HTC Hero :: Can't Get Mms Messages

When i receive an mms message, i can't open it. in the stock message app, there is a download button. i'll press that, it will change to downloading, then nothing. i started to use chompsms to save battery (i posted previously about awake vs. up time) and the same thing: the bubble will be there stating: "MMS content for this message hasn't yet been downloaded (make sure Auto-retrieve is ticked in the settings of the built-in Messaging app) i made sure and it still won't open.

I can't seem to send picture messages on my UK Three Hero.It looks like the message has gone and it shows the time send but the other person just doesn't receive it.If I go into my conversation there does appear to be a speech box with a timer at the side of it. What on earth does that mean?

I recently downloaded the handcent messages ap which is a massive improvement on the standard one i got with my phone my only problem is now i cant delete the old one. Can anyone help?

Im using the handcent sms app and its alotttt better....but is there a way to stop getting all my txt to both handcent and my messages ? i read and respond in handcent but they still show in messages as unread..
so everytime i light up my screen to check time or missed calls or txts or whatever its still showing a txt i read a hr before ?

I'm having a problem receiving text messages on my HTC Hero. I'm getting a notification alert, but no message. I'm presuming that its not that I have 150 messages (as a dialogue) saved on the phone, as my old bog standard basic Nokia smartphone at present has over 2000 messages saved. So why arent my messages being received?

I switched from WM6.1 to HTC Hero. In Android, I am unable to mark all messages as read. Now I have more than 99 unread messages. Do I have to go through every single email to make it unread? Can I mark all messages as read instantly?

this is my first time post but I've been looking at this forum for quite sometime. I got my hero about one week ago and its been great. I have not had any problems with it and it is actually really fast and I have not had any lag on it yet but I did have my first problem yesterday. For some reason my phone stopped recieving texts but i would be able too send them and my friends would get them but i still would not recieve any of their texts. I tried texting allow all to 9999 but still nothing so i did a soft reset and it worked! btw im using handcent and neither handcent or the stock messaging app would recieve texts but i did have over 120+ up hours and an awake time of 20%. would that have to do with anything? im not rooted and i did uninstall recent apps to see if that was the cause but it was not but has anyone had this problem?

Got yahoo working on my hero by putting android before imap.Only thing is there is no option to leave messages on the server. Done a test and if I delete from the phone it goes from the server too. Dont want hundreds of emails building up for eternity on the handset.. Hotmail works fine, deletes from handset only as options allow.

I was texting a friend today when an android pop up error message appeared saying that the program had to be closed down.
This has happened in the past. However, today it also deleted all of my text messages, something which has never happened before.
I upgraded to the latest htc stable build a few weeks ago and this has never happened before. Thankfully, I never had any important text messages to lose. Though I am concerned that this may happen in the future and I will lose some important information (e.g. a friends address, phone number of whatever).
About an hour or so later I made a call and it closed down with a similar error message. No contact details or anything like that have been list but again, I'm concerned that it happened at all.

Besides an app, is there a way to change the sounds for incoming messages? i mean to something i made. Or a way to silence it at all? i thought i was in the right menu for changing it, but i didn't see anything about silencing it.I downloaded ringolite.. and it said to silence the normal one first, and i couldn't find where to silence it. just to change it to another stock sound.

Im a pretty private guy and i hate when my girl reads my texts i send and recive. with old phones id just delete my messages. but with my hero i cant delete messages in chompSMS nor the normal messagner app. ill hold down my finger and press delete and it just doesnt delete anything and most of the time crashes my phone and i have to reset my phone. this is VERY annoying because when she grabs my phone i have to fight to get my phone back so she doesnt see any of my texts that i CANT delete !

Every time someone sends me messages in a short space of time (for example 3 texts within 10 minutes), I can read the messages on the handcent sms popup. But when I go into handcent sms or even the default sms software, not all the messages are there! I got an important sms message, thought I'd check it later, but now it's gone. I'll have to ask them to resend it which is quite embarrassing because "my new phone can't handle sms's that fast".

