Just switched out my phone after the first one had the lights/headset issue, and now I've found that People won't let me add new Google contacts and a few of the options seem to be missing. Any one have any clues?

This has happened a couple times already before when I just had unrevoked. But I seem to lose my options of what to do when I plug my phone in. Now it's stuck in charge. Is there any way to get it back or do I just need to reinstall the rom. I'm using Damage Control btw.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed a few apps today and it seems like the counter in advanced task manager has gone from like 90ish to 60ish although the newly installed apps are not running :S Is this normal? Like when you download something on your phone it will eat up task space and make it slower?
View 5 Replies View Relatedseemingly for no reason. running fresh 2.3.3, and whatever stock kernels/overclockers or whatever, come with it) i've searched on here but havent really found the answer.it seems about 50% of the time when i go to either the browser or maps (or something that uses GPS), i'll find no connection. toggling airplane mode seems to remedy data connection, but i usu have to reboot to bring GPS back up. anyone else having these issues?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo last night i had my phone sitting on my dresser while i watched the dodger game about 2 hours later when i picked it up and attempted to check face book, it kept giving me error messages. Convinced that this was another stupid FB error i went to surf the web only to say I was not connected to a network. I looked at the top of my phone and i had 3 bars but next to there bars there was no 1x or EV signal just the bars. I went into my settings and un clicked the mobile network and then clicked it again and it worked This has happened to me about 4 or 5 times since i owned the hero since December. Anyone have any similar stories or explanations? Also sometimes it seems that when my phone is sleeping, i wont get text messages until i unlock it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to 2.1, I lose my data connection about once or twice a day. No visible notification but the EV symbol at the top of the screen will always be "lit up" w/ the upload/download arrows showing no activity. I always have to switch the airplane mode on for a second and turn it back off. I have bluetooth automatically connect to my car when I'm in it and don't know if that's what is causing it? Anyone else having this issue and finding a cure? I updated PRL as well as firmware, but no luck.

The process as I understand it is:
Make a Nandroid Backup (or do you need Nandroid+ext?)
copy SD contents to PC
Wipe phone, Wipe and repartition SD card w/ no ext
replace contents of SD card (while in Recovery you can mount the card, correct?)
flash ROM
Restore
The question I have is, will all the apps and settings be in the restore, or will I need to reinstall and set everything up again?
I finally got my Evo today. I have to sync it with Outlook to keep this phone and I DESPERATELY want to keep this phone over my Blackberry. Syncing over the air via Google is out of the question because Google taints my work data is several ways. Not to mention that notes and tasks aren't supported by the Google OTA sync.I tried CompanionLink but it does not work with my Outlook system. It hangs up halfway through, and the troubleshooting says that it is likely a "corrupt" record in my calendar. "Calendar Record 22" whatever the f*ck that is referencing in Outlook.SO. Do I have any other options for syncing my memos, contacts, and notes from Outlook to the phone? Please say yes.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI posted a a few days ago about my Hero not syncing with my pc. In short, although the phone charges, neither the hero or the pc recognize each other. Nothing happens. I tried various computers and cables to no avail. Yesterday, I took it into a sprint store to a guy I know is knowledgeable with the Hero (he is the manger and uses a hero) and even he was stumped. I just bought this phone used. I still am within the 30 days to purchase insurance for this phone. Is my only option to purchase insurance, pay a $50 deductible and send in the phone to get fixed?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI think google maps/nav is great, the only problem i have with it is choosing my route or putting via points in, is there anyway of doing this? on laptop i can create my own route my dragging, and then via chrome to phone i can send it to my phone, but i want to know if there is a better way of doing it or a way that i can do it and just use my phone. any suggestions? if there was a way of adding via points would be good?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone for the first time yesterday. I have not yet flashed any ROM's, all I have done so far is remove some of the stock apps. I have lost my data connection a couple times today, usually a reboot will solve it, however it hasn't on one or two occasions. It seems to have started happening after changing my boot animation to something closer to the 1.5 boot animation. Is it possible that this new boot animation is causing my data connection problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had 4-5 apps so far do this to me, and every once in a while another app does the same - instead of displaying its proper name, like ChompSMS or wpToGo, the name would switch to the Java version, such as com.p1.chompsms or com.roundhill.androidWP.wpAndroid.
The name change occurs globally - in the app list, widget names, even the displayed name when I start the app. The only place where the names stay OK is the Market.
These changes don't happen after an update - just randomly but once they happen, they stay.
Some other apps include VoiceCallerID and Mystique Chapter 1.
WTF is going on with my phone?
It seems that the problem is in the data quality of the different map provider that are used for Google Maps and MapView in SDK, which differ.
The map tiles coordinates don't seem to be very accurate, just like in the public google maps web api / tiles.

The map using the public map api is off a few hundred meters. Seems that we just have to live with it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI seem to be the only one having this problem. I got my Hero about a week ago and stumbled upon this thread, so I figured I'd try some of these apps out. Well, when I scan the barcode, three options come up, two of which are to share the URL, the other, to open the browser. Naturally, I pick the first to open the browser only to receive an error message "There are no matches in android market for the search: XXXX". What am I doing wrong? Also, I wanted to make sure my build number was correct as it suggests at the top of the thread, but I couldn't find anything like that on the HTC website.

