Nov 20, 2009I keep getting an alert for new location detected asking if I want to automatically ajust clock.. I always check "Don't ask me again", but I keep getting it when I change location.

HTC Hero :: SD Card No Longer Detected
Aug 2, 2010There has been talk in the Desire forum of the fault where the SD card will no longer be detected by the phone.It will suggest reformatting. But resetting phone or reinserting card is often the required action to take.I have not heard of anyone else having this problem on the Hero (1.5) but it is driving me bonkers. The shipped 2Gb card worked ok. A new 4Gb had this problem. I have send this one card back to ScanDisk. The second 4Gb card eventually corrupted so badly it will no longer reformat. And the third 4Gb card will not remain recognised for more than a few minutes. Making the phone unusable.I am wondering if any other Hero users have experienced this.I do not know for sure if this is a HTC issue a card issue or and Android issue.

Feb 8, 2010I have a HTC Hero here, and when I tried to get the list of available sensors on the device by calling ((SensorManager) getSystemService (Context.SENSOR_SERVICE)) .getSensorList(Sensor.TYPE_ALL); I get only the following sensors: D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: BMA150 3-axis Accelerometer, handle=0 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 3-axis Magnetic field sensor, handle=1 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 Orientation sensor, handle=2 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 Temperature sensor, handle=3 According to the specs, there should be a light and a proximity sensor on the Hero, and I've seen it in action (the automatic screen brightness adjustment) - so at least the ambient light sensor is definitely there. My question is then, why doesn't the getSensorList return for me the light and the proximity sensors?

Sep 4, 2009I herd somewhere there is an application that can change your hero profiel by your GPS location. So that when I go the the cinema is goes to silent. When im am work, it's work profile with wifi ect. When I am at home it's home profile with blue tooth and so on. Do anyone know if there is such and application, and if so, what is it called?

Jun 11, 2010You know how your phone, by default, will show the time and just below that your location along with the weather? Some times my phone will not know its location. Along with that some apps will not function. The "Market" will not function. It is as if it has lost connection to Sprint. However, the phone works fine. Some times a reboot will resolve the issue. Any ideas?

Dec 6, 2009I have 2 clocks displayed on my hero, one is the home location (Chesterfield) and the other clock says Barlborough which is about 3 miles away, I can change my home location to say london, Tokyo etc but not the Barlborough one, I cant even remember how it got there in the first place nevermind change it.

Jul 30, 2010My Hero rebooted itself when i cut it off and cut it back on due to aggravation of lag. after spending half the day fooling with getting back some apps, my contacts from google and the whole issue with syncing facebook to my contacts. i thought i could easily just look up my city for the weather widget location.
Well before the reboot my weather showed just fine, my location and everything. now my city isn't even in the data base and my gps and such is turned on. some of the directions ive read on using the gps to find my location has become a headache because i don't think i have those features.
When i go into my weather settings and click the + sign it goes straight to search location. i type in the name of my city and it doesn't come up.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Kill Location Services Once A Day?
Jan 4, 2010Android Central posted a FAQ for the Hero that linked to a post on their forums suggesting that this would speed up the Hero. I must have somehow missed this because it's the first I've ever heard about it.Anyone know if there's any truth to it?

I long press the photo, I then choose edit, then move......but then how do I actually move the photo/file to it's new location?

Feb 23, 2010I rooted and installed the gumbo kernel and fresh 1.1 yesterday. Everything went smooth. The only problem I have noticed is that the browsers can no longer access my location. I put the location service back on the phone but no luck. When I go to a site like buzz or access the google home page it can't get my location. Any advice on this? Not a huge deal but I know it worked with the default browser beforehand and doesn't now. I've noticed when I use something that needs GPS the gps icon appears but it doesn't stay there all the time.

Jan 22, 2010I opened google maps and my location is not accurate at all. I understand that if I turn on gps options it becomes much more accurate, but it's a real battery eater. coming from a 2 year old samsung mysto on Helio network that ran google maps down to the meter for me (and only needed to be recharged every 4 days) it seems like this should work better.Am I missing something? That little mysto couldn't have been running active GPS pinging the whole time. What made it so much better at locating?

Feb 28, 2014I just got 'my first app' working on Eclipse, but I can't use my physical device as a target. I have Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Samsung Galaxy Ace(aka Cooper), Win 7. Latest versions of Eclipse and ADT. On adb devices, it doesn't show up, only the emulator if that's on.
USB Debugging is turned on and I downloaded three different drivers: the one Windows automatically downloads, one using USBDriverTool and the Universal ADB Driver.
If it's relevant, I also had trouble installing the ADT plugin with Eclipse, I posted about it here in a separate thread.

Oct 26, 2010I'm developing a mapping app using Eclipse 3.5.I'm setting the minimum update period with the LocationManager's requestLocationUpdates method, via a configuration activity. When I set the property I see in Logcat that the system process sets the value OK.When I actually send a new location from the DDMS emulator control and the location changes on the map view, I see that the system process then sets the minimum time to zero.Below is a capture of the system's log messages. You can see that I'm setting the period to 32 seconds, then 16, then, after I've sent a simulated location change the system sets it to zero.The map responds to location changes to location changes instantly even if they are sent only a couple of seconds apart.

Sep 1, 2009I've had my Hero on Orange for 4 or 5 days now and apart from when I first switched on the phone the weather app has just said "No weather data available" and the clock/weather widget has just had my location. I have the "location by cell" thing switched on, and I did manage to get it working once with the GPS, but other than that it just displays my location. It's the same whatever location I am in. The other cities download the weather just fine (London, Paris, New York, etc.). It's not like I'm somewhere tiny either, I am in Bromley. It doesn't make any difference whether I'm using WiFi or 3G.

Mar 15, 2013Recently all my android devices think they are in Spain when I am at home in Toronto.
I think this was caused when I ran a location spoofing program on only one of my devices, one of the locations I set it to was Spain (among others).
I've tried clearing the data for the Network Location apps, changing the SSID on my router with no luck.
The only way it shows the correct location is when I go outside and run Google maps long enough to get a GPS fix. But when I go back inside I am back in Spain!

Sep 27, 2010My samsung vibrant signal has been fluctuating and so i decided to insert an external antenna to the port in the back. The signal is perfect when the external antenna is connected but now the phone does not detect any mobile signal without the antenna, at all. If I unplug the antenna, the phone loses any connection it has. Whats going on and how do i fix it?! I bought this brand new from third party so taking it to T-mobile will not be possible, i think.
