Sprint HTC Hero : Can't Revecive Sms Messages / How To Get?
Oct 27, 2009I couldn't get any messages if my phone are sleeping. The only way I could get the messages is to.wake. up the phone. What can I do to.fix that?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Not Recieving Any Sms Messages
May 14, 2010this is my first time post but I've been looking at this forum for quite sometime. I got my hero about one week ago and its been great. I have not had any problems with it and it is actually really fast and I have not had any lag on it yet but I did have my first problem yesterday. For some reason my phone stopped recieving texts but i would be able too send them and my friends would get them but i still would not recieve any of their texts. I tried texting allow all to 9999 but still nothing so i did a soft reset and it worked! btw im using handcent and neither handcent or the stock messaging app would recieve texts but i did have over 120+ up hours and an awake time of 20%. would that have to do with anything? im not rooted and i did uninstall recent apps to see if that was the cause but it was not but has anyone had this problem?

Nov 12, 2009Just out of curiousity, if/when Sprint/HTC fixes the stock messages application, will everyone use it or stay with Handcent/Chomp? What are the advantages of using the stock messages application? I almost immediately downloaded Handcent after reading all the temporary fixes. So I am not aware of the advantages of it.

Mar 27, 2010I have a Sprint HTC Hero, and I rooted my phone about a week ago. I flashed the Fresh 1.1 ROM, and since then I don't think I have been receiving all my text messages. Could the rooting and Fresh be the cause? If so should I go back to the factory settings?

May 10, 2010I purchased the HTC Hero from Sprint around a week ago, and it came with a stock 1.5. Had no issues at all, so today decided to try out the leaked 2.1 RUU. Updated without a hassle, but I've been experiencing some issues. This led to me repairing the bootloader and then trying DamageControl 2.08, and now finally fresh 2.0d. All installations went perfectly, nothing to call home about.
It cannot automatically detect my timezone, and it has no clue as to my location for weather nor other features. When I enable the GPS to go onto Maps, it locates me as around 1,000 miles off the west coast of Africa, whereas I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. I can call my phone from another line, but no response on my phone (no calls received, nor missed calls). When voicemails/messages come in, they flood in (10 new messages, etc, that have all stacked up).
I'm using the Wireless Tethering that comes with Fresh 2.0d, and I used PDANet/EasyTether prior to now (as my sole internet is tethering). I'm wondering if this could have at all affected it. Even with tethering disabled for a good hour, still nothing can reach me. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be greatly appreciated. (Perhaps a radio update?)
Sprint HTC Hero :: Can't Receive Text Messages
Sep 2, 2010I can't receive any text messages. I can send messages just fine, but when someone responds it does not come in. I was using handcent and uninstalled it to reinstall it and now I can't reinstall the application. Am using the default messager and still nothing.

In my other phones, I've always been able to just view the picture on the screen.It's really annoying, and I would love it if someone can tell me how to fix it. I can see pics I've sent, right in the thread, but not ones that are sent to me.What about chomp sms? Is that any different?

Aug 9, 2010I use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

Lately however it has developed an issue receiving text messages, I get phone calls from people who have been "texting me all day" and I wont receive a single message. It seems to come and go though, have tried switching to Handcent SMS instead of the default app and it still happens.

Jan 17, 2010For a while now, I don't know exactly how long, my phone stopped receiving pictures in text messages.I get a notification that a new text msg is in, but when I click on it, it just says "downloading".Once in a blue moon the pic will appear after about 20 minutes, but most of the time it never comes up.I am using Handcent, but I get the same result with the stock messaging program.The one thread I saw said that a hard reset had to be done.I really don't want to have to do that.

I want to back up my contacts and my text messages and be able to restore them.Some of my contacts are associated to phone instead of Gmail. I dont know how that happened or what I can do to associate them to Gmail. Ideally I would like to perform a back up for personal use instead of on google, and restore when ever I need it.

- How can I perform a back up and restore, independent of Gmail syncing.
- I used a back up tool to send my text messages as mail to Gmail. I am ok with that but would ideally want to restore the messages back to my phone too. Is it possible.

Nov 18, 2009I have yet to see this problem mentioned in this forum and it's very specific problem which is hard to describe but I will do my best.
Problem: Opening messages app takes me to my last conversation and auto-opens the softkeyboard.
I've found only one work-around for this. It goes as follows
Workaround: Start the Hero up and wait until you have at least 2 text messages. Open the notifications window and click the "new messages" notification. This will open up the messages app showing all conversations then click Home. Once doing this, no matter what you do, clicking the messages app will always take you to all conversations rather than the last conversation you had open.
If I access the first new text message, upon starting the phone, in any other manner than stated above I get the problem where after viewing a specific conversation and clicking Home, I open the messages app and it goes back to that specific conversation.
