Ive downloaded the 1st part of the download on thursday, but still haven't received the prompt for the 2nd part. Ive pressed the check for updates button in the setting a few time and nothing, ive put the date a couple months forward aswell as a year forward, and again nothing, ive also pressed the update button will the date put forward, and that didnt work either.

I have an Orange branded HTC Hero which is unlocked. I would like to apply the 2.1 Eclair update from this page (HTC Hero - How to upgrade your Hero (Orange branded) to the latest Eclaire 2.1 software?) but im not sure if updating my phone from its current stock 1.5 will re-lock the phone back to orange network?

Obviously, I can't try it myself, but it would seem Orange users can now upgrade in a more... official manner (thanks to Centaur291173 over on the XDA forums for actually posting about it).
my Orange UK Hero upgrade to 2.1 went well. Problem since then though with the device losing all mobile signal after a period. I go to use the phone and notice no service at all. Reboot and it finds network immediately and all fine. Any thoughts? It is a royal pain with me having to check if it is in coverage or not. Other Orange phones in same location (my house) are fine.

Please try again.It asks me to force quit. I have turned it off waited for half an hour, turned it on again and its still all the same!Can anyone help?

I've got plently of space on my SD card (over a gig), my build number is 2.73.771.73, and I've got an unlocked orange(soon to be o2) sim in it.
I really want to see what I can get from rooting my phone.
I am trying to update my 1.5 hero on Orange. I first need to update to the latest ROM .66 which I am trying to do. HTC Sync thinks my phone is connected to PC and I have downloaded the ROM upgrade from HTC.
When I run the upgrade it says it is Verifying the Information on my Phone.....then says it is not connected. Can anyone suggest a reason for this as I really want to update to 2.1.
Update: This does not work DO NOT EVEN TRY!

I am still on custom rom and thinking if i should got and update with Orange ROM? what is the difference vs these 2 rom? any speed performance on orange or both the same and any new features? also when update to orange rom .. will u get orange boot screen too?

I have heard that the newer heroes cant be unlocked because orange have made a deal with htc and changed the codes. I must have been lucky because mine unlocked no problem with the code received from the impel number. My question is if i update the Rom with the orange Rom version on the htc homepage will my phone become Sim locked again, and more worrying will i not be able to unlock it again when it has the new Rom on it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems accessing 3G on Orange using my HTC Desire whilst in Central London. It seems to work fine out and about near home in South West London, but whilst at work in Central London, I just can't seem to get any access to 3G. Anyone have any ideas? It's only been this bad for the last few weeks. I've invested in the pebble, so will be less likely to switch off my Desire, and therefore it shouldn't have a problem finding the network, but once my pebble arrives I will update again, but just wondered if anyone else has this problem with Orange 3G??

However after connecting my phone to my router via WiFi all seemed well until i went out and attempted to use my mobile Internet. I've set up the vpn for Orange Internet but still not able to use browser market etc. Wondering if anyone has ideas?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo basically my girlfriend did an update of her Android OS today, installed, the phone restarted automatically, started loading something and the loading bar stayed at 3/4 for like 2hrs. So she tried to turn it off using the button but didn't work so she took out the battery. Then after turning it on, the phone stays at the "Hero" homescreen and doesn't do anything. So I was thinking, is there a way to reinstall android on it? If so, where can I download the OS?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero/T-Mobile G2 Touch and I still do not have the latest firmware 2.1 update on it. I've got as far as changing the year to 2013 and it brings up the request to update the phone. I select to update it and it turns off my phone to install.
It then loads but stops half-way and it just shows a white triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle with an image of a phone underneath. The update does not continue from there. I've tried it at least 4 times and it's done the same every time.
I clicked on the voicemail icon, on my homepage, and it asked me if I wanted to download an update to which I said yes. It then started with the process and the screen said it was downloading.........2 days later, every time I go into voicemail ..it says it's downloading. I tried to cancel...1 day later it is still cancelling. How can I get out of this screen?

I been reading loads on the ota update, yet my orange branded (and no i will not unbrand it!) and several other users from the sound of it say phone up to date when trying a manual update on the phone, does anyone have any idea when orange might make this available to us or will we have to be content with being second class desire owners!?

I followed the guide to the letter (gold carded) and received the Network locked screen after installing the HTC ROM ending 405.5 and receiving the updates for 2.1. By the way my Hero is Orange branded with Orange SIM and the product number is 99HHM022-00. Apart from waiting for Orange to release the update, whats my options? Read through numerous threads, but I'm confused whether an unlock code would work or whether its just better to bite the bullet and go for a Villain ROM that allows apps to install to SD cards. IF I was to go for a Villian ROM would that contain a compatible radio for my Orange phone, and would the Villain ROM work on my Orange branded Hero by just following their guide? I dont really want to have to wipe my phone again if its not going to work, so was just asking you guys for advice?

I have a great wifi signal but when i try and go onto the Internet IE goggle etc i just get a default orange message saying it needs to go onto an orange network to access the Internet. Ive set the default homepage to Google but nothing loads.

Orange insisted i had to be a customer for 3 months before they would give me a code but still would not refund the 20 they originally took for the code. So now i am trying to spread the word that it can be done pretty quickly for less than 10. Always a good idea to have HTC Sync (you can get this on the HTC website).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen a few threads from people having issues with the latest orange rom (2.73.61.66) but have yet to find anyone with the issue i'm having.
Basically, i keep getting an error message saying something like:
"this process has stopped unexpectedly"
giving the only option to force close. When it is force closed the same message pops up again. and again. and again. The only way to stop it is to either battle against the message and hope you can hit the power down button, or to pop the battery.
Sometimes it throws up other messages similar to the above one but for specific applications (ie sense, google talk..whatever..) but these never come alone, they always bring the original force close message.
Anyway, i've been onto orange and, tho i'm very pissed off, they have been good. they set me a replacement handset in less than 24 hrs (as they thought it might be a screen malfunction) which i was buzzing over until i got the same message! gutted. After talking to their tech support he suggested a hard reset followed by not adding any apps to the phone, so now i have a stock hero with stock apps and i'm waiting to see if i get a similar message...but in the mean time does anyone know of any possible conflicting applications? here is a list of the market apps i have used:

What's your opinion about this one, good & bad points, and if there are better Roms to choose, more battery time, and all features working, like google maps, sat nav, etc. I'm a bit new to this, and trying to find my way around.
