HTC Hero :: Text Messages Have Disappeared

Every time someone sends me messages in a short space of time (for example 3 texts within 10 minutes), I can read the messages on the handcent sms popup. But when I go into handcent sms or even the default sms software, not all the messages are there! I got an important sms message, thought I'd check it later, but now it's gone. I'll have to ask them to resend it which is quite embarrassing because "my new phone can't handle sms's that fast".

When I woke up this morning all of my texts were gone. I do not have anything set to delete them. Why would the phone delete all of my messages?

I was texting a friend a few minutes ago and when I got a new text from her, I presed messages and all my texts disappeared. I don't have them set to automatically delete or anything, so I'm curious if this is a common problem/is there any way to get them back? I tried turning the phone off and on again but that was no help.

I own a htc desire which was updated to 2.2 a cpl months back.I sent a text a few mins ago. and then when i came back to my phone all my text history has disappeared. I have not selected the option to delete all old messages, So im a bit confused and annoyed about this.Especially since ive lost a lot of important messages.Has anyone had the same issue? Is there any solutions?

I'm having a problem receiving text messages on my HTC Hero. I'm getting a notification alert, but no message. I'm presuming that its not that I have 150 messages (as a dialogue) saved on the phone, as my old bog standard basic Nokia smartphone at present has over 2000 messages saved. So why arent my messages being received?

I was texting a friend today when an android pop up error message appeared saying that the program had to be closed down.
This has happened in the past. However, today it also deleted all of my text messages, something which has never happened before.
I upgraded to the latest htc stable build a few weeks ago and this has never happened before. Thankfully, I never had any important text messages to lose. Though I am concerned that this may happen in the future and I will lose some important information (e.g. a friends address, phone number of whatever).
About an hour or so later I made a call and it closed down with a similar error message. No contact details or anything like that have been list but again, I'm concerned that it happened at all.

Im a pretty private guy and i hate when my girl reads my texts i send and recive. with old phones id just delete my messages. but with my hero i cant delete messages in chompSMS nor the normal messagner app. ill hold down my finger and press delete and it just doesnt delete anything and most of the time crashes my phone and i have to reset my phone. this is VERY annoying because when she grabs my phone i have to fight to get my phone back so she doesnt see any of my texts that i CANT delete !

I have a HTC hero unlocked, using an Oragne sim card. This happened 3 times in the past 4 days that I know of and I am not recieving text messages. I was using Chomp SMS as my text program but now uninstalled that hoping it may fix it. I power cycle my phone daily, this does not solve the issue or then send me the missed texts. Thanks

I have like 1800 texts from one person, and I use handscent, and I'm pretty sure it would take hours to do this, is there a quicker way to do it. I'm not even sure it would even delete them all after hours to be honest

I can't receive any text messages. I can send messages just fine, but when someone responds it does not come in. I was using handcent and uninstalled it to reinstall it and now I can't reinstall the application. Am using the default messager and still nothing.

So when sending text messages, I get the following message every single time i press 'send'
"com.android.mms A large number of text SMS messages are being sent. Select 'ok' to send"
So.....I did send out 100+ messages within like 5 minutes...just sending out a mass txt message letting people know of my new number. So is this Androids way of anti-spam?
I need a way to turn it off, because now I have to make this extra step every single time i send a text message

I use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

I've had my sprint hero since launch and I love it. Lately however it has developed an issue receiving text messages, I get phone calls from people who have been "texting me all day" and I wont receive a single message. It seems to come and go though, have tried switching to Handcent SMS instead of the default app and it still happens.

For the last couple of months there has been a 5-10 minute delay when I'm receiving a text. It tends to happen when the phone has been asleep for a while and the message would come in at 9:50 but it would be time stamped for 9:44. Any fix to this?!!! I had no such problems with my BB on the same network and location

My Hero (latest Tmobile firmware version) is getting really slow, and I'm thinking of doing a factory reset on it. However, I would like to export the text messages, into CSV format or similar. Any readable format would do. I have always done this with my Nokia phones before. Does anyone know a way to do this? I like the phone (besides the camera) but it is getting slow, despite using taskiller, only installing about 7 market apps ever, and clearing the cache of those apps regularly.

For some reason I am getting alerts for text messages and then when I try to read the message it is not there. Its like I never received it. I am using Handcent to manage my sms messages. I don't have it set to display a pop-up, which now I am thinking I should.

For a while now, I don't know exactly how long, my phone stopped receiving pictures in text messages.I get a notification that a new text msg is in, but when I click on it, it just says "downloading".Once in a blue moon the pic will appear after about 20 minutes, but most of the time it never comes up.I am using Handcent, but I get the same result with the stock messaging program.The one thread I saw said that a hard reset had to be done.I really don't want to have to do that.

I am about to do the upgrade to 2.1 Eclair from a stock 1.5. I want to back up my contacts and my text messages and be able to restore them.Some of my contacts are associated to phone instead of Gmail. I dont know how that happened or what I can do to associate them to Gmail. Ideally I would like to perform a back up for personal use instead of on google, and restore when ever I need it.
- How can I convert existing contacts from phone to Gmail status.
- How can I perform a back up and restore, independent of Gmail syncing.
- I used a back up tool to send my text messages as mail to Gmail. I am ok with that but would ideally want to restore the messages back to my phone too. Is it possible.

Starting yesterday I have been getting duplicate text messages sometimes 3 of the same one. I've been using sms popup for over a week now and haven't had a problem until yesterday. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and If they have sms pop-up or is it a Sprint or Hero thing? TIA for any insight or solutions.

how much space do text messages take up? i normally send over 3500txts a month and i just got my hero a couple days ago and really just started texting and wanna know how much space it takes up and if it takes up a lot if there is any way to move them to be stored on SD
