I've had a search can't find exactly what I need. Basically just want to know if its possible to change the standard icons on my hero (which i think it is), but without rooting of course?

I have seen the rooting video by theunlockr and it seems easy enough. And I can follow instructions so installing the ROM should not be an issue.
What/where is the radio update and how do I install it?
If I backup my apps with MyBackupPro, will they be able to receive updates once reinstalled using MyBackupPro?
Is there any word on an official update? Would I receive it direct from HTC or need to wait for an Orange allowed one?
is it possible to customize the look of icons on an htc hero (without rooting) or even just to remove the txt from the icon? ive tried the any cut app but you cant remove the txt completely? anyone tried better cut? or any other suggestions.did originally want to change the theme of the overall phone but that doesn't look possible either without rooting which i dont feel comfortable doing.

How would I change those icons with different icons? Mainly the email and browser. How do I turn off or at least severly limit the data that goes to and from my phone. I do not have wireless and am just a bit paranoid about going over my data limit. I got the phone from work and this is my first smartphone so I am a bit nervous about anything I do on it.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have launcher pro on my evo and when i change my icons to the custom icons i put on the phone after a little bit they all go back to the original grey icons except for my email one. Does anyone know whats going on here? Also i cannot change the way the normal icons look. No matter how long i hold down the icon the only thing that hapens is it gives me the option to put it in the trash can.

is there no easier way to do this than pull the apps from the phone, changing the icon.png and push it back to phone? i dont want to use any launcher!!
do i have to decompile/compile.? or is enough just to open the .apk with 7z and change the .png
First: I have to edit the SystemUI.apk or the Framework-res.apk? (because in systemui i dont have battery icons, but yes wifi and etc); And in framework-res i have all the statusbar icons.
Second: I have to edit the .png images with patch 9.png or something?
Third: All the images to replace have to be exactly the same size of pixel? or 2 or 3 pixel more high or width doesnt matters?
i have a custon rom on my phone, and the custom icons are not good for me, but the rest of the rom are GREAT., how i get the stock icons? just delete the modded apk and build in the original or what i have to do? i want use a tool like desktop visualizer because i will change the icons in drawer too. and i will use the stock launcher.

I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of panda home could help me out with switching application icons on the home screen. I try to change it through the standard methods and I'm using a .png file, which I thought was the required filetype, but I get a message that says "applying..." but nothing happens. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. I've heard of an app called bettercut, but it seems silly to pay for an app when in theory, I already have the needed feature installed. Also, if anyone knows of where one could find a good picture for a messaging icon (to replace hand set)
