Is there anyway i can upgrade from 1.5 to 2.2 without the need a flashing my mobile? Iv just got it perfect and don't want to lose anything. Is there a way i can do this as Three says if i flash i void the warranty.

View 2 Replies View Relatedjust got my 1st android device (HTC Hero) I got it in Taiwan so it has EN & CN. I tried installing compact QWERTY the install went well but I still cannot use compact QWERTY so I wanted to flash with a WWE ROM
I have rooted the device, did a backup, and can enter recovery mode.
I have also done MoDaCo unlocked SPL here
I also downloaded some untouched ROMs here but when I run the EXE I get a USB connection error.
Is my device now hard SPL (ala in WM where I can flash any ROM)?
I've flashed SenseHero 2.1 & 2.2 over the last week or so, and as soon as SenseEspresso is ready I'm going to flash that one too. My question is, is there a quick way to get your phone back to the way you like it? I currently use mybackup pro & Titanium backup, and it takes me a fair chunk of time to reinstall all my apps and set up my homescreens.Any suggestions? What do y'all do?

Whenever i get a notification my track ball flashes, and wont stop flashing after i check the notification, until i put the phone to sleep. On the link provided by the 3 website the Rom upgrade available is ROM version 2.73.405.5 but the one on my phone is 2.73.771.62. Now I'm assuming that the bigger the number, the more recent the software. Am I right with this and if so, am I correct in thinking I don't need to upgrade the ROM?

View 8 Replies View RelatedBeen running Fresh 2.1.1 for about a week now and it seems pretty good. But with 2.1.2 just out I'm planning on flashing that as soon as possible. I've been running the stock radio and RA and wanted to get some feedback on weather it would be beneficial to update both the radio and RA to the newest versions available before I flash to 2.1.2. My awake time is at about 10% and cell standby is using 48% of my battery while phone idle is using 44%. Does this sound normal? If not would flashing a new radio and RA help resolve these issues?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm having problems with my sms vibrate being broken after flashing a new rom and rebooting it the first time. The sms vibrate may or may not work on the first boot, but afterwards it usually doesnt work anymore after another reboot. This happens on pretty much any rom, usually a hit or miss but its happened like 5 times for the RCMix rom ive been trying to put on. So just wondering if any of you flash maniacs can shed on light on what i could be doing wrong. Everything else works fine, only the sms vibrate. I know i have all the settings correct.
So this is the order of what i do when i flash a new rom.
Wipe everything
Partition sd card (0/512)
Flash rom zip file
Flash kernal
Boot (sms vibrate usually works)
Do some settings
Reboot (this is when the sms vibrate stops working, if works, next boot it wont)
so I took the plunge and threw SenseHero 2.2 on my HERO.As with many others I was curious as to why i should upgrade. Even now im still trying to find new things to do with 2.1 that i couldnt do before. I thought why have a thread that people can post new things about 2.1 ROMs so that fence sitters can have a decision. So put up the apps/widgets etc that are 2.1 only and why they are so great. Also remember to state if it is ROM dependant (Villain/SenseHero etc)I am on SenseHero 2.2 the pinch zoom in home screen that shows an overview of all your 7 screens is wonderful. It makes getting to the end screens so much quicker, and it looks super flashy.At first i didnt like the theme but now i really quite like it.Live Wallpapers & 3D gallery they are pretty nifty, however on my device were not so smooth so I uninstalled as it is really just eye candy and does not add to the use of the phone. Much the same with 3d gallery, i had a few minor problems but was happy with the original gallery so switched back. Your experience with these may differ though so they are worth a look.Bluetooth file transfer is working? Or so i have heard, i havn't tested yet though Google Goggles, Although 1.6 is required, most people are on 1.5 roms. It is a really cool app, works great when wanting an online price as opposed to a store price. Ive used it to find some info on books for uni etc. It stores your history so you can recall everything you have searched.
AOSP Keyboard, I got quite used to the HTC keyboard but once i swapper it for this there was no going back. Much quiker than HTC keyboard and a lot easier to type. Though i do miss the long press for symbols, i can live without them.As for apps and widgets, so far im not too sure. I hope some others can suggest some.
On Saturday the 3rd i got a htc hero from t-mobile on contract, since then a ROM has been released on the phone the build number is 1.76 110.6 146733 CL47214release keys. the question is do i need to upgrade the ROM on it?

It's a G-Sensor calibration tool so nothing exciting but I wasn't expecting anything ever again after getting 2.1!

Took about five minutes for the device to fully reboot into the phone after the progress bar reached the end so don't be tempted to turn it off during this process.

I recently learnt of this update, but having real trouble installing it. I sync Hero to HTC, follow instructions, get half way through to point where blue bar says it's erased 11% of contacts...and every single time I get error 171: USB connection error. The phone or computer keeps dropping the connection; anyone got any ideas why this might be happening and how to solve it?

I was able to upgrade form Damage Control 2.07 to 2.08 with out wiping the phone. Just an FYI, I hope this helps those that were asking. always remember to make a backup anytime that you make changes on the phone!

Was wondering if it was worth upgrading?I'm happy with the way the phone is, so unless there's a serious improvement I probably won't bother.
My build number says 2.73.405.5 MCR2.2c.On another note, if I did upgrade, would it put the phone back to factory standard (i.e would I lose all my customisation, apps, etc)?