I have a sim free Hero (now on O2). Was working ok, but now seems to be getting very slow. I think my ROM is very old:

Software Version: 1.0.0.A6288
What's my best option? Upgrade to the standard HTC ROM or go with Modaco? Are there other options? Is the android version linked to the ROM upgrade and if so, worth waiting for 2.1?
If it helps, I don't really use the phone too advanced. Sync to google and yahoo mail, some internet, music and a few apps.
So earlier today i wanted to upload a picture to facebook and when i did i saw that there were two facebook options to choose from.. i downloaded bloo the other day but ended up deleting it.. that was the only reason why i thought i might have two options.. so i deleted the facebook for android app to see what would happen and now it only shows one facebook option when i upload pictures.. i was wondering why i have 2. i would like to have the default facebook app, but idk where the other facebook option is coming from.. can anyone help me out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo out of all the keyboards I have tried so far (swype, shapewriter, default HTC qwerty keyboard) The only one that seems to work for me is the compact qwerty keyboard that comes with HTC. However one annoying thing about this is that whenever typing in the google box or the address bar in the browser and certain other application the the xt9 feature is disabled. Hence I have to double tap each button. For example typing "qwerty" with XT9 feature disabled takes ages and annoying as heck. Do I have any free options for compact qwerty keyboards that work with word prediction and XT9 feature everywhere?

I have an option to download it but it fails every time. I doesn't give me any details that I know of it just says it was unsuccessful. The weird thing is that yesterday I got a pic from the same person and it worked fine, thumbnail and everything. What can I do to get this picture? Or make it work correctly in the future? They say they sent it the same way as the day before.

First when i am pulling it out of my pocket i accidentally answer it before i am ready to. The other problem is when i see someone is calling and i try to answer it, the call gets hung up on sometimes. I was hoping that somehow maybe an app would appear on the screen where i could enter a code or something like that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to really love the Latitude interface, when I clicked on a friend in Latitude, I got a screen with many options, including Navigate to, send text, etc.
One really cool feature on this screen was "what's nearby" which showed stores etc. that were near my friend.
Also, the background was black and the text was white.
NOW (after the last update): I lost the "what's nearby" feature AND the background is white and the text is black.
What can I do? Is there a way to revert maps to the older release?
I have a main Google account under my own domain. I spent ages getting all my contact details - Google contacts was only email addresses, I also had SIM numbers, phone numbers and proper address book in Palm Desktop. I finally managed to get it all into Google contacts and even merge all the doubles (lots and lots). Only to find out that the Google contacts being synced was not the one for my main Google mail account (under Google apps).
1) what account is being synced?
2) is there any other way to restore my windows contacts/phone numbers (HTC sync won't work :-(
3) does anyone actually understand exactly what my Hero is doing with the various sources of contacts?
I haven't been able to figure out how to change the google account I originally activated my hero with. The reason i want to change it is because my gmail app only opens email from that account, and I used a new gmail account to register my phone with that was specifically for my contacts, and now i cant check my other gmail accounts email. anyone know a good solution without having to format?

This phone, as promising as it is, keeps giving me head-aches.On my HTC Hero all my contacts (they are all "Google" contacts) are duplicate. I deleted all contacts from GMail (they were NOT duplicate on GMail), have seen my HTC resyncing my contacts various times since (while in the Settings->Data Sync->Google Menu), but all 2000+ contacts remain in my phone.Obviously, I'm just trying to delete duplicates (why they suddenly appeared I do not know), but at the moment my phone seem not to sync at all.Can any one tell me how to delete ALL Contacts from my phone and then resync (after I reimport my GMail contacts)? Is there no other way to select each of my almost 3000 contacts manually to delete?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not a great mobile phone user and until recently used to get by with an old Nokia pay-as-you go. My iPod Touch recently got stolen, so I was looking for a replacement and thought if I got myself an Android phone (although I had no experience with Android), I could still listen to music and even have a camera, whilst having less in my pocket.
So I bought myself a Vodaphone 845 pay-as-you-go running Android 2.1 the other day and popped my old SIM card in it. The day after I bought the phone, it started beeping at me at regular intervals because it was sending me lots of text messages telling me all my credit was gone. I topped it up with € 10 wondering why I suddenly had no more credit - although there was not much in the first place. To be on the safe side, I turned off a couple of running applications and checked the credit again at the end of the day to find that it had not been reduced.
That night I turned the phone off, but when I turned it back on again, I noticed that the credit was steadily going down. This time I can't seem to stop it. I also discovered that all the services/applications I previously turned off were now running again after the phone had been rebooted.
I can't say I understand the technology (yet), but I assume something in/on the phone is trying to call home (via the SIM card?). But what? I have now also turned off the WiFi and the location finding settings, but the credit is still going down.
The applications I have installed so far ar Market, Google Navigator, and My Tracks.
For the past few days, I have been having occasional problems connecting to the internet when my signal is showing as full bars of 3G. It usually corrects itself when I reboot but then happens again after some time. This happens when using both the dolphin and skyfire browsers. Ive also not been able to use my Sprint hotspot for the past two days. My laptop and iPhone show as being connected to the EVO via wifi but are unable to access the internet through it. Anyone else having these problems?

I want to use the 16gb sd card from my E71 in my Desire but what do I have to do to keep from losing info, and app info that's already on my Desire sd card? Is there a program that backs it up completely? I've heard that some people have switched just by copying onto PC and then back onto the new card, but have had problems with application data etc. Also, is the 16gb card going to run really slowly? Slowed down my E71 a bit but I'm assuming the Desire could cope much better?

Im not even using any internet! i rung up customer services, and they said i was using internet.... i dont think i was.. is there and option to alert me when im about to use and internet thing with my wifi turned off?
