Whenever i receive a text message from a company e.g. T mobile texting my balance or backyard texting me to tell me my bill is available rather than saying "t mobile" or "backyard" on the text message it doesnt.it says the messages are from one of my facebook contacts whose number i dont even have!

My friends Droid with 2.2 displays a weird notification window whenever she gets text messages. When she gets a text, the notification window comes up with the message, the background picture is a nicely rendered white Android holding a phone up to his "ear". Across the top, it says something along the lines of "leslie2099 is 0.7 miles away. Chat Now!". I'm an HTC Hero user with Cyanogenmod 6, so I am reasonably familiar with Froyo, but I can't figure out what this is from. Any ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted a week or so ago. Didn't flash any new ROMs or anything, just deleted some bloatware and set up wireless tethering. Right away I noticed the data connection going up and down a lot. Then a few days ago I started periodically getting a black popup with this: When I get it, I just hit "dismiss" and so far, everything goes back to working normally at that point. Still, it's a little disconcerting. Anyone else gotten this popup or had their data connection messed with by rooting?

After every missed call I keep getting a text message that says: If I call the second number (408-970-0000) (always the same) - it says "Our records indicate that you are calling from a SMS voice message equipped handset. If you have recently purchased a handset that does not contain this feature press 1, otherwise press 2." How can I make this stop?

I'm presuming that its not that I have 150 messages (as a dialogue) saved on the phone, as my old bog standard basic Nokia smartphone at present has over 2000 messages saved. This has happened in the past. However, today it also deleted all of my text messages, something which has never happened before.
I upgraded to the latest htc stable build a few weeks ago and this has never happened before. Thankfully, I never had any important text messages to lose. Though I am concerned that this may happen in the future and I will lose some important information (e.g. a friends address, phone number of whatever).
About an hour or so later I made a call and it closed down with a similar error message. No contact details or anything like that have been list but again, I'm concerned that it happened at all.
Im a pretty private guy and i hate when my girl reads my texts i send and recive. with old phones id just delete my messages. but with my hero i cant delete messages in chompSMS nor the normal messagner app. ill hold down my finger and press delete and it just doesnt delete anything and most of the time crashes my phone and i have to reset my phone. this is VERY annoying because when she grabs my phone i have to fight to get my phone back so she doesnt see any of my texts that i CANT delete !
View 40 Replies View RelatedEvery time someone sends me messages in a short space of time (for example 3 texts within 10 minutes), I can read the messages on the handcent sms popup. But when I go into handcent sms or even the default sms software, not all the messages are there! I got an important sms message, thought I'd check it later, but now it's gone. I'll have to ask them to resend it which is quite embarrassing because "my new phone can't handle sms's that fast".

I was using Chomp SMS as my text program but now uninstalled that hoping it may fix it. I power cycle my phone daily, this does not solve the issue or then send me the missed texts. Thanks

I get them randomly, and to me it seems like it�s sending me my coordinates, and bhpbear_2000 is my yahoo. Any clue? So.....I did send out 100+ messages within like 5 minutes...just sending out a mass txt message letting people know of my new number. So is this Androids way of anti-spam?

I use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

Lately however it has developed an issue receiving text messages, I get phone calls from people who have been "texting me all day" and I wont receive a single message. It seems to come and go though, have tried switching to Handcent SMS instead of the default app and it still happens.

It tends to happen when the phone has been asleep for a while and the message would come in at 9:50 but it would be time stamped for 9:44. Any fix to this?!!! However, I would like to export the text messages, into CSV format or similar. Any readable format would do. I have always done this with my Nokia phones before. Does anyone know a way to do this? I like the phone (besides the camera) but it is getting slow, despite using taskiller, only installing about 7 market apps ever, and clearing the cache of those apps regularly.

I want to back up my contacts and my text messages and be able to restore them.Some of my contacts are associated to phone instead of Gmail.
