downs to this.. For one I make 50$ profit no matter how long it takes... the downside is.. I possibly only make no matter how long it takes. The city I live in does have a best buy and a place called "ram computers" which fixes them..I am wondering if this would be worth it.. if i got customers and things panned out.. 30 computers would be enough for a nexus one and the computer i want to build.if I get caught doing it without reporting it, then I could be fined (unless i'm mistaken) by the IRS.. which would be pretty hefty. And it also raises the question is it worth it if I fix a computer, the customer messes it up and wants me to fix it again thinking I did something wrong..If anyone has any experience with this kind of stuff.

Does this just mean I am in a bad cell zone? This is my reading at home and it is the top battery usage on the chart, followed by wifi at 24% (on because I am home), and phone idle at 23%.

We have just released a new app onto the Market which helps you find your nearest Cash Machine or ATM, its called Cash Machine. We have had to charge to this (99p!), but we believe its good value for money with the following features: - Lists nearest ATMs in list or map format - Find by current location GPS/Network - Find by postcode or place name
- Each result displays charges (if any) that are taken by the machine/bank. This version covers the entire , please give it a go and let us know of any feedback (We also have a German version out GeldAutoMat DE, available in German only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

If anyone knows how, please let me know.

I have downloaded nova(cracked) via Wi-Fi. So I played a few times, then it said that I have to check its originality. So I added 127.0.0.1 confirmation.gameloft.com into hosts, but it still says that it is not original.

I just saw a commercial for the Chase Real Cash Debit Card and in the scene where the guy is standing at the counter and his phone rings, he pulls out a MotoDroid! Just thought I'd share this. I think that it's cool that we are finally seeing Android phones in other commercials. I still haven't seen one in a TV show or movie yet, but I'm sure it's only time before I do. I tried finding the commercial with google, but I guess it's just too new of a commercial to be on the internet yet.

We need to deploy Androids to remote locations where there is no cell service. What seems to be the only option is to create our own localized cell network (yes, we know that is expensive.)The sole purpose would be to support Android applications. What would be the requirements from a phone perspective?Could I use off the shelf phones to connect? Can I just program the SIM cards to be on my network?

Is there an app that allows you to receive a fax sent to your cell#? Or even send by taking a photo and sending?
I know faxes are ancient now, but the business world can't seem to get past them. I generally scan and email, but some of our vendors still fax.

I've read all the threads I could find in here about turning off the cell radio but none have addressed this particular configuration. The reason I want to do this is because I don't use my Incredible for talking, I just use it as a computer. For talking I use a cheap little "dumb phone" so to conserve battery while i'm out n about all day, i would love to be able to have the cell radio off while 3g is on. If anyone knows of any way/app to achieve this.

When I check what has been using my battery, I see that 32% has been used for "Battery used by cell radio". Does anyone know what that means? Does it refer to the FM radio? Because I made sure that was not turned on.

I know about the 50% without service bug and my phone has it, but I did the airplane trick and I don't have any time without service anymore, but I still have a high amount of time from cell standby. Is there a way to get rid of it? Or is my phone still having a problem? My phone battery will only last about 12 hours, so my battery life has gone up

There has been almost no variation from that. Every now and then Display or Wi-Fi would show up as about 2% each, then disappear after a while. That's all.Last night my battery reached 10%, I turned off the power, charged it overnight for 12 hours, unplugged it, and turned the power back on. I noticed two things:
1. My Battery Use list changed drastically. I assume this is actually a better representation of what the list should look like than what I had been seeing for two weeks, but the other thing I noticed was
2. My battery was draining a lot faster than it ever had during the previous two weeks, even during idle periods. My battery had consistently been draining at around 1% per hour idle until today. Now I'm seeing it drop 5% in LESS than an hour while idle (idle meaning the screen shuts off and I don't use it).
So my question is, what do Cell Standby and Phone Idle mean? Previously they had both been 2% and my idle battery use was excellent. But today they both shot up to the 20-30% range and I'm thinking this may account for the excessive battery drain even while the phone is sleeping. Why would these two things be so high? Nothing changed between yesterday and today except that I turned off the phone and turned it back on. I almost feel like I messed something up by simply turning it off!

So my app works well in the emulator in various run configurations and on the device when the device is connected to WiFi. But when I switch off the WiFi on the device, the code that goes out to the network takes forever and then times out (i.e. doesn't return any data). Other people have reported this as well. I also notice that no data is going out or coming in when I look at the little up and down arrows on the 3G icon in the status bar on the G1. I am assuming that the Java code I am using should work for both types of connections, right? I mean, do I need to account for the fact that cell data network is very slow with high latencies i.e. pre-cache my data etc?

So I flashed CM6 tonight and everything seemed to go fine. However, I have NO SERVICE at all with it. I did revert back to previous stock ROM and had service just fine.Reinstalled CM6 thinking maybe that would fix it - no go.If it is not one thing, it is another anytime I try to install a new ROM.
