I'm in the UK and have an unlocked HTC Hero with a o2 SIM. When the 2.1 Android update is released, will I receive a pop-up message on my phone like people whose phones are under contract from Orange, etc? Secondly, the main reason I'd like this update is Google Navigation. I read somewhere this wont be available in the UK.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen my phone is on vibrate, and i revieve a text, my phone lights up but it dosent vibrate and also, sometimes when i recieve a text it dosent go to the bottom of my text messaging list, it goes in the middle, so when i recieve a message, i have to look through all my messages to see which one i just recieved. i've noticed that the time stamp is incorrect on the messages sometimes, which my be the reason.

Whenever I receive a message though, the sound is VERY faint and almost silent. The media volume is all the way up... Is this a phone or Handcent problem?

on both my tablet and phone i have facebook and gmail applications. they are basically the same .apks since i have a backup of them on a sd card and if i format one device, i often use restire the apps from the sd card.
and you know how you get an instant notification on your phone if you receive a fb message or an e-mail? that doesn't happen on my tablet. it seems that a couple of minutes after i turn off the display on my tablet, it drops the wifi connection (a power save thing i suppose).
is there any way to ensure a constant wifi connection on my tablet so that i receive email/fb notifications in real time and just not after i turn the display on?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to change the housing for my HTC Hero GSM Unlocked, and though I believe I didn't break/crack or damage anything, especially the speakers, after reassembly my speakers are not working any more, no more audible ring tone, sound notifications. Everything else is working fine, and with earphones, I can hear everything. I even re dissembled it and couldn't find anything that was broken, or loose, or damaged. Can anyone anyone point me in the right direction please! OR anyone know where I can get a new HTC Hero GSM version internal speaker? I tried on eBay and couldn't find anything. are there HTC repair centers around NYC?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently bought the HTC Hero Unlocked White Teflon version. Had an i Phone 3G with the unlimited Data/ Text plan. I called and asked them to enable the MMS feature early since it is blocked for i Phone users. So they dropped me down to a regular data plan which did not work. Then upgraded me to a smart phone data plan. And I called again to reactivate to an i Phone plan. Called numerous times. Reinstalled the Sim on the i Phone data is active. I have done all the usually remove Sim card/ factory reset. About as much as I can do on a mac OS wise. They still cannot seem to get my data to work.

I can see plenty of websites offering APN details and the Hero manual points me to where I need to go to create APN settings on the phone, but I realise that I may flounder when I need to decide exactly what I need to do and in what order. I'm looking at buying an unlocked Hero from mobile phones direct.co.uk, whenever they start selling them. I'm only hesitant about what if any support I'd lose from not buying directly from a carrier. How do Android OTA updates work on unlocked phones? Also, can anyone speculate yet how HTC is going to be handling its updates? Will it push through the carriers? If I buy unlocked and get a contract through Voda phone (who is not officially carrying the phone) will I be the last one on the block to get my updates? Or will I need to root my phone and install them all myself?

The software is all up to date, ive reset the alert tone in the notification settings, and im afraid thats all my knowledge used up. Ringtone sound is fine and it also vibrates for that.

I appear to have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. I recently bought a 3 Mobile HTC Hero and unlocked it successfully. After putting in my Vodafone sim card and starting up the phone, it doesn't seem to be letting me access Vodafone internet. I'm guessing this is because I have the 3 version of the ROM. Is there any way I can download the brand free rom or even just fix this internet problem? This is my first smart phone and I really didn't think this would be a problem. I assumed with android boasting it's open-source-ness that branding wouldn't be an issue.

This is a weird one! I'm with O2, so can't ask them for help as the Hero is not on their support list.
Everytime I'm in Germany and my friend tries to text me (using a Sony-Ericsson phone) vis the 3 network, she gets an error message saying that the text has failed. As a result, I can't receive any texts from her when abroad. This problem has only started since I started using the Hero.
Anybody else experienced this when roaming and being sent an sms from the 3 network?
okay so my hero gets REALLY slow when like i get texts and stuff. i mean its fine when im using my phone like on facebook and i can tell when im getting a text because my phone will start to lag and stuff so its like warning, but other times ill go take a nap and put my phone on silent and wake up and see i have like 5-10 texts and or a few missed calls and my hero will RUN SO SLOW because of all the texts and shit. its so annoying.

Once I do call. i get like 5 messages. anyone else have this problem? Quite frustrating. Called sprint to reset network n stuff but still no resolution. They said to hard reset but I'm reluctant.

Is there a way to make your phones screen light up when you receive a text message? Also is there a way to set a reminder like every few minutes that you have a text message? Say if you receive a text message while you're away from the phone then two minutes later the phone vibrates or sounds to remind you that you have a new text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes my Hero is so slow. I receive a text, with the icon in the notification bar. I slide it down but it can take 10-20 seconds for the message to load. Then I try and type a reply and it is so frustratingly slow, lagging behind. Any tips please? I have been so close to throwing it out of the window!