Just the same here not receiving messages on vodafone, but worst of all i cannot send them either! Once i have composed the message and click send it just says loading, the message never gets sent I sent a message from my iphone to my Hero and the Hero beep to say i had a message but there was nothing there. Anyone else having these problems?

Just out of curiousity, if/when Sprint/HTC fixes the stock messages application, will everyone use it or stay with Handcent/Chomp? What are the advantages of using the stock messages application? I almost immediately downloaded Handcent after reading all the temporary fixes. So I am not aware of the advantages of it.

I have a Sprint HTC Hero, and I rooted my phone about a week ago. I flashed the Fresh 1.1 ROM, and since then I don't think I have been receiving all my text messages. Could the rooting and Fresh be the cause? If so should I go back to the factory settings?

I have a HTC hero unlocked, using an Oragne sim card. This happened 3 times in the past 4 days that I know of and I am not recieving text messages. I was using Chomp SMS as my text program but now uninstalled that hoping it may fix it. I power cycle my phone daily, this does not solve the issue or then send me the missed texts. Thanks

i installed chompSMS and i really like it, the problem is that when i receive a text message both the original message app and chompSMS both get the message and then i get two alerts in the top bar... my questions are: 1. can i uninstall messages app so there is no conflict between the two? 2. if necessary can i reinstall the messages app in the future from the marketplace?

Have a bit of a weird problem, friends have been telling me of(f!) late that I'm not replying to their messages, but I've never received them.
I was thinking this was a Vodafone problem, but I just installed SMSPopUp the other day and have started to notice that some messages that appear via the Popup notification are NOT appearing in the actual Messaging App (I'm still using the HTC Messaging app, haven't installed any 3rd Party messaging apps aside from Popup as yet). the phone isn't rooted or had any messing about with the ROM and technically it's a T-Mobile G2, but I had it unlocked to use/keep my vodafone number.
Has anyone heard of or had similar problems? I just want to know wether I should be contacting Vodafone to enquire about my missing messages or wether it's a fault on the phone?

I have like 1800 texts from one person, and I use handscent, and I'm pretty sure it would take hours to do this, is there a quicker way to do it. I'm not even sure it would even delete them all after hours to be honest

I purchased the HTC Hero from Sprint around a week ago, and it came with a stock 1.5. Had no issues at all, so today decided to try out the leaked 2.1 RUU. Updated without a hassle, but I've been experiencing some issues. This led to me repairing the bootloader and then trying DamageControl 2.08, and now finally fresh 2.0d. All installations went perfectly, nothing to call home about.
It cannot automatically detect my timezone, and it has no clue as to my location for weather nor other features. When I enable the GPS to go onto Maps, it locates me as around 1,000 miles off the west coast of Africa, whereas I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. I can call my phone from another line, but no response on my phone (no calls received, nor missed calls). When voicemails/messages come in, they flood in (10 new messages, etc, that have all stacked up).
I'm using the Wireless Tethering that comes with Fresh 2.0d, and I used PDANet/EasyTether prior to now (as my sole internet is tethering). I'm wondering if this could have at all affected it. Even with tethering disabled for a good hour, still nothing can reach me. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be greatly appreciated. (Perhaps a radio update?)

I can't receive any text messages. I can send messages just fine, but when someone responds it does not come in. I was using handcent and uninstalled it to reinstall it and now I can't reinstall the application. Am using the default messager and still nothing.

Had the phone for 3 months now, things are going downhill. The trackball now only works in one direction , this. Is annoying but I don't use it much. The update is buggy . Problems now with WiFi and mobile connection widgets not working. While changing in settings works. Search facility in landscape unusable. Messages access slows and freezes. All in all its loosing its sparkle.

Why do I have to download the attachment? In my other phones, I've always been able to just view the picture on the screen.It's really annoying, and I would love it if someone can tell me how to fix it. I can see pics I've sent, right in the thread, but not ones that are sent to me.What about chomp sms? Is that any different?
