Just wondering if running the phone without sense ui will have any negative effects, just would like to use a bare bones system see what its like and see if i really do need all these fancy pants sense ui stuff , is their a way i could just turn it off temporarly to see what happens?

can i run the HOME setup with all the nexus sweetness (weather/news app, maybe some icons...) and still be able to switch back to my SENSE the way I have it set up now when I want (just by going into applications and switching out the defaults between SENSE and HOME) without having to flash, reboot, etc.?

Sense UI has been ported to the Moto Droid. I know some people could care less. But for me, I graduated to the Moto Droid from the HTC Eris and I really like Sense UI. So for those that took the same route as me to the Moto Droid or is you like Sense UI, this link is for you.

Is there any way in Android to determine whether a device is running Sense UI? I'm working on an app that is working fine with vanilla Android, but Sense UI is messing with layouts and sizes. I'd like to be able to see whether the device is running Sense UI and so I can take appropriate action.

So if anybody figures out how to sign a image and it happens to be 2.0 or 2.1 can yall make a post but from what ive heard the HTC has made it to wear the Eris will only take signed roms
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've read that s ome have turned off Sense and have seen an improvement in performance and battery life running vanilla ANDROID.
If one uses Home Switcher does that accomplish the same thing, or is Sense still running in the background?
I noticed that if i dont use the app to kill running apps after i exit them they are still running in the background is this normal for the Android? I am coming from Pre so not sure if they are killed when exited.

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, so I figured I would post it. Since flashing DC 2.08.1 on Sunday, I've had sense crash on me quite a few times per day. It did it twice on Sunday, four times yesterday and twice all ready today. I did flash the Espresso w/ stock rosie theme from DCUpdater and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated as I really don't want to have to re-flash. If I have to go that way, I will probably just reload my nandroid of Fresh 2.0d.

Sense UI has quite some changes to activities like Contacts. So intents to select Phone number (new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, Phones.CONTENT_URI) ) work differently from default Contacts app, and things like viewing Call Log ( new Intent ("com.android.phone.action.RECENT_CALLS"); ) do not work at all. Is there a way to test my code against Hero device, beside getting physical device.
Just purchased an unlock code from HTCCode to unlock my Orange UK phone. Didn't work. I am now back on my Orange sim but cannot get my phone to fully boot up. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my Hero (2.1) to Facebook, I can log in to the Facebook app (latest version) with no problems, but when I try and log into Facebook for HTC Sense (in settings->accounts) I get an error telling me that the service is currently unavailable. Several people posting online have fixed this issue by changing Facebook privacy settings; but as far as I can see my settings permit the application. I have removed FB for HTC Sense from the Facebook Applications page and when I attempt to login it reappears there with permissions allowed but the phone repeats the unavailable message. I have tried logging out of the Facebook app first but this makes no difference. I have just rooted my phone and installed VillainROM 12, but I don't think this issue directly relates to the rooting. Feel free to redirect me to the rooting subforum if I'm wrong.

I've found this great home replacement app called launcherpro that is wayyy faster and smoother than the sense home. I currently have this set as my default home, so I just pull up taskiller to kill off sense and free up some memory. Even though I kill sense off with taskiller I see that sense has started back up every once and awhile and was wondering both why it starts back up and whether there is a way to stop it from doing so? Also, will killing sense like this lead to any problems down the road?

I am not talking about flashing the ROM but rather stopping Sense and loading the normal UI. I am not having any real problems with the Sense UI per se but from playing with other Android devices I think I prefer the normal interface.

On first impressions I was impressped with Handcent and although theres no major differences I prefer it to Chomp.
However, it seems everytime I get a text and the box appears on my homescreen with whos text me and the message, HTC Sense keeps closing and I get the error "Sorry! The Application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later."
Now, I've only had this problem the last few days since installing Handcent, but a restart seems to fix it for a short while.
Also the whole phone has seemed really really laggy at times, again, turning off and on fixes this for a while, while killing applications with Taskiller makes no effect, but a day or so later it just gets so laggy again and it never used to!?
Anyone else had similar problems? I'm running the latest MoDaCo Rom
