View 1 RepliesI was looking through these instructions here: Fix: Working Vanilla Lock screen + Alarm for 2.1 Geek For Me - Android CDMA Sprint Hero
But I am still a little new at this and am confused as to how to just put the vanilla lock screen on. The Phone is rooted and running DC 2.08
I followed the guide to the letter (gold carded) and received the Network locked screen after installing the HTC ROM ending 405.5 and receiving the updates for 2.1. By the way my Hero is Orange branded with Orange SIM and the product number is 99HHM022-00. Apart from waiting for Orange to release the update, whats my options? Read through numerous threads, but I'm confused whether an unlock code would work or whether its just better to bite the bullet and go for a Villain ROM that allows apps to install to SD cards. IF I was to go for a Villian ROM would that contain a compatible radio for my Orange phone, and would the Villain ROM work on my Orange branded Hero by just following their guide? I dont really want to have to wipe my phone again if its not going to work, so was just asking you guys for advice?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know if I root my HTC Hero on Sprint and then load 2.2 if it will have any problems. Like can the hardware on the Hero run 2.2? I know most of the devices that are going to run 2.2 have a 1GHZ processor and a lot more internal memory than my Hero does. I am only thinking about doing this because 2.1 on Hero is so glitchy, but I love the 2.1 apps. Any help?
View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay, i love my Hero to bits and have been messing about with putting shortcuts here and there on my screen and i was just wondering, like on a pc desktop u can right click and change the name of a folder but can u do it on the hero? I don't like the word 'Handcen..' underneath my text icon, can u simply change it to 'SMS' or something?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI believe I've just rooted my phone, but haven't put a custom ROM on yet. I've got a few questions about it:
1.) What Sprint apps can be removed without affecting other things? (such as weather widget)
2.) Is there a way to eliminate some of the boot screens (especially the Sprint one) without putting a custom ROM on?
3.) Will root alone, and the removal of those worthless apps speed up my phone a bit? (especially the occasional lag in bringing the notification screen down)
4.) Can these changes be undone one by one rather than doing a complete recovery?
I want to activate my hero again but it's rooted so I can't take it into the store to have it activated.I want to put my phone back to the original factory settings but every time I try to sync it with HTC Sync it just keeps resetting itself. I tried downloading a copy of HTC Sync and I have even installed it from my phones SD card (I backed it up before I rooted). Every time I plug the phone into my computer then hit the HTC Sync under notifications the phone keeps rebooting and HTC Sync doesn't even recognize it (my computer does though) I am using a netbook running Windows XP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Hero and am pretty happy with the stock 2.1 with wifi and the bulk removed ,are there any themes I can install without putting a custom ROM on it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried putting a lot of music on my Droid (>5k worth of tracks).
I can browse the music my album, artist, and track just fine.
But I cannot search.
When I try to search the Music app just hangs.
I made a folder as follows: Media>>Audio>>Music>>(Music files here)
NOW that I did this, its loading all these midi, and mp3 files from games and apps that I have on my SD card, but not necessarily in my Music folder. Some aren't even easy to find, and require that you navigate like 5 folders just to find em.
I recently got a Droid Eris and I'm trying to figure out how to put music on it from my laptop via USB connection. I've unmounted and remounted the SD card, but I still get no window or anything popping up on the laptop. The only indication of the device being on the computer is the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon at the bottom status bar.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought a 16gb Class 6 card to replace the 8gb card that came with the EVO. I put some music/photos from my PC onto the new card and stuck it in the EVO. Everything seemed to go ok, but when I went to use the camera, it showed a black screen with what i think was a pic of an SD card for about a second then just closed the camera app and went to the home screen. Was I supposed to copy anything from the old card to the new one or do anything else before I switched? I just put the stock 8gb card back in the EVO for now until I figure out what I'm supposed to do.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhat is the easiest way to put music on the Hero and what is the cheapest if not free way to get the music?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI copied my music directly across from my computer to the memory card via a card reader, before putting the memory card into the phone. There were already some music tracks on the phone (not sure if they were from T-Mobile or HTC) so I put them in the same directory.
My albums are organised into folders, and the cover art for each album is stored in the album's folder as "folder.jpg" (which is based on how my desktop media player works). However, the music player app on the phone doesn't pick up the cover art.
Oddly, it did pick up on one album - this wasn't stored as "folder.jpg" but "leftrightleftright.jpg" (leftrightleftright is the name of the album). Trying this on another album doesn't seem to have done anything, though I admit I haven't searched for a "rescan memory card" option. Digging around the card, I've found the cover art for the songs that came with the phone in a different folder with numbered names.
What's the easiest way of sorting this out? I'd like to avoid using HTC software on my desktop if possible because a. I don't use Windows much and b. I don't want yet another program to handle my music!
If I copy a complelation album to the SD Card. How do I dispaly the contents of the album and not have a load of individual artists.
If a copy an album by one artist it works ok. I get the album name followed by a list of all the tracks which is what I want from the compelation.
I downloaded approximately 135 songs onto my hero from itunes. When I hook my hero up to my computer that drive says all the music is on the sd card but on my hero it says theres only 54 songs. I've tried redownloading the music and that didn't work. Wheres my music?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to add album art to the music player? I have put 3 albums on my HTC Hero and none of them have their album art. I know it's nothing major but it's a nice little touch to be able to see the album art of the song playing.
View 34 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I'm istening to music, the player 'skips' and sometimes stops all together, until I get it out of my pocket and hit the home button to wake the screen up. I think it's caused by my phone dropping the signal completely, but it only happens when I've got the phone in my pocket. Is there a way to stop this? I've switched from the HTC player to MixZing lite, which has helped a lot, but it still does it.
View 11 Replies View Relatedso I have all of my .mp3's on my PC by artist, then subfolders, albums. I have retagged them all. I have a total of 15 artists, 26 albums, 340 songs. I dragged and dropped the folders over to the SD card under "Music". I then fire up the music player and my "Now Playing" screen, at the very top, under "Now Playing" it's only showing 1/100. I can scroll through the albums, but it's not listing all of them. How do I get all albums to show on the now playing screen? Or is it even possible? This is driving me nutz!

View 3 Replies View RelatedWorked great for a while, got all my songs and other media loaded up and my phone went on the fritz. I was able to exchange the phone and I've reloaded my apps and gotten my contacts all back in play. Now I've tried to download my music onto my SD card and it's telling me the SD card is unavailable. Any ideas on what's going on here? I would like to re-format and start over again but that doesn't seem to be an option on my phone.
